26 June - National weather forecast.
Transcript
00:00Hello there. Plenty of dry weather across the UK through Saturday at the risk of a few heavy showers, some longer spells of rain as we go through the latter part of the weekend.
00:09Taking a look at the pressure pattern, high pressure dominates across the northern half of the UK, but low pressure to the south.
00:14And this is likely to bring some heavy bands of rain later Sunday and into Monday morning, with a met obvious rainfall warning already in force across southwest England and south Wales as well.
00:24But back to Saturday afternoon, plenty of dry weather. There will be a few sunny spells at times, but quite a lot of cloud around.
00:31Some low cloud across northeastern parts of England with some rain and drizzle, perhaps one or two heavy showers also possible for south Wales and southwest England.
00:39But in the sunshine, it won't feel too bad. Temperatures reaching the high teens to low 20s, perhaps a little bit cooler across northeast England and southeastern parts of Scotland where we hang on to that low cloud, which persists into the evening as well.
00:53Elsewhere, we'll see some dry spells through the evening, but then overnight, heavy bands of rain start to push up across central southern parts of England.
01:02Some of the rain will be heavy at times, but in between, we'll see some drier intervals, particularly across northern parts of Wales, northwest England, northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:12Here is where we'll see the chilliest temperatures, but even in towns and cities holding up in double figures under the cloud and the rain further south, temperatures a little bit warmer.
01:20Feeling humid as well, 14 or 15 as a minimum temperature. So cloudy, a wet start to the day across southern parts of England, some bands of heavy rain pushing up from the near continent.
01:32Some of this will be thundery at times too, with a meteorist warning coming into force by the afternoon.
01:37But elsewhere, generally a dry picture for Sunday. Yes, a lot of cloud around, best of the sunshine across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:46But in that sunshine, it won't feel too bad. Temperatures again reaching the high teens to low 20s, 23 across northwest England, looking at the high for the day.
01:55Cooler further south under that cloud and heavy rain, temperatures struggling here and increasingly breezy as well across the far southwest of the UK.
02:04Looking ahead, and we keep this north-south split across the UK over the next few days with generally the driest and warmest weather across the north.
