00:00Get over here!
00:02Hey, how's it going? Dave2D here.
00:04So this is a can of Coke, and behind it is a can of awesomeness.
00:08This is the Nebula Capsule made by Anker.
00:11It's a very small projector, and I've tried a lot of mini projectors before.
00:15The Rift 6, the Pico projectors, like, they're just...
00:18There's always some kind of deficiency to the product to the point where I just don't enjoy using it.
00:22This is the first one that I've enjoyed thoroughly.
00:24It's bright, it's got good colors, and it's just a really solid product, hence the video.
00:28Now, the three biggest issues I've had with mini projectors are, number one, brightness.
00:32They're usually just not bright enough for me.
00:34Secondly is the color of the image.
00:36So it'll just project usually a very, like, desaturated or very flat-looking image,
00:40which I don't like watching.
00:42And the third one, a big one for me, is sound.
00:44There's obviously fan noise that comes from these things,
00:46because there's a little lamp in there, and they've got to cool it off, which is fine,
00:49but if the speakers aren't good, and if they're not loud enough,
00:52that fan just drones out everything else that you're trying to listen to.
00:56This thing does not have any of those problems.
00:58So this thing has your standard HDMI connection,
01:00so you can connect any kind of media device through an HDMI cable right up to this thing,
01:04and it also has a dongle with a USB connection, so you can connect up a USB flash drive or whatever.
01:09But the thing that makes this thing, like, so much better than most projectors, most mini projectors,
01:14is the software that's built into it.
01:16This thing has Netflix, YouTube, Plex, a whole bunch of media services available right on the device.
01:21You don't need to connect anything third-party or even a phone to this thing.
01:24It just literally takes that service, streams it, and then projects it onto a surface,
01:28all in the size of a Coke can.
01:30Like, how cool is that, right?
01:32Okay, another thing I like about this thing is that the speakers sound way better than I thought they would.
01:37Now, a lot of mini projectors have this issue with just having a mono speaker
01:40and just projecting in one direction.
01:42This, they call it 360 sound.
01:44I wouldn't go so far as to call it that,
01:46but it's just a nice sounding speaker system that you can kind of be wherever you want around this thing,
01:50and it'll still sound good.
01:52It's a 5-watt speaker, not huge, not amazing, but it's clean.
01:56There's no buzzing, there's no hissing.
01:58It's just clean audio at a good volume.
02:00The lower frequencies are missing.
02:02It's not great with bass, but considering the size of this thing,
02:04I mean, it's probably physically impossible to get good bass out of this thing,
02:07so I'm happy considering what this thing is.
02:10The fan noise is actually pretty average to me.
02:12I wouldn't consider it louder or quieter than most of the mini projectors that I've used,
02:15but because of the bigger and better speakers,
02:17I feel like it kind of compensates for fan noise.
02:20The battery life on this thing.
02:22They claim 4 hours on the website.
02:23I'm getting actually a little bit more than that,
02:25but I think it depends on what you're doing with the device.
02:27So, I'm able to get a little bit more than 4 hours with the thing at max brightness,
02:31but I'm streaming video.
02:32If you have this thing connected to a USB device
02:34or some kind of physical drive that's feeding the data to the machine,
02:38I think it's a little bit less,
02:39but I'm getting around 4 hours of streamed content.
02:42So, the image is bright.
02:44Way brighter than any of the other mini projectors that I've tried.
02:46It's rated at 100 ANSI lumens or 100 ANSI lumens.
02:50I'm not sure exactly how they describe that thing,
02:52but this is literally double the brightness of your average mini projector.
02:55Often, they come in at 50.
02:57The colors on this thing are also really good.
02:59So, that's something that a lot of mini projectors screw up on.
03:02It's just really muted colors.
03:03This thing, nice colors.
03:05It's a little bit oversaturated,
03:06but considering what you're doing with this thing,
03:08like you're not watching these like super color accurate images,
03:11this thing has a nice color profile.
03:13It has vertical keystone correction,
03:15so you can have it tilted or even use it on your bed.
03:17Now, there's one issue with the image,
03:19and that is its resolution.
03:21So, before I looked up the resolution on this thing,
03:23when I was just looking at the image on the wall,
03:25I always assumed that this thing was like 720p,
03:27maybe even 1080p.
03:28Like, my eye can't really tell when it comes to projection
03:30because they're never super, super sharp.
03:32This thing is actually a 480p projection,
03:35and it's, on paper, that's terrible.
03:37Like, that's straight up pathetic.
03:38I think for a lot of people, they're like,
03:39hey, 480p, screw that, I'm not interested.
03:41But, visually, it looks totally acceptable to me.
03:44If you're looking for like a 4K, super crisp image,
03:46then don't even look at these products.
03:48But, if you're just looking for like a large screen
03:50with decent image quality, that's super portable,
03:53this thing fits the ticket.
03:55Okay, in terms of the screen size,
03:57you can get up to 100 inches, that's what they say,
03:59but you gotta be in a really dark room to project it like that.
04:02But I can get like a 60 to maybe 70 inch image
04:04without going to a super dark area.
04:06So, what else is there?
04:07There's a remote, it's like kind of your standard remote,
04:09and there's also an app that you can use on your phone
04:11to control the device, and it's surprisingly good.
04:13There's no hiccups, it's not janky,
04:15and there is mouse control, it's actually a pretty good app.
04:17There's some things I don't like about this thing.
04:19The big one for me is frame rate.
04:21So, I don't mind the resolution loss,
04:22because visually, it's not that important to me
04:25at this screen size and at this viewing distance.
04:27But the reduced frame rate limits this thing for my use.
04:29So, if I'm watching Twitch or even playing games,
04:32I'm used to just watching things at 60 frames per second,
04:34this thing is not.
04:35I want to say it's like 24 or maybe even 30 frames per second.
04:38It's not really listed in the instruction manual,
04:40so I'm not sure what it is,
04:41but it's definitely not 60 frames per second.
04:43Another thing I don't like is that you can't log into the YouTube app.
04:46So, maybe they'll fix that in the future,
04:48but in its current iteration, because you can't log in,
04:50you don't see your subscription feed or anything like that.
04:52There's still a search history,
04:53so you can kind of see the videos that you've looked up in the past,
04:56but there's no custom feed in the YouTube app right now.
04:58Okay, my favorite thing about this device though,
05:00is seriously, this thing paired with one of these things.
05:04Those, like, retro gaming consoles from Nintendo.
05:06This kind of combination is super fun.
05:10Like, this is already a portable system that you can bring around,
05:12do whatever you want with it,
05:13and then you plug it up to the projector,
05:14and now you can play big screen Mario Kart wherever the heck you want.
05:17It's freaking awesome.
05:18So, this is a device that is going to be different for everyone who uses it.
05:21Some people want something like this,
05:23some people want to stream from their phone,
05:24through AirPlay, Cast, on Android, whatever it is.
05:27There's just so much utility with this thing,
05:28and I think for a lot of people, it's a really good pickup.
05:31So, this thing starts at 350 bucks.
05:32It's obviously not cheap, but it's got a lot of utility,
05:35and for the right person, it's a really cool device.
05:37Okay, hope you guys enjoyed this video.
05:38Thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it.
05:40See you guys next time.
