00:00It is caught! Touchdown!
00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ball game!
00:12All right, here we are again. Week 2 almost in the books.
00:15This is the All 32 pod. Mike Ciardi, Will Parkinson, as usual, alongside a thrilling Week 2.
00:23The early window, 10 games. Absurd, right? A lot of stuff happening.
00:26You and I are texting back and forth about what was going on.
00:29Look, we're in it now and it's been a lot of fun so far.
00:33Yeah, kind of a wacky Week 2. Almost a little bit crazier than Week 1
00:37in terms of some of these results that we'll get into and things of that nature.
00:41The NFL, please stop loading up holidays and give us 8 1 o'clock games,
00:474 or 5 4 o'clock games like normal human beings
00:51because the depression at 425 outside of that Bengals Chiefs game was tough.
00:57But I'm excited to get into it.
00:59Absolutely. A reminder of the show brought to you by PrizePix,
01:01the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the CLNS Media Network.
01:05And game time, best tickets, best prices to get you in to see any event that you want to see.
01:11Concerts, games, etc. Will and I use it. We use them both.
01:14That's why we tell you about them. We want you involved.
01:16Let's get right into it, Will. Week 1 reaction.
01:19Our Week 1 reaction. That was probably an overreaction. I'll let you start first.
01:23Yeah, just literally as we're recording, again, it's not that crazy breaking news.
01:27Tyler Huntley signed by the Dolphins off the practice squad,
01:29which would indicate as a second potential option for them.
01:32He did make the Pro Bowl as an alternate one time.
01:35Every insider wants you to know that.
01:37But I know we talked about Matt Jones.
01:39CJ Beathard was suggested last night on Football Night America
01:42that they end up going with Tyler Huntley there.
01:44So just wanted to get that out of the way.
01:46It seems like Tua is not going to retire based on Ian Rappaport.
01:49So just hit that off the top.
01:51Week 1 reaction. That overreaction, I guess, was probably not warranted.
01:55I think we overreacted to the Niners just a little bit.
01:59I think they're still really good.
02:01Minnesota seems to have had their number now a couple years in a row.
02:04Brock Purdy does not seem to look as good.
02:06McCaffrey is now going to be out what seems like six weeks minimum.
02:10I feel like that's going to end up being like help be Week 10, Week 11.
02:14I just kind of can see that one, him and Dre Greenwald
02:17probably coming back similar timing back half of the year.
02:20They can get away with it.
02:22But I think they, to me, just it feels like they're not quite as dominant.
02:28They looked really good.
02:29I think the Jets and them were a bad matchup for the Jets
02:32and a good matchup for San Francisco for a myriad of reasons,
02:35which we talked about.
02:36I just felt like Minnesota goes down.
02:38Jefferson goes down.
02:40No Addison. No Hawkinson.
02:43Sam Darnold, obviously, who I love and I'm really excited for him.
02:47But you would obviously trust that Niners defense,
02:49and it felt like Sam led that monster drive at the end of the game
02:52and set up to go up two scores or go up a score there
02:55and kind of kill the game off.
02:57I think Minnesota is going to be friskier because of your guy Brian Flores
03:02and O'Connell I think is probably going to be the best staff in the league
03:05right now in just the two weeks, the best way they have coached.
03:09I think San Francisco is going to be really good.
03:11I just think maybe they overreacted a bit.
03:13They're just going to walk away with the NFC again
03:15based on Monday night's performance.
03:17I'll give you a quick one.
03:18The week one was probably an overreaction
03:21that Marvin Harrison can't play NFL football.
03:24Remember the nerds breaking out the analytics.
03:27His top speed in week one against Buffalo was like 16 miles an hour.
03:30That's in the lowest percentile of all starting receivers.
03:34Four catches, 130 yards, two touchdowns,
03:37both in the first quarter against the Rams.
03:39Flexed his muscle.
03:40He's never going to be the guy who runs away from you.
03:43That's more a Malik Nabors thing.
03:45What he is is he's going to win at the catch point.
03:47He's going to win with great route running.
03:49He's going to be physical.
03:50Oh, by the way, then when he gets ahead of steam,
03:52that's when he really gets going.
03:53I thought he was outstanding.
03:55I thought the Cardinals, that was a big victory.
03:57I know the Rams were beat up, but that was just impressive.
04:00I think we might be getting that bad.
04:02My cousin is a diehard Rams fan.
04:04I'm fearful.
04:06You're concerned about the Rams.
04:08It already feels like we're getting that Rams season from hell
04:11that we got two years ago again where everyone gets hurt.
04:14I know they might be able to sustain it,
04:16but Cooper Cupps now hurt.
04:18Puka's out, minimum five to seven weeks.
04:21The offensive line, everyone seems to be hurt already.
04:23Stafford's going to get beat.
04:25I don't know.
04:26That to me was – that's maybe an overreaction.
04:29This will be us touching on that game.
04:30I just – I don't know, man.
04:32Yeah, bad vibes.
04:34That's what it is, bad vibes.
04:36Speaking of bad vibes, the Patriots, their home opener,
04:41coming off a surprise win against Cincinnati.
04:44I think this was a game that before the season started,
04:46before I even saw the results against Cincinnati,
04:48I said this is a game that I'm picking them to win.
04:51I think that – I said they were going to be 5-12,
04:53and this was a game I thought they were going to win.
04:55They had opportunities to win,
04:57and one of the things that jumped out to me about this game, Will,
05:00is they got outcoached.
05:03That was such a key checkmark in their favor in week one.
05:07They were disciplined.
05:08They played smart football.
05:09They didn't lose the game.
05:10They let the Bengals do that.
05:11Well, in this game, the 56-yard touchdown to DK Metcalf
05:15was a check that the Patriots defense made
05:17after Seattle made a check at the line of scrimmage.
05:20Max pressure.
05:21They're thinking the ball is going to come out quick.
05:23Christian Gonzalez sits down.
05:24Kyle Duggar doesn't go with DK Metcalf,
05:27and DK Metcalf is 10 yards behind the secondary.
05:29That's a touchdown.
05:30That's a huge play, and that was, again,
05:32a coaching point for them.
05:34Reaction to what they were seeing from Seattle,
05:37and they got burned by it.
05:40A blitz again in overtime, 3rd and 6th.
05:43Like, hey, just bow up here, force an incompletion,
05:46and make Seattle make a decision.
