00:00Hi there, the weather settles down this week for the whole of the UK with high pressure
00:06building in leading to weather fronts and low pressure systems being deflected well
00:11to the north of the UK. This is the low pressure that brought some mixed weather over the weekend
00:15to the north. It's associated cold front, a weaker fare, moving south, clearing the
00:19cloud across the south and southwest although it will take some time for parts of Devon
00:24and Cornwall to turn sunnier into the afternoon. Nevertheless, once that happens for the vast
00:28majority, it's a dry and bright afternoon and there will be some high and medium cloud
00:34about but for most it's light winds, it's sunny spells and it's going to feel warm in
00:40the sunny spells certainly compared with the cold weather that we ended last week with
00:4522-23C in the south, mid to high teens further north and west. Nevertheless, by the end of
00:53the afternoon we will see some lower cloud arriving into the Outer Hebrides and that
00:57will affect much of western Scotland and the far north by the evening with some light
01:03outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing in as well. Shetland sees that after midnight for
01:08example. The breeze picks up here so with the breeze and the cloud it's going to stay
01:13mild in the far northwest overnight but further south where we've got the clear skies, temperatures
01:18will fall and in some places a few patchy mist and fog areas will form, particularly
01:24Vale of York, Trent Valley for example, Welsh Marches but elsewhere where we've got the
01:29clear spells, temperatures dipping to 8 or 9C in main urban areas, 2-4C in some sheltered
01:35spots. So a few mist and fog patches first thing across England and Wales, they'll soon
01:39clear leading to blue skies widely. Meanwhile, the low cloud across the north and northwest
01:44of Scotland will tend to push away to the far north as the day progresses although it
01:50stays largely cloudy for the Northern Isles, Lewis and Harris for example. Some broken
01:56cloud in the far north of Scotland and with a slight adjustment in the wind direction,
02:00the winds coming in from the south and southwest for northeast Scotland, some fern assisted
02:08temperatures will turn up and as a result low to mid-20s for the far northeast of Scotland
02:15but elsewhere, high teens, low 20s, similar to Monday afternoon's highs and plenty of
02:23sunshine as we end Tuesday afternoon up and down the country with the exception of the
02:27far north and northwest, again a few spots of light rain and drizzle for Shetland for
02:31example and as the night progresses we'll see a bit of a breeze coming in from the North
02:36Sea and that will allow some low cloud to move in across East Anglia and the southeast
02:41and that coming into central and southern parts of England overnight but it will push
02:46back during the day on Wednesday with higher pressure setting up over Scandinavia and this
02:52easterly airflow. That means that by Thursday the highest temperatures across the country
02:56will be in the west of Scotland, northwest England, southwest England and west Wales
03:01for example with a cooler breeze down those North Sea coast and some patchy cloud at times
03:07but with high pressure in charge, it's going to be a prolonged settle spell at least for
03:11Monday to Thursday before some showers turn up as we end the week. Bye bye.
