00:00Even though President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was absent from the ASEAN Summit in Laos PBR,
00:05he was also involved in the situation of our countrymen who are in the middle of the war in Lebanon,
00:11where he ordered the Department of Foreign Affairs to immediately help the Filipinos in Lebanon
00:17who want to go home to the Philippines.
00:20This is Joshua Garcia in Centro ng Balita Live.
00:24Yes, Angelique, you're right there.
00:26President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is in a hurry to send the Filipinos home
00:31who are in the middle of the war in Lebanon
00:34and to immediately help them return to the Philippines.
00:40Angelique, this is the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the Department of Foreign Affairs
00:44even though the situation in Lebanon is not yet reaching level 4 alert
00:48and a mandatory repatriation is needed.
00:50According to GFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega,
00:53the country is still remaining in alert level 3
00:55because the working government is still there.
00:58Even so, they are urging the Filipinos,
01:00particularly the majority of the 11,000 Filipinos here
01:03who are staying in places that are also being targeted by Israel
01:06to immediately help them return to the Philippines while the borders are still open.
01:12We are also urging Israel that their actions should be under principles of international law
01:21including proportionality, avoid civilian casualties.
01:28De Vega also added that the embassy is continuously moving
01:31for the preparation of repatriation, travel documents, and others
01:34for the Filipinos who are planning to return to the country.
01:36According to GFA, currently, more than 500 Filipinos are planning to return
01:41where 182 here are reserved while 400 here are waiting to be processed.
01:46De Vega explained that one of the main orders of President Marcos Jr.
01:50is to immediately help the Filipinos return
01:53such as financial assistance and reintegration of the DMW,
01:56OAH, DSWD, DOH, and other concerned agencies.
02:02Right now, government officials, including myself earlier,
02:05we're briefing the President because we're looking for other options.
02:10If the flight needs to be chartered,
02:12if the C-130 needs to be sent,
02:14all options are being considered, but what should be the best option?
02:18Angelique, the line of communication for those affected in South Lebanon is still open
02:25where, according to GFA, there is an increase in the number of contacts
02:30who called them and told them where they are.
02:33GFA also called our countrymen in Lebanon
02:37that they can also go directly to the embassy
02:39to stay there for the time being.
02:41Angelique?
02:42Yes, Joshua.
02:43Joshua, so now, it's just voluntary repatriation,
02:46so we're just talking to them.
02:48But when will this end with mandatory repatriation?
02:55Yes, Angelique.
02:56It will happen when the alert level 4 rises,
03:00when there is no peace and order in Lebanon,
03:04and when the current government in our country no longer works.
03:09Angelique?
03:10Thank you very much, Joshua Garcia.