05:47Go for it, you know, at round midfield,
05:49or punt it and try to stick us down inside the 10
05:52and see what happens.
05:54They blitz again.
05:55Gino backs away from the pressure.
05:57Find Charbonnet in the flat.
05:59Gonzalez, Christian Gonzalez,
06:00instead of trying to physically run through Charbonnet,
06:03which he's probably not going to win that battle,
06:05but at that moment, close to the sticks.
06:07That's what you got to do.
06:08He goes low.
06:09Charbonnet gets the extra yard.
06:10That's a first down.
06:12I thought, by and large, they just could not fool Gino.
06:15In fact, you want to know a reaction?
06:17Gino looked like a top-10 quarterback in that game.
06:19I charted two bad throws slash decisions of the 44 throws
06:23that he made in that game.
06:24Like, that's elite stuff.
06:27They still can't get their wide receivers involved,
06:29and while they threw the ball a lot more in the first half,
06:31they ended up with three catches on six targets
06:34to their wide receivers for 19 yards.
06:36That is on Alex Van Pelt and that offense.
06:38And look, there's offensive line issues that I detailed again.
06:41I had them down for 15 pressures on 33 dropbacks,
06:44which is, again, an absurd number.
06:46Last week, I had them at 48%.
06:47That, I believe, is 45%.
06:49That's not sustainable.
06:50You could tell as the second half went on.
06:52Jacoby Brissett went from looking down the field
06:55to looking at the rush.
06:56He still bailed them out a bunch of times,
06:58either not taking the sack by, you know,
07:00sort of scrambling and throwing the ball away,
07:02or even, in a couple cases, making plays off the scramble.
07:05But that's not his game, and that's what they forced him to do.
07:08And then I'll give you another one.
07:10Really bad clock management before the end of the half.
07:13They had the ball pinned inside their own 20,
07:16and they sort of caught the twixt in between.
07:18Like, do we want to try to throw the ball here,
07:21or do we want to just run the clock out?
07:23And Seattle wisely, and I was critical of them,
07:26I'm like, use a timeout here.
07:27They're not in any hurry.
07:29You're going to get the ball back.
07:30Well, they saved their timeouts.
07:31The Patriots end up throwing some incomplete passes,
07:33and then Seattle goes right down the field
07:36and kicks a field goal right before the half.
07:38It was a three-point game.
07:39I know three points in overtime,
07:41but they just gift them three points
07:42by not being totally sure of how they wanted to handle that.
07:45So, to me, a lot of issues came to roost for the Patriots
07:49that we talked about in week one.
07:52The margin for error for this team
07:54with a roster that is devoid of blue chippers,
07:57that is devoid of explosive skill players.
08:01Their longest play yesterday, Will, was a tight end screen.
08:04Well, their longest pass play
08:06was a tight end screen to Hunter Henry.
08:08The ball was thrown four yards behind the line of scrimmage.
08:10They just caught him in the right call.
08:12Henry storms down the sidelines,
08:14doesn't have to make any moves.
08:15Like, that's the extent of their explosives in the passing game.
08:19Like, they are so challenged
08:21that if it doesn't go right,
08:23if they make one little mistake or two mistakes,
08:26they're just not good enough to overcome it.
08:28Yeah, I think a couple of things stood out,
08:30kind of rewatching the game yesterday.
08:32They ran the ball great, right?
08:3336 times, you know, five-plus yards of carry.
08:36They're going to probably have to lean on that on Thursday night.
08:38But it only can get you so far
08:41if you're still going to give up passing plays and big plays.
08:43Because, like, they're a team that played
08:46from ahead of points yesterday.
08:48And, you know, again, I think there's talent on this team.
08:51But I don't think there's, like, anywhere near enough talent
08:54to make up for it, as you mentioned.
08:55And then, look, the reason that I think Patriots fans
08:59are obviously excited to see Drake May at some point
09:01is that, like, you can kind of open up the offense
09:04just in terms of, like, the highs and lows
09:06you're going to have to live with.
09:07Brissette's very much part of the reason why he's a backup,
09:09but also part of the reason why I think team coaches love him.
09:13He's got a really, really high floor.
09:15And we've seen that through two weeks.
09:17He's going to make the killer mistakes.
09:18He gets the ball out quick, usually over the middle of the field,
09:20tight ends, running backs.
09:22Once in a while, the receiver, maybe once.
09:24But, like, never going to make the mistakes.
09:26I think that's obviously what Drake May,
09:27you're going to see mistakes.
09:28And then, obviously, the highs.
09:30Look, Seattle did, you know, the Patriots did a good job,
09:33generally speaking, in terms of, you know, 44 attempts.
09:35You know, obviously not ideal to give up.
09:37Gino was really good yesterday.
09:38He got home a couple of times.
09:40But I just look at, like, they stopped the run against Seattle.
09:43That's great.
09:44Two and a half yards of pop.
09:46That's obviously ideal, right?
09:47You want to kind of limit that.
09:48But I feel like if you're in New England,
09:50you feel like that one got away.
09:52Look, I picked them to win, you know, on, I guess, our pot on Friday
09:56because I felt like kind of what unfolded mostly happened.
10:00That's the way I thought.
10:01I just didn't force Seattle into those killer mistakes.
10:04And if you're in New England, again, I just think, yeah,
10:07obviously this season, again, all about the coach,
10:09all about the quarterback and the young players.
10:10But that's one of those, like, learning how to win.
10:12They kind of felt like they did that last week.
10:14I just think you're kicking yourself going, man,
10:16like could have started nicely 2-0 here.
10:19Jets game, who knows, right?
10:21The Jets open up as a touchdown favorite.
10:23I still, you know, we'll talk about it later in the week.
10:25I think that game favors the Jets in a lot of ways.
10:27But if you're in New England, like, hey, we could have stolen one,
10:29maybe stolen three in a row.
10:31And now we're 3-0.
10:32And when Drake May eventually comes in,
10:34we're, like, playing competitive football games.
10:36I just, if you're Seattle, that's like, whew, got out of there.
10:41And if you're in New England, you're like, damn.
10:42Like, I just, we had that.
10:44I felt like we had it.
10:45And, you know, again, it's just disappointing, I think,
10:47if you're New England.
10:48I'll give you one more coaching decision that I quibbled with.
10:50I wrote about it last night on Boston Sports Journal.
