Some unsettled conditions are arriving in time for the new year. Heavy persistent rain affects Scotland this afternoon with some wintry showers in the far north especially in upland areas. Elsewhere across much of England and Wales it will be cloudy, with some drizzle and sunny breaks at times. 00:00Hello there, good afternoon. We have a fair amount of unsettled weather for the lead up
00:05to New Year's and also for Hogmanay across Scotland with outbreaks of rain and also some
00:09snow at times. This is set to continue this afternoon across western parts of Northern
00:13Ireland through across the Scottish borders and at times northern parts of England too
00:17with some snow showers across the far north of Scotland, mainly across high ground but
00:21we could also see some flurries to lower levels too. Elsewhere across much of England and
00:27Wales, fairly cloudy, we may just see some breaks in that cloud at times to the east
00:31of high ground and parts of the south east too. We may also see some drips and drabs
00:35of rain and drizzle across hilly areas but there should be plenty of dry weather here
00:40with those spells of rain continuing across the north. Temperatures are fairly mild for
00:45the majority of the country too, though chillier in the far north of Scotland where we'll only
00:49see highs of around 4 to 5 Celsius. Then through into the evening we'll see a secondary band
00:55of rain slowly push its way north eastwards across Scotland, falling as heavy and persistent
01:01rain at times and then also some snow across the northern edge too. Once again, mainly
01:05across hills but we could also see some to lower levels too and this rain is going to
01:09be heavy and persistent at times across parts of Scotland with an amber rain warning in
01:14force. Elsewhere, once again that cloud sticking around, still could see some drizzly outbreaks
01:19across hills too and where we see much of that cloud sticking around, that's going to
01:24keep temperatures up but once again in the far north of Scotland, chillier here, particularly
01:28where we see the outbreaks of snow. Then for the last day of the year, an unsettled day
01:33ahead for many, still outbreaks of rain, heavy and persistent at times across northern areas,
01:39some quite blustery winds too with multiple warnings in force for rain and wind and also
01:44snow too. This will eventually clear, leaving some showers across northern areas but outbreaks
01:50of rain then feeding into northern parts of Wales and parts of northern and central
01:54England too. The best of the brightness once again across the far south and south east
01:58where it's still largely mild for the time of year and temperatures up by a degree or
02:03two in the far north of Scotland also. Then if you're out with all your New Year's Eve
02:09celebrations, well I'm afraid to say once again there is a fair amount of unsettled
02:12weather around. Plenty of rain across parts of Wales, northern and central parts of England.
02:16Once again, this could be quite heavy and persistent at times. Once again, plenty of
02:21showers across western parts of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland too and we could once again
02:25see some snowfall. It should be largely dry across the south but once again cloudy with
02:31also some spells of drizzle. As we head into New Year's Day, it does remain to look unsettled.
02:37Heavy rain at times, also still some snow in places, mainly across the north and some
02:42strong winds particularly across southern areas. So the start of 2025 looks generally
02:47unsettled but for more updates don't forget you can subscribe to our YouTube channel and
