00:00After a hot spell for some parts of the UK last week, the week ahead promises
00:05temperatures much closer to average and that's because the weather patterns are
00:09fairly typical and that means low pressure is situated up to the
00:13northwest of the UK. This one dominates the weather through the first half of
00:17the week it does then tend to drift away but only to be replaced by another one
00:22so the same weather patterns setting up. At times weather fronts will brush parts
00:27of the south but the general rule the closer you are to that low pressure
00:32system the more rain you will see through this week and that's what this
00:35graph is showing us the rainfall accumulations building up as we go
00:40through the week with the heaviest rain particularly on Tuesday morning across
00:44parts of Cumbria but then the rainfall totals really building up through the
00:48week across the highlands of Scotland's northern parts of Wales again the hilly
00:53areas here seeing the heaviest rain whereas a good part of central and
00:56eastern England won't see much rain at all so the further north and west you
01:00are the wetter the week will be. Having said that we will see some rain on this
01:06weather front as it crosses central and eastern England first thing on Tuesday
01:09morning there's the low pressure system getting closer and closer that's going
01:13to drive the showers in but this weather front making for a grey damp start over
01:18parts of Lincolnshire down to the home counties the rain though kind of
01:22fizzling out as it crosses to East Anglia so no more than a little bit of
01:27rain coming in here through the afternoon. Then we'll see a much brighter
01:30zone over much of England and Wales some good spells of sunshine a few showers
01:33for West Wales, North West England lots of showers for Western Scotland and
01:37Northern Ireland blown along by fairly brisk wind you can see the wind
01:41swirling around that low pressure system which will continue to control our
01:46weather through Wednesday. Still some warmth in the air across the east when
01:50we see the Sun coming out through the afternoon 24-25 degrees but it will
01:55start to feel quite a bit fresher after the humid feel through Sunday and at
01:59times on Monday whereas further west temperatures close to average high teens
02:02or low 20s. There's that low pressure system we saw that will continue to edge
02:08closer to the country by Wednesday so lots of showers packing in across
02:13Western Scotland the isobar squeeging together as well so a blusterous day as
02:18well as a pretty wet start for Western Scotland. There'll be showers further
02:22south for England and Wales again mostly across the north and the west with parts
02:26of East Anglia and the southeast of England having a dry day with some cloud
02:31but some sunny spells. The showers may ease later for Northern Ireland and
02:35Wales as well so turning drier but plenty of showers continuing right into
02:39the evening across northern parts of Scotland with a pretty gusty wind as
02:44well. Again temperatures ranging from the low 20s across the south and east to
02:48high teens across the north and west so pretty much bang on average for the time
02:52of year maybe a little cooler across the northwest. That low pressure does edge
02:57away but as we saw earlier it's going to be replaced by another one. We do have to
03:00watch this little weather feature just coming in from the southwest that's
03:04going to introduce more cloud after a bright fine start for many. Quite a drab
03:10day looks likely for Wales and Northern Ireland. Some uncertainty about then the
03:13northward extent of this rainbound but generally a drier day in Western
03:17Scotland after lots of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday and again it looks
03:21like at the moment this zone of rain will shift up across northern England so
03:25East Anglia and the southeast mostly staying dry just with increasing cloud
03:30and probably increasing humidity as well. Quite a warm night at Thursday
03:35night into Friday morning in this warm sector and then well we're really back
03:39to square one with a low pressure sitting up to the northwest, a weather
03:42front crossing the country but this one's got a ripple on it or a wave as we
03:47like to call it. These always add uncertainty to the forecast so this
03:51needs watching later in the week. Some uncertainty about how much rain we see
03:55across parts of the south but it could be a bit of a grey day with some patchy
03:58rain. Question marks about when it will actually clear but it should then reveal
04:03a brighter day elsewhere with sunny spells but plenty of showers again
04:07across western parts of Scotland and temperatures again generally high teens
04:12across the north twenties for England and Wales and perhaps something a bit
04:16warmer across East Anglia and the southeast but it really will depend on
04:19the timing of the clearance of that waving wriggling weather fronts and as I
04:24say they always causes a few problems those waving fronts and there's another
04:28little complication then just this low pressure edging towards us as we head
04:32towards the weekend. Quite a bit of uncertainty about that so if you've got
04:36plans for this weekend do keep up to date with the forecast throughout this
04:40week and of course the best way to do that if you're watching this on YouTube