10:52So, Gerard Mayo, Alex Van Pelt, we're a tough physical team.
10:56That's what we're going to be.
10:57And, obviously, you saw 181 yards rushing.
11:00That's their mentality.
11:02Overtime, third and one, your first possession of overtime,
11:05your only possession of overtime.
11:07They decide to go unbalanced.
11:10So, Hunter Henry is lining up as your left tackle.
11:12Your left tackle at this point is Caden Wallace,
11:14because Vidarian Lowe, your left tackle,
11:16who started the game, got hurt in the last play,
11:18the last offensive play of regulation.
11:21Wallace jumps over to the right side to be the muscle tight end
11:25on the unbalanced formation alongside the right tackle,
11:28Michael Nwenu.
11:31If you're going to be a physical team, why?
11:34And, look, I understand you're not going to run behind Hunter Henry.
11:38You've already told Seattle that's not happening,
11:40because you don't run behind Hunter Henry.
11:42That's not something anybody does.
11:43He'll occasionally get run behind,
11:44just because you can't just run to one side all the time.
11:47But, so, they do this.
11:49They get penalized for illegal formation,
11:51because Wallace doesn't report,
11:52because he probably doesn't know that he's supposed to report,
11:55because he probably didn't practice this play the entire week.
11:57You want to know why he didn't practice the play the entire week?
11:59Because Vidarian Lowe was the starter all week,
12:01and Chuck Socorro, who left the team on Saturday
12:04and is pondering retirement, he was the backup tackle.
12:07He was there all week, and I can't, and I'm headed to this.
12:11We're taping this Monday morning.
12:12I'm headed to the locker room around noon today.
12:14Patriots will open it up.
12:15I didn't see Cade Wallace after the game,
12:17and I want to ask him if he practiced the play,
12:19because my guess is he probably didn't.
12:20My guess is he barely got any reps, if any at all,
12:23at left tackle during the course of the week.
12:25So, instead of just lining up like you line up and say,
12:27we're tougher than you, and we're going to shove the ball down your throat,
12:30you tried to get cute, and not only did you get called for the illegal penalty,
12:34you still got stuffed on the run,
12:36because they said they're not going to the left side.
12:38They're coming to the right.
12:39Tyrell Dotson shoots the gap, makes the stop.
12:42Alex Van Pelt, you don't get to talk to the offensive coordinators
12:44after the game.
12:45Hopefully, we get them at some point this week.
12:47I'd like to know what the hell the thinking was there,
12:49because that play didn't make a lot of sense to me.
12:52You punt the ball away.
12:53You never get it back.
12:54It's all over.
12:55All right, onto your Jets.
12:57It was interesting, because I'm texting you in the first half,
13:00because I'm looking at the – obviously, games are going on at the same time.
13:03I'm at the Patriots game.
13:04You're watching the Jets game, and I'm like,
13:06what in the holy hell is happening to the Jets?
13:09They figured it out, Will, but it took some time.
13:13Yeah, it took some time.
13:14I was just looking through the PFF offensive line stats.
13:19Take them for what you will.
13:20Tyron Smith, great outs.
13:21The second-best tackle, ADT, rebound game.
13:23They gave up one pressure and one sack.
13:25Rodgers has been sacked, I believe, three times
13:27and pressured like five through two games.
13:32The Jets offensive line has been bottom two or three in the league
13:35for like a decade, so them even having a semblance of a pulse there.
13:38Their first, I would say, 20-ish minutes of that game,
13:4522-ish minutes of that game, the Jets looked horrible.
13:48I mean, offense had no rhythm, run, run, pass.
13:53They even get a first down on the first drive.
13:55Rodgers has an intentional grounding, which was very weird.
13:57I don't know what happened there.
13:59I don't know if it was miscommunication at Rodgers,
14:00just kind of like shaking the rust off.
14:02He looked a little rusty.
14:03The defense looked terrible on the first drive, slow,
14:06not running the football well, bad gap responsibility,
14:08bad eye discipline.
14:11Just it was tough.
14:12It was like, man, like this is ugly.
14:16Like they got to figure it out here.
14:18Will Levis has the brain fart of all brain farts again.
14:22It's just trying to get at it.
14:25One of the hardest things with young quarterbacks is trying to,
14:29you know, we saw this last time with Caleb,
14:31and we'll see this with a lot of guys.
14:32They're all different varying mistakes in terms of stupidity or not, right?
14:35But the getting out of their head, Bill Belichick talked about this so much,
14:39of like if you just take the play that's just like, ah, man,
14:44incompletion or whatever it is, they get three points.
14:47You giving it away costs your team momentum.
14:50So that changed the game a little bit.
14:52Brandon Echols comes up with the interception, maybe the year.
14:55I mean, he mossed with one hand an interception.
14:59He's a guy who DJ Reed, you know, was late and active.
15:02So CJ mostly gets hurt early on.
15:05It's like, I'm like, geez, man, this is tough.
15:09They click it into gear.
15:11They have a really long drive.
15:12Rodgers goes through the quick game, you know,
15:14basically not even taking a drop, just hitting guys.
15:16The defense starts to kind of figure it out a little bit.
15:19The offense goes down there.
15:21They score on probably Nate Hackett's best play call of his career.
15:24They've run this kind of swing pass to Bruce Hall over and over again.
15:27They come back to a screen on the other side.
15:29Braylon Allen, the youngest player in NFL history,
15:31I think whatever, 85 years to score a touchdown.
15:34You know, scores his first NFL touchdown.
15:36He had a lot of juice yesterday, 245 pound back.
15:39He's a guy who the Jets might have one of,
15:42if not the best running back rooms in the league,
15:44at least through a couple of weeks now.
15:45Yesterday, 170 total yards, two touchdowns or three touchdowns.
15:48I apologize.
15:50You know, in terms of, you know, it kind of goes in a half.
15:54You're like, okay.
15:55I think it was 10 to seven Tennessee, if I'm not mistaken.
15:57But it was, you know, it's,
15:58you're feeling probably decent of your tights and Jets fans are kind of on edge.
16:00The Jets come out and score a touchdown right away.
16:02And you're like, whoa, like we haven't seen this in forever.
16:04Rodgers again, make some special throws, Bruce Hall.
16:07Rodgers wasn't great yesterday by any means.
16:10He wasn't like vintage Rodgers,
16:11but when they needed him to be Rodgers, he was Rodgers.
