00:00You know it's been a very dry and often drab start to November but some
00:05significant changes are on the way with our weather. Today it's a mixture of
00:09cloud and sun so some places actually having a fine autumn day but satellite
00:14picture does show quite a lot of cloud again across Wales, Northern Ireland, some
00:18thick cloud first thing across the south of England that's been providing some
00:22light rain and drizzle that should continue to dribble away although it may
00:25provide some spots of rain across the Channel Isles. For most places it is dry
00:29we'll see some good breaks in the cloud across parts of central and eastern
00:33England, northeastern Scotland so some good spots of sunshine here and
00:37increasingly some sunnier skies coming through across southern counties of
00:40England. For many it will be quite grey but even further west I'm hopeful for
00:45some breaks in the cloud here and there. Bit of a breeze along some of these
00:49North Sea coasts around the southeast of England across the Channel Isles and
00:52across the north of Scotland but for most the ones are pretty light so in the
00:55sunny spells feeling fairly pleasant actually with temperatures getting up
00:58into the teens in one or two spots generally 11 or 12 Celsius so about
01:03average for the time of year but as I said feeling quite pleasant because the
01:06winds are fairly light. With light winds and clear skies that is a recipe for
01:09tumbling temperatures and tonight it will turn chilly where we keep the clear
01:14skies but I think we're going to see thickening cloud over Northern Ireland,
01:17southern Scotland, northwest England, bit of drizzle as possible here and there
01:20the cloud likely to return spill back in at times across eastern parts of England
01:25too. But where we've got the clearest skies South Wales, southwest England,
01:29northeast Scotland temperatures are likely to dip down to freezing or below.
01:33Towns and cities may well hover a couple of degrees above but certainly in rural
01:36parts of South Wales, southwest England we will see some touches of frost bit
01:41too much breeze across northern Scotland to see any fog here but as well as the
01:45frost with the light winds across South Wales, southwest England some thick
01:49patches of fog are likely. Whereas where we keep the cloud temperatures holding
01:52up in double figures across Northern Ireland and western Scotland. So big
01:55contrast to start Friday cloudy and mild or sunny and cold there will be that fog
02:01across parts of the southwest particularly through Somerset I suspect
02:04which may take most of the morning to clear away and then we'll start to see a
02:08change in the northwest as a weather front moves in that is the sign of that
02:12change I talked about at the start. For most though tomorrow is another dry day
02:16thickening cloud across northwest England a bit damp and drizzly certainly
02:20over the Lake District but in the south probably a brighter day for parts of
02:24eastern England. South Wales much more in the way of sunshine here so feeling
02:28pleasant even though temperatures will be a degree or so down here 10 or 11
02:31Celsius again light winds but a sunshine at this time of year doesn't feel too
02:35bad. Further north temperatures will be higher but it will be staying fairly
02:38cloudy and there's the rain coming into the far northwest not just wet but
02:42actually some quite gusty winds as this band quite narrow band of rain sinks
02:47south during Friday afternoon into the evening across northern Scotland a
02:51spell of rain could be quite heavy for a time accompanied by some gusty winds
02:55followed by a mixture of clearer spells and a fair few showers and this weather
03:00front will mix things up as we go into the weekend sinking its way south
03:04finally pushing away the area of high pressure that's been dominating for much
03:07of the week but it's a cold front so the key thing is it'll be introducing colder
03:11air and quite windy conditions those isobars closely packed together across
03:14northern Scotland. In the showers across northern Scotland with the colder air
03:18there could be a little bit of snow over the hills but nothing too significant
03:22Sunday's been giving us headaches through the course of the week another
03:26weather system likely to bring in from the northwest bringing more cloud and
03:30outbreaks of rain where it interacts with the colder air across the north
03:33again some hill snow is likely and perhaps across the far north of Scotland
03:37even a bit of snow at lower levels and we do need to keep our eyes on the
03:40weather as we go into next week because colder air staying in place more weather
03:44systems piling in could keep things pretty lively so do keep up to date with
