00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Although it might be Sunday, the sun is certainly going to be
00:05lacking for many of us. Instead, we're left with anti-cyclonic gloom. Anti-cyclone is
00:11another term we use to refer to high pressure. Whilst we're used to it bringing fairly fine
00:16and settled conditions, often during autumn and winter we can find that it traps a moist
00:21layer of air at the surface and this results in widespread cloud across much of the UK.
00:26High pressure is a blocking pattern, it can linger for quite a while and so we are going
00:30to see the cloud with us for a good few days still to come. So for much of England, Wales
00:35and Northern Ireland it is a grey day, once again the odd spot of drizzle to watch out
00:39for in places. The best of the sunshine today is going to be reserved for parts of Northern
00:44Scotland. Temperatures around 12-14 degrees Celsius, roughly where we would expect them
00:49to be for the time of year, but obviously where you are lacking the sunshine it is going
00:53to feel quite cool in places. As we head into the evening, if you do have any firework
00:58celebrations, most of us should stay dry, but do just take care for the odd spot of
01:01drizzle that could still linger around, particularly Irish Sea coastal districts. Underneath the
01:06cloud though, it is going to hold temperatures up a bit, so most of us will be remaining
01:11on the positive side of the temperature scale, but things will turn a little bit cooler again
01:15once across Northern Scotland. Apache frost is possible for the Northern Highlands where
01:20we see those temperatures dropping off a bit more. Onto the new working week then and
01:25for many of us it is a very similar situation, a repeated scenario where that cloud is really
01:30going to be lingering and staying with us. But there is a chance as we head throughout
01:34the day that we start to see a few more breaks developing in that cloud, particularly for
01:37North Western Scotland, Western Northern Ireland, Western Wales, parts of Cornwall and also
01:41the far south east of England seeing an influence from those clearing skies across parts of
01:45France. Temperatures down by a degree or so in places, many of us around 11 to 13 degrees
01:51Celsius, and again feeling quite cool if you don't see that sun managing to break through
01:56the drizzle again, it is still possible across quite widespread areas. And as we end Monday,
02:01pretty much the same way that we started it, a lot of cloud right across the board, where
02:05we do start to see some of those clearer breaks developing into the evening and overnight
02:09period though, that does allow us the risk of some fog to develop. So as you start off
02:14on Tuesday morning, do be prepared for some quite misty and murky scenes to be developing.
02:18Those fog patches could linger quite well into the morning to provide a little bit of
02:22disturbance in places. But we'll keep you up to date on what to expect over the next