16:13And I think that's the biggest difference.
16:16You know, he's at least through two games.
16:18It's just two games.
16:19Analytically has been quite good.
16:22And then he's been, you know, QBR, QB rating, yards per attempt, five,
16:2610% better, at least through two games than he was in 2022,
16:29which is like 80% of Rodgers.
16:32And that whole conversation was kind of Jets get 80 to 85% of peak Rodgers.
16:37And then he's going to get better as time goes on.
16:39The Jets figured it out in the second half.
16:41They come up with the stops, will McDonald three sacks,
16:43but his best game is a pro by far.
16:46The damper, I guess,
16:47in this entire game was Jermaine Johnson ends up tearing his Achilles.
16:51Seems like the Jets can't have an important win without a guy getting hurt.
16:54And, you know, Johnson tears Achilles was obviously sad to see.
16:57He's a talented player pro bowler a year ago.
17:00So, you know, overall, I thought it was a hard fucking,
17:02I think Tennessee is better than as a roster is much better than I think we all
17:06kind of thought going into the year.
17:07They play really hard on defense.
17:08They've got some talent.
17:09Ridley made probably his best play.
17:11And since getting, you know,
17:13maybe since coming back from coming back to football,
17:15Deandre Hopkins had a good game sauce.
17:17Gardner had his worst game of his career by far.
17:19CJ Mosley again was hurt.
17:20Jermaine heard Michael Carter banged up.
17:22So just get out of there, a touchdown victory.
17:24It's their first,
17:25first win on the road as more than three point favorites since 2010.
17:30One of the craziest stats I've seen.
17:32But again, overall,
17:33I just felt like Jets had to have this one.
17:36Tennessee's probably kicking themselves feeling like, man,
17:39the way we,
17:40the way we played for three quarters against Chicago and when we played the
17:43first quarter and a half against the Jets, we should be two and O.
17:45They'll be feisty this year.
17:47If Levis can cut out the mistakes, but overall,
17:49Jets go to one-on-one and set up a one-on-one versus one-on-one matchup on
17:53Thursday night of two teams.
17:55Yeah.
17:56Sneaky big game for the Jets on Thursday night.
17:57Right.
17:58And, and as you mentioned, some of the injuries,
18:00obviously Johnson won't be out there.
18:01We'll see about Mosley and Carter.
18:03We'll see if Reed can get back in time for Thursday's game.
18:05As you mentioned being a late scratch, but this is a game.
18:08I'm sure they looked at it and said, Oh, we were beating the Patriots.
18:11And the difference between two and one and one and two,
18:14the expectations in, in New York are huge.
18:17So yeah, don't, don't, don't screw it up.
18:20And then meanwhile, the Patriots are coming in and going, we just,
18:22we just left one on the table that we shouldn't have left.
18:24And maybe feel, even though after losing,
18:26maybe feel like the guys all slept on us and we might,
18:29we might be way better than you thought.
18:31So we'll see that as a,
18:33that's going to be an interesting one that will be all over as the week goes
18:36on.

19:41Speaking of games and speaking of just unexpected,
19:45the Saints go into Dallas and curb stomp the Cowboys.
19:50And I have two words for you.
19:53One name, Clint Kubiak,
19:55the offensive coordinator from the Kyle Shanahan tree,
19:58obviously son of Gary Kubiak,
19:59former coach coordinator across the league.
20:02He was the passing game coordinator, as I mentioned,
20:05for the 49ers last season under Shanahan.
20:07And what a job he has done through the first two weeks.
20:11They have 91 points.
20:13So this is second most in the first two games by any team since the 1970 AFL NFL merger.
20:21That's stupid because I don't think anybody would have thought
20:24a Derek Carr-led offense with, is Alvin Kamara cashed?
20:28Alvin Kamara had four touchdowns yesterday.
20:30Like they look as explosive as any team in the league.
20:34And I find it very interesting.
20:36You can light up somebody like Mike Zimmer,
20:38who I figured like Zimmer's going to give them problems.
20:40Zimmer's been around the league a long time.
20:41He'll figure out like, hey, what they did against the Panthers.
20:44That's the Panthers.
20:45I've got more talent.
20:47They were base personnel.
20:48The Cowboys were 50 plays yesterday,
20:5150 plays trying to match the two tight ends, the physicality,
20:54the play-action game that Kubiak has brought to Derek Carr and the Saints.
20:58And obviously by the numbers, they couldn't match it at all.
21:02Carr pushing the ball down the field, which again is not something that,
21:06well, he did it the one year with John Gruden,
21:08but it's not something that he's ever really been comfortable.
21:10The touchdown to Shaheed, they're playing too deep.
21:13And Shaheed just runs by him and he just throws it by him and it's a touchdown.
21:17It's like, wait, that was Derek Carr?
21:20Like he doesn't do that.
21:21So I just think they're playing with such a level of confidence
21:24and a belief in their offensive coordinator right now
21:26that really it blew me away what they were able to do against the Cowboys
21:30in the Cowboys home opener.
21:32Yeah, obviously if you want to put money on a guy to be a head coach next year,
21:35that's Bill Belichick being the Giants coach,
21:37which feels more and more likely by the weeks go on.
21:40Clint Kubiak getting a job at some point.
21:42Derek Carr, 99.4 QBR, 15 yards an attempt.
21:46Obviously special.
21:47Kamara, the three touchdowns, as you mentioned, they ran it for five yards a pop.
21:51Shaheed, four targets, four catches.
21:53Chris Alave, six targets, four catches.
21:57Carr was efficient, was awesome.
21:59The Cowboys, again, haven't played really well through two weeks,
22:02and I think some of the questions about them,
22:05I thought Zimmer would do a really good job with Derek Carr
22:08and kind of win that matchup.
22:10He obviously did not.
22:12That's obviously not his best day by any means.
22:15I just am a little concerned from a Cowboys perspective,
22:18from the idea that I think all going into the year,
22:20there was a lot of distractions, and they go into Cleveland,
22:23they just were a better football team than Cleveland,
22:26and obviously the quarterback play and stuff like that.
22:28This was a bit concerning.
22:29The Cowboys usually have one or two of these a year.
22:31They had this game last year at Buffalo.
22:34I just didn't think we'd see it already.
22:36I thought this would be a game we see down the line,
22:38and the Cowboys are 11-2, and they're kind of December football.
