00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the use of all government resources and assets
00:07to save the OFWs who are trapped in Lebanon.
00:12The Department of Migrant Workers is ready to carry out mandatory repatriation
00:17when the alert level is still high.
00:20This is Kenneth Paciente's report.
00:23The Department of Migrant Workers and other agencies of the government
00:31have already issued orders to put overseas Filipino workers who are affected by the chaos in Lebanon.
00:36According to DMW Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak,
00:39President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the use of all government resources and assets
00:46to save the OFWs who are trapped in Lebanon.
00:49More than anything, it's the President's concern for our OFWs.
00:55The President has always been concerned for the welfare and security safety of our OFWs.
01:01And so he deemed it the proper time to convene all of us
01:06and find ways to heighten or strengthen our approach
01:11in terms of securing the safety and security of our OFWs.
01:15According to the agency, 11 OFWs have arrived in the country this weekend.
01:21192 are currently booked for the three separate commercial flights
01:26that are expected to depart from October 8 to 11.
01:30While 413 are still waiting for their documents.
01:35However, there are still some Filipinos who don't want to leave Lebanon
01:39because they're afraid of losing their income.
01:41But DMW insisted,
01:42We are already addressing or have addressed the matter on
01:47the loss of income that may incur if they come home.
01:51So the financial assistance that we're offering
01:55can go up as high as P150,000 between DMW and OWA upon arrival.
02:01That's good for four to six months salary.
02:03179 OFWs are currently in shelters in Beirut
02:08where the government provides their needs such as food.
02:12OWA is also looking for Filipinos who are being forced to stay in tents.
02:18If we can identify where these reports are of OFWs staying in tents,
02:24we will go to them and bring them to our shelters.
02:28At the moment, DMW is still waiting for a notice from the DFA
02:31if the alert level in Lebanon can be raised to level 4.
02:35And if this happens, they are ready to implement the mandatory repatriation.
02:40We stand ready. In fact,
02:45that this might have been answered already.
02:50Your question might have been answered by the president's directives yesterday.
02:54So the president has heightened our engagement in terms of safely
03:00repatriating our OFWs out of Lebanon.
03:03So that would accommodate any situation.
03:101,721 OFWs were accepted by the Philippine Embassy in Beirut for repatriation.
03:17511 OFWs were repatriated.
03:20The Israeli warplanes in the southern part of Beirut were in 30 air raids.
03:26No one was injured or injured by the Philippines in their attacks on Israel.
03:31Kenneth Paciente for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
