00:00Good afternoon. We are set for a couple of days of fine and drier weather across the
00:05UK, with high pressure generally dominating the picture. But looking out to the west,
00:10we still have got low pressure close by, bringing some outbreaks of rain and clouds to some
00:15northern and western areas as we go through the end of the week.
00:19But let's have a look at the detail for the rest of Thursday afternoon. Well, for many,
00:24it's going to be fine and dry with a decent amount of sunshine, even though there will
00:27be some cloud bubbling up as we go through this afternoon. A bit of a keen breeze though
00:33for some North Sea coasts that could just bring the odd light shower to places such
00:37as Lincolnshire, East Anglia and the far south-east of England.
00:41But feeling pretty pleasant in any of those sunny spells, with highs of 16 to 17 across
00:46the south. A strengthening wind there across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland will
00:51make it feel a little cooler here, but still expecting highs of 14 to 15.
00:56Now as we go into tonight, we look towards the west to this area of cloud and rain, making
01:01its way eastwards as we go through Thursday evening and into Friday morning. This is going
01:06to be quite a cloudy night for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, as well as outbreaks
01:11of rain. Away from here though, plenty of clear spells
01:15and light winds will allow for isolated mist and fog patches to form across eastern Scotland
01:21and England and Wales. The most prone location for some denser fog
01:25patches throughout tonight is going to be through the Vale of York, and it's here that
01:29we might just see a little bit of travel disruption into the early hours of Friday morning.
01:34With all those clear skies though and light winds, it'll be feeling pretty chilly throughout
01:38tonight. A chance of a touch of grass frost or even car frost for some, particularly in
01:42rural areas where we could see temperatures locally getting close to freezing.
01:47Under the cloud and rain though for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, temperatures
01:51will generally be remaining closer to the double figures.
01:56So for many, it'll be another fine, bright start to Friday morning once any mist and
02:00fog has lifted and cleared away. But Northern Ireland and Western Scotland once again, quite
02:05a gloomy, cloudy start to the day after that cloudy night for them with outbreaks of rain
02:10and eastern Scotland will start to see things clouding over as we go into Friday afternoon.
02:16But across the south once again, under those sunnier skies, temperatures will be feeling
02:20pretty pleasant at highs of 16, so maybe a touch cooler for some than we're expecting
02:24through Thursday afternoon. But in those strengthening winds and under that cloudier skies across
02:28Northern Ireland and a fair amount of Scotland, highs are only around 14 for Friday.
02:35Now looking ahead into Friday evening, then that cloud and rain is going to continue across
02:39Northern Ireland and Scotland, maybe just seeing the odd patch of rain making its way
02:43across to eastern Scotland. But elsewhere, though, with a bit strengthening breeze across
02:47the whole of the UK for Friday night, mist and fog patches will be much more isolated
02:53in nature by the time we get to Saturday morning. So generally clearing more readily.
02:57Now, let's zoom out just to have a look at the bigger picture for the weekend. So high
03:03pressure generally moving away to the east, allowing these isobars to squeeze together.
03:07So showing us that we're going to get this strengthening winds as we go through the weekend
03:11across the whole of the UK. Various weather fronts are going to move in from the west
03:16as well. So bringing some unsettled conditions for many. Best of any drier weather will be
03:21in the east, though. But if you want to know more about that, then don't forget to subscribe