22:42We know they get tight a little bit there.
22:44But, yeah, the Cowboys didn't run the ball well at all.
22:4621 attempts, three yards of pop.
22:48C.D. Lamb was C.D. Lamb, and Tolbert had some moments,
22:51but not a lot from a defensive perspective.
22:55Not a lot.
22:58Parsons pretty much did nothing.
23:03I don't know how real New Orleans is or is not.
23:05I don't want to put a damper on them.
23:07It's two weeks.
23:08They're riding hot right now.
23:10There is no question.
23:11If they sustain this over a four- or five-week stretch,
23:13and Derek Carr, election-year Derek Carr, is a beast.
23:16His best two career years, and they've gotten him paid twice, 2016, 2020.
23:20It actually is really weird.
23:22I clicked on the stats.
23:23It's literally election-year Derek Carr is special.
23:25Yeah, can they continue to put this together?
23:27Can they keep being a physical football team,
23:29defensively playing really fast, and, well,
23:31obviously an older team that has played together for a while,
23:34especially that kind of core group of, you know, Davis and Jordan
23:37and Matthew and these other guys.
23:39Gray Anderson obviously had a nice day yesterday and things like that.
23:43I guess point being, this to me says more about New Orleans' fast start
23:47than Dallas, just because I feel like Dallas hasn't looked good, really,
23:50in two weeks.
23:51So we'll see what happens.
23:52But that to me was one of the most shocking games,
23:54and the other one, Ravens-Raiders, to me,
23:56the two most shocking just because of road games,
24:00two teams I think going into the year we were not high on at all,
24:03and two other teams that you kind of expected to bounce back
24:06in some type of way.
24:08Yeah, you led me right to it.
24:09Ravens fall to the Raiders.
24:11They blow a 10-point lead in the second half of the game.
24:15They get booed.
24:16It's actually a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.
24:18They get booed on their home field in their home opener.
24:22Here's one for you, and I think we talked about this in the preview
24:25leading up to the season, even after last week.
24:30It's going to take longer for the offensive line to gel than I thought,
24:33and maybe it doesn't gel.
24:34I don't know.
24:35They're playing revolving door at right tackle.
24:39A lot of mistakes yesterday, just like self-inflicted wounds.
24:43The interception goes off Bateman's hands.
24:45That was a killer.
24:46False start by Derek Henry, of all people.
24:48Kills a drive.
24:49They shanked a punt, a 24-yard punt.
24:51When you need your best punt, you get your absolute worst punt
24:53by Jordan Stout.
24:55Just very uncharacteristic of a Harbaugh coached team,
25:01and look, I said this team was winning the Super Bowl this year,
25:05and I'm not going to step off that curb just yet.
25:10But early signs, not very good.
25:12They need to find a little bit more of an identity.
25:14I think the interesting thing to me too here,
25:16and we talked about it after the last week, is the Derek Henry usage.
25:22He got going a bit in the second half.
25:24You saw some of the old Derek Henry, stiff arm,
25:26shoving guys to the ground, had a touchdown.
25:29But their offense feels a little too static
25:34and a lot less explosive when he's on the football field for them.
25:40They kind of should have known that coming into this, I feel like, maybe.
25:43Like, hey, this is how we're going to have to play if he's here.
25:45He's not going to bend to us.
25:46We're going to have to bend to him.
25:48And to this point, eh, it's not been great.
25:52Would you rather have J.K. Dobbins for two million bucks a year
25:54or Derek Henry?
25:56I guess, obviously, J.K. Dobbins has injury history.
25:59I get it.
26:00I'm not saying that the move's a bad move or anything.
26:02It's just sometimes styles don't fit.
26:04I guess I'm a bit concerned that, like, I don't know,
26:08maybe a couple years ago, the Ravens with Derek Henry
26:12would have been a different team the way they were just so run first.
26:15I mean, look, they threw it 34 times yesterday.
26:18Mark Andrews not being quite as involved through two weeks
26:21as I expected.
26:22I don't know that Flowers at 11 targets Andrews at 5
26:24is their best way to get the best out of Lamar.
26:27I don't know that Andrews is moving all that well.
26:29He's not moving.
26:30I don't know.
26:31Something's not right.
26:32So I don't know if it's injury related.
26:33I don't know if it's a lot of the injuries building up
26:35over the last couple years.
26:37Look, I'd say likely three targets after the game he had
26:39against Kansas City felt weird.
26:41I don't think Lamar was great yesterday.
26:43I thought he was fine.
26:44But he's a two-time MVP.
26:46So 21 to 34 pick, two couple sacks, middle in QBR,
26:50to me is not what you're like.
26:53Dreaming of against the Raiders team that I think the Raiders
26:56recipe to win was a lot of Devontae, a lot of Brock Bowers
27:00who looks really good.
27:01You know, they didn't run the football at all.
27:03I mean, a yard and a half an attempt is horrendous.
27:07And they got sacked a bunch.
27:08But Minchu was super efficient.
27:10You know, the pick was horrible.
27:11And he took a bunch of sacks.
27:12That was the Gardner-Minchu experience,
27:14like some really nice stuff and was fairly accurate,
27:16high completion percentage.
27:17But I don't know, 38 attempts, you know,
27:21275 yards isn't like going to blow you away.
27:23My point being just like they were tough on defense.
27:26Crosby was absolute demon.
27:28Two sacks, four TFLs, a pass, deflect.
27:30I mean, pretty goddamn good.
27:34I just, to me, this is, I'm not trying to downplay it.
27:38It's an awesome Raiders win.
27:39I'm not trying to take anything away from them.
27:41And, you know, I'm sure I'm being harder on the Raiders than intended.
27:45But to me, this is all about the Ravens.
27:46And they're 0-2 now.
27:48And, again, this isn't panic time yet.
27:50But we know that, like, they can't afford to drop to 0-3.
27:54That's just not recoverable, especially in a division where Cincinnati
27:57probably will get to it, but probably better than,
27:59much better than they looked week one.
28:01I don't know if they're quite as good as they think they are.
28:03Pittsburgh's not good on offense at all.
28:06I mean, they're putrid on offense.
28:08But, like, they play awesome defense.
28:10Even if two offenses they played sucked.
28:13I'm not saying that.
28:14It just, they've looked really good on defense.
28:16And Cleveland showed a pulse yesterday.
