00:00It's been a very wet September for England and Wales,
00:04whereas large parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:06have been sunnier and drier than usual.
00:09And that sunnier and drier weather
00:11is going to become more widespread
00:13as we head into October.
00:14It doesn't look that promising to start with.
00:16This deep low is still bringing wet and windy conditions
00:20through Monday night and into Tuesday.
00:22There are more lows waiting in the wings.
00:24But actually, it's this high pressure
00:26which is going to squash its way down from the north
00:29to bring many of us much drier conditions later this week.
00:33But we start Tuesday still with some pretty heavy rain
00:35over parts of eastern England, staying pretty damp and cool
00:39on these North Sea coasts.
00:40Further outbreaks of rain coming in at times over the Midlands.
00:43Not as heavy, not as persistent as Monday's rain,
00:46but nevertheless, damp and chilly in eastern England.
00:49Much brighter skies further west,
00:51some sunshine for South Wales, southwest England,
00:53Northern Ireland, and much of Scotland
00:55having a fine day on Tuesday.
00:57With the breeze coming in from the east or the northeast,
00:59all of these eastern coasts will be fresh.
01:0215, 16 at best.
01:04Add on the rain and the wind, it'll
01:06feel much cooler than that.
01:07Top temperatures in the sunniest bells down further south
01:09and west, getting into the high teens perhaps.
01:12That wet weather, that low pressure system
01:14continues to only slowly ebb away.
01:17The high is moving in, but it's taking its time.
01:19The isobar is just squeezing together a little as well.
01:22So we'll keep that brisk wind blowing on Wednesday,
01:26providing some pretty cool conditions again
01:28along North Sea coast, and still providing showers.
01:31Across East Anglia, Kent, and even up the Thames estuary
01:34at times, there will be some showers moving in here.
01:37So it's not completely dry.
01:38The odd shower of the Midlands, northern England,
01:40but many places will have a dry day on Wednesday.
01:44There will still be that breeze bringing the chill
01:46to North Sea coast, but it could also
01:48turn quite gusty over parts of Wales and southwest England.
01:52Meanwhile, closer to the high pressure,
01:54the winds will be much lighter across Scotland and Northern
01:56Ireland, a fine day here once any morning mist and fog
02:00has cleared.
02:00Morning mist and fog could become more of an issue
02:03as we go towards the second half of the week
02:05as the high tends to drift further south.
02:07The isobar's opening up a touch, still a bit breezy
02:11around the coast of East Anglia and along the south coast
02:14of England.
02:14But for most, with lighter winds and those clearer skies,
02:18temperatures will tumble away.
02:20These are the values in towns and cities,
02:21but rural spots, certainly across northern Britain,
02:24likely to be below freezing to start Thursday.
02:27And as I mentioned, with the high pressure moving in,
02:29increasing chance of seeing some mist and fog.
02:31But that should clear away.
02:33Some cloud will bubble up.
02:34There may still be the odd shower
02:36across East Anglia and the southeast,
02:38but they'll be pretty light.
02:40For most places, it is a dry day on Thursday.
02:43Temperatures, again, a touch below the average
02:46for the time of year.
02:46Maybe getting into the high teens
02:48across the south with a little bit of sunshine,
02:50but we'll have lost that pretty cold wind
02:53on these eastern coasts.
02:55Now, as we go towards Friday, things
02:57will start to shift around.
02:59Low pressure systems out in the Atlantic
03:01just starting to nudge the high further and further eastwards.
03:05May introduce a little bit more cloud and some showery rain
03:08up towards the northwest on this weather front here,
03:11perhaps into Northern Ireland.
03:12But I suspect, again, most places
03:14will be dry on Friday and a fine and sunny day
03:17for much of England and Wales.
03:19And temperatures just ticking up a little.
03:21There will be a cold start on Friday across the south
03:24and east in particular, but temperatures generally
03:26starting to lift a little bit.
03:28And the bigger picture as we head into the weekend
03:30is actually low pressure will start to dominate,
03:33finally pushing away the high that
03:34will control most of our weather this week.
03:37The remnants of an ex-Hurricane Isaac
03:39getting sucked into this low pressure system.
03:41So quite interesting as we head towards the end of the week,
03:44but certainly that could bring some wet and windy conditions
03:47in from the Atlantic.
03:49As always, keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