28:18Again, I don't know what Cleveland really is.
28:20And I don't think any of us do because of the Watson thing.
28:22It's really weird.
28:23And we're not going to touch on that today.
28:24But, really, a lot of drama around that, obviously.
28:26But they go in on a road game.
28:27And, like, they're 0-2.
28:29And the Ravens are a team that I think I picked to be either the 1 or the 2
28:33or the 3 seed.
28:34I think they were a top 3 seed for me.
28:35You picked them in the title.
28:36I think they were – they looked really good in week one.
28:38And I don't know if this is just a letdown.
28:40We kind of expect to go roll over the Raiders.
28:41We're going home.
28:43It's up to me how they respond the next two weeks.
28:45Specifically, they are the most – how are they going to respond?
28:49Because if they're as good as we think they are or could be,
28:53they go out the next couple weeks and get back on track.
28:55They're 2-2, 3-2.
28:57They go out and lose one of the next two, you're like,
28:59now this isn't really a letdown game.
29:01Now it's like pressure's on and you're not looking good.
29:03I don't know.
29:04Lamar just – someone said it to me yesterday,
29:06and I don't know how to like – this is the best I can describe it.
29:08There's three or four plays a game, three or four times within a play,
29:11where you go two or three things go nobody else,
29:15or maybe two or three other people in the league can do this.
29:18And there's one or two things you're like, dude, what are you doing?
29:20Like it just feels like there's too much of that through a couple of weeks
29:24where I'm just like, can we stabilize?
29:27Can we get back to 25 to 30 pass attempts?
29:30Running the football more.
29:31Leaning on this defense.
29:33I just think we both – you know, the coordinator situation.
29:36I don't know.
29:37I just – I don't feel great about the way the Ravens have looked.
29:39Maybe it's just a letdown game, but got to get it corrected quickly.
29:43And, you know, they go to Dallas.
29:45Then they have Buffalo and Cincinnati.
29:46Like this isn't – they got to get two of those three, I think,
29:49to give themselves a shot here.
29:51What you say about Lamar, it's the gift and the curse, right?
29:53When you can do those sorts of things that you're blessed with
29:56that no one else is.
29:58But there are times where you want to do it because you can do it,
30:02but you shouldn't do it in those instances.
30:05How about the Buccaneers?
30:06Going into Detroit.
30:07Detroit with the – you know, I think we said it was the game of the week
30:10last week, game week one.
30:12Win 20-16.
30:14That was a rematch of their divisional round game,
30:17which to the Bucs' credit in that game,
30:20they gave the Lions all they could handle before losing 31-23.
30:23The thing that stood out to me – well,
30:25there are several things that stood out to me about this one.
30:27But the Buccaneers, that bend but don't break defense, the Todd Bulls,
30:31they gave up 463 yards in the game.
30:34Didn't have a single sack of Jared Goff.
30:36You figure, like, that's it.
30:37You're not winning that football game.
30:39The Lions get in the red zone seven times and score one touchdown.
30:46One touchdown and finish with just 16 points in the game.
30:49So that's three blown red zone opportunities.
30:51You just come away with absolutely zero points.
30:55And I flip it to the Lions and say, like, weird play calls.
31:03Ben Johnson, again, like, Ben Johnson's going to be a head coach.
31:06Ben Johnson could have been a head coach last year if he wanted to be.
31:09Kind of got – much like I felt like the Patriots did,
31:11got a little cute at times.
31:13Some strange play calls.
31:16They were sloppy.
31:17Some game management stuff.
31:19They cost themselves 17 men, I believe it was,
31:22on the field for a field goal attempt.
31:24Guys didn't know whether they were coming or going.
31:26Cost them three points.
31:27That at the end of the half, like, they were just things that –
31:30the way they were so buttoned up last year,
31:32how disciplined they were.
31:34This was a very undisciplined – it's crazy to say –
31:38a very un-Lion-like performance in week two.
31:42Yeah, I think we talked about before the game I thought Detroit would win,
31:45and I thought Detroit would win because I felt like, you know,
31:48bucks rolled, Lions coming off the game.
31:50Maybe they'd start slow.
31:52They did start slow.
31:54So I was right there.
31:55I just thought Detroit would be able to kind of figure it out at the end.
31:58And it didn't feel like a lot like last year.
32:00I felt like last year for a while in the NFC divisional round,
32:03and then Lions made the mistakes and Tampa Bay didn't.
32:07I believe, if I'm not mistaken, Baker in the last 19 games, you know,
32:11through the NFL last year and then to start this year, the first two games,
32:14he's third in the NFL in touchdowns.
32:16Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield are giving life to –
32:20is there four elite quarterbacks in the 2018 class?
32:23But Godwin looks healthy and good.
32:26Looks much more like Chris Godwin of three and four years ago,
32:30two years ago even.
32:32You know, it's not even like they got a ton out of Evans.
32:35They didn't run the ball particularly well at Tampa Bay.
32:37I don't even think they threw it particularly well.
32:39But they made the plays when they needed to, and Detroit made all the mistakes.
32:42You know, like it just – it is what it is.
32:45You know, Tampa fumbles twice, recovers both, has the one turnover.
32:49The Lions – golf, I can't stress this enough.
32:55Like, Jared Goff is a good football player.
32:58He's a good quarterback and he fits really well with what they want to do.
33:01There are limitations to Jared Goff's game, and he does at times make mistakes.
33:06And when he does, the Lions are just not going to win football games
33:08the way they – with as much ease.
33:10And, like, I don't know if this is a little bit of a letdown of, like,
33:13the emotional rollercoaster high of Sunday night game going into overtime
33:17and then not quite getting – being sharp.
33:20I think they'll be fine long term.
33:21Like, I'm not worried about Detroit.
33:22I just – I think Tampa Bay and New Orleans being really strong
33:27to start the year just does make you think, like, hey, did we –
33:31we talked a lot about it.
33:32It's like Atlanta's not quite as good.
33:33I think me and you both said, like, Tampa Bay probably is an 8- or 9-win team.
33:37We just weren't sure what they were.
33:40Can they maybe push to 10?
33:41This is a game they weren't supposed to get.
33:43Can they push to 10 and Atlanta can't get there?
33:45Maybe Tampa Bay is hosting a playoff game again.
33:48Can New Orleans push to 9 or 10 as well?
33:50This division is three teams, and maybe it's only two.
33:53We don't – we're not sure Atlanta's good yet,
33:55and I'm not so sure tonight they're in for some easy – you know, AJ Brown,
33:59I guess, you know, might be not playing.
34:01Yeah, not playing.
34:02But even still, like, we'll see.
34:05At my point, Kirk does not look healthy, obviously,
34:07and there's all that stuff.
34:08But I just – I'm impressed by Tampa Bay.
34:10I think Todd Bowles has gotten progressively better and better
34:13and better as a coach.
34:14These are games Todd Bowles with the Jets or even Todd Bowles early in his
34:18Tampa tenure are not winning.
34:21Baker's just – he's just playing good quarterback.
34:25Like, it's not always special.
34:27It's not always pleasantly easy on the eye, but it's – he's a good quarterback
34:31right now.
34:32Like, I don't know.
34:33Like, he's a good value at 30 – what is he, 30 million bucks a year?
34:35Like, it's quality value.
34:37He's one of the top 15 quarterbacks in the league.
34:39I don't think that's, like, a crazy statement,
34:41and they've got elite talent of weapons.
34:43And I just – the one thing with Detroit, and I said this about Baltimore,
34:47they're both – part of their MO, and then we can move off the scene,
34:50but part of their MO is they are so goddamn physical.
34:54They will beat you up with that offensive line, bruising back, speed,
34:58the whole nine yards.
34:59They ran it for five yards a pop yesterday,
35:02but they only ran it 27 times and threw it 56.
35:05And –
35:06Ben Johnson.
35:07Ben Johnson, I just – sometimes I always worry, like,
35:11the hot-topic offensive coordinators, they're great,
35:14and I'm not discounting it at all.
35:15But sometimes the Rams do this, the Niners do this, all these teams.
35:18Cincinnati does it.
35:20When you can punch the rock a little bit, like, everything around the league,
35:23and this is something that we didn't really hit on,
35:25but we'll hit on next episode.
35:27Everyone around the league, no one's throwing for a lot of yards.
35:30Everyone's running the football better.
35:32Everything's passing-wise is down and running-wise,
35:34people are trying to punch you in the mouth.
35:37Detroit was punching Tampa Bay in the mouth yesterday,
35:3927 carries for 140 yards, and that touchdown is good.
35:42Like, that's really damn good.
35:44And they gave up three yards to public.
35:46You should have won that game.
35:47So, to me, I just – Detroit, I kind of want them to, like,
35:50almost rebrand just a little bit, 10% more running,
35:53I think puts golf in a much more advantageous situation.
35:55You want golf 30, 35 attempts, play action, not 55, 56,
35:59because that's when the turnovers start to happen.
36:01Yeah, I agree 100%, and I wonder if Dan Campbell has that conversation
36:04with Ben Johnson saying, buddy, we are a Detroit football team.
36:09We bite kneecaps, dude.
36:10Yeah, kneecaps.
36:11That's right.
36:12It's what it's all about, kneecaps.
36:14Kneecaps?
36:15The Vikings kneecapped the 49ers.
36:17How's that for a transition?
36:18Not great, right?
36:19I know.
36:2023-17, Vikings now 2-0.
36:22You mentioned it at the top with our reactions from week one.
36:26There were probably overreactions, but I think Kevin O'Connell
36:29and Brian Flores are doing the very best job in the National Football League
36:33right now because I looked at that team and said,
36:35this is the year they're taking a step back.
36:37Cousins is gone.
36:38They were trying to make the transition to J.J. McCarthy.
36:41They bring in Darnall as the veteran stopgap insurance,
36:45and yet O'Connell has Darnall playing good football.
36:47Not great football, good football.
36:49Sam will still put the ball in harm's way.
36:50He did it yesterday a couple times.
36:52Did throw an interception.
36:53Had another one that should have been picked off.
36:55But there's also some trust there such that you're letting Sam Darnall
37:00drop back in the zone end zone and throw a freaking strike
37:04for a 97-yard touchdown to Justin Jefferson where, like, I would say to me,
37:09if you didn't trust your quarterback, you would hand off
37:12or throw something quick.
37:14No.
37:15He said, Sam, you know what I want to do here.
37:17You know what you need to do, and he went out and did it.
37:19So if he can continue to do that on a consistent basis,
37:22that offense is going to be way better than I thought it was going to be.
37:25And then I'll give you the other part of this, and this is the Flores part.
37:29I don't know if you've seen the video yet.
37:31Brock Purdy goes up to Brian Flores, the Vikings defensive coordinator,
37:35after the game and says to him, the scheme is crazy.
37:40And the pressure rate yesterday, 34%, six sacks.
37:45They were doing it with stunts, 15 blitzes on dropbacks.
37:49Purdy 10 of 15 against the blitz for just 91 yards and an interception.
37:54And to me, even more so than last year when Flores came with this
37:59attacking style of defense.
38:01The talent is so much better.
38:03The talent is far greater.
38:05Losing Daniil Hunter to the Texans, he's a very good player, terrific player.
38:09But taking that money and reallocating it and getting three pieces,
38:13Van Ginkle has been part of this mix.
38:16The kid from Houston, why am I drawing a blank?
38:18Jonathan?
38:19Blake Hashman, Grenard.
38:20Yeah, Grenard, thank you.
38:22They're all contributing in a big way, and you just see,
38:26it's like having Gilmore back there.
38:28There's just, the pieces are better aligned,
38:32and they were really good last year defensively.
38:34This group is better.
38:35If this group can stay healthy,
38:37I'm really curious to see how far he can push it because he's pushing it,
38:41and he pushed a really good 49ers offense, albeit without McCaffrey,
38:46but looked great against the Jets last week.
38:48He kicked them in the mouth.
38:50I mean, it was phenomenal.
38:51Jordan Mason still five yards a pop on 20 carries.
38:54He's looked quite good.
38:55Good Debo game, good Kittle game.
38:57Aiyuk still rounding in the form, which is to be expected.
39:00Like, Niners threw for, what, 319, ran for 100 plus.
39:05Nick Bosa was amazing.
39:06Fred Warner might be the best football player on the planet at any position.
39:09Like, do you expect to go win that game?
39:11Right?
39:12Like, you just do.
39:14Blake Hashman, 13 tackles, a sack,
39:16a tackle for the last three passes deflected and a quarterback hit.
39:19Have a day.
39:20Have a day.
39:21Van Genkel, as you mentioned.
39:23I just, to me, this game comes down to, and this might be a hot take,
39:27but I wonder if they'll look back and say,
39:31JJ getting hurt with a very, a much, one of the most, you know,
39:36I guess well-operated on meniscus is, like,
39:39one of the most common injuries.
39:40And will they look back and say, like,
39:43the best thing for our football team this year was JJ going down,
39:46which took the pressure off of Sam with the guy breathing down his neck
39:49because he's played free.
39:50It's kind of given them a, like, no one believes in us.
39:53And also, like, who cares what happens this year almost in mentality where,
39:57I don't know, Jordan Love goes down and Green Bay, you know, won.
40:00But, like, I don't really know what Green Bay is yet.
40:03We're kind of trying to figure that out, how long is Love at, et cetera.
40:05And Chicago's looked not very good.
40:08And they have their own issues.
40:09Their coaching staff's a mess.
40:10And, you know, Minnesota's sitting there going, like, hey, man,
40:15like Detroit could be beat.
40:17Green Bay looked vulnerable.
40:18Sam obviously has had these moments where he goes on four or five week
40:22heaters.
40:23He did it at the end of 2018.
40:24He did it at the beginning of 2021, I believe.
40:28Jefferson got hurt.
40:29We'll see what happens there.
40:30Obviously had the bomb.
40:31Aaron Jones has looked quite good, I thought, generally speaking,
40:34through two weeks.
40:35But Darnold's 300 total yards, two touchdowns, 60 plus QBR.
40:38I think he's, like, fifth in the league in passing yards through two weeks.
40:41Completing 72% of his passes, which one of the biggest things with Sam was
40:45always, like, a lot of 18 for 34, 210, a touchdown, no picks,
40:49or a touchdown and a pick.
40:52Putting the ball in the end zone.
40:53I think the biggest thing for me was coming off this game was we know
40:55Minnesota's played San Francisco well.
40:58Flores ran one play, ran Tampa two.
41:01And he had eight guys in the box as the play was getting snapped.
41:04And Purdy had no idea what was going on.
41:06And I don't blame him.
41:07I don't think any quarterback would have had any idea what was going on.
41:10If they're going to get this well coached defensively, again,
41:12the talent is far better than it was a year ago.
41:14If they're going to get O'Connell to coach pretty similar to what he's been
41:18coaching offensively, putting Darnold in good situations, using his legs,
41:21using his arm, taking deep shots and different things like that.
41:25They host Houston, who I think is really good.
41:28They pressured Caleb on 37 or 38 dropbacks, which is absolutely insane.
41:32That says more to me about the Bears than the Texans.
41:34But they got a four-game stretch here, five games,
41:37where it's going to get really difficult.
41:39Houston, Green Bay, Jets, Lions, Rams.
41:43Can you split?
41:44Can you go two and three and start the season four and three and go,
41:47hey, man, then we go Jacksonville, Tennessee, Chicago.
41:51Can we go two and one there?
41:52All of a sudden you're six and four.
41:53My point being, like, just keep putting Sam in good situations
41:58and keep getting your defense to kind of be able to fly around.
42:02I don't know if they'll make the playoffs.
42:04I don't know if they'll win nine games, they'll win eight, they'll win six.
42:06Who knows?
42:07But I think I said very adamantly, like, I think they will be very competitive
42:11and there's a lot of talent on this roster.
42:13Do they get Jefferson and Addison back and Hawkinson in week six?
42:15And all of a sudden it's like, hey, man, can they win nine games
42:18and be that seven seed?
42:19Like, that's where you want to be because then next year
42:21you're getting JJ McCarthy or, I don't know,
42:23maybe Sam Donald has the Geno resurrection and he's there.
42:27Do you kind of go into next year going, we won eight games in a year
42:30where, like, everything bad seemed to happen to us.
42:33Now can we go win ten games and spend a little bit more money?
42:37Can we do all these different things?
42:38I think they should feel quite good, you know,
42:41if you're a Vikings fan right now.
42:42Yeah, I would agree completely.
42:45There's a bunch of other games we talked about maybe getting to,
42:48but I think we settled on the last one.
42:51We'll hit it quick is the Chiefs outlasting the Bengals 26-25,
42:54Harrison Butker, the buzzer beating kick.
42:57A lot of consternation about the late defensive pass interference.
43:01It was obviously called just for whatever reason.
43:03The flag came out a little bit late, which, of course,
43:05only feeds the thought that maybe the Chiefs, you know,
43:08a lot of people have panic about the Chiefs and the referees and the Chiefs
43:11and all those sorts of things.
43:12But I would say for me, they actually,
43:14I'm taking heart in what the Bengals did in this game,
43:17because that was more like the Bengals I expected coming into the year,
43:21a Bengals team that I said was going to make the playoffs.
43:24I thought Burrow looked a hell of a lot better.
43:26And this time, again, without Tee Higgins, second straight week,
43:29no Tee Higgins, but two touchdowns through for, what, 256,
43:33didn't throw an interception, wasn't afraid to push the ball,
43:36as he was last week.
43:38And again, I mentioned the Patriots were kind of complicit in that.
43:41They didn't really want him or try to allow him to do that.
43:44And they also just, it was the old school Louie Ann Arumo defense.
43:48They were in Pat Mahomes' kitchen.
43:51He threw for 151 yards.
43:52He turned the ball over twice, two interceptions.
43:55Trey Hendrickson is absolutely an awesome football player.
43:58I put him in my top 10 favorite players to watch in the league.
44:01I think he's one of the most underrated players in the league.
44:03And I don't know how you can be underrated when you're a double-digit sack guy
44:06every single year, but he is.
44:09He damn near won them the game on defense just the way that he played.
44:13So, if I'm Cincinnati, I'm disappointed to be 0-2 again,
44:18but as Jamar Chase said a little bit, as we know,
44:22he said they're the best team in the AFC.
44:25But he said, I think we'll see them again,
44:27and I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals saw the Chiefs again in January.
44:31Yeah, I mean, they've got Washington and Carolina coming up before a big matchup
44:34with the Ravens, and then you see the Giants.
44:36They're at where it's going to be 3-3.
44:38I think they probably feel like they're going to be 4-2,
44:40the way Baltimore is playing.
44:42I need Jamar Chase to – the press conference stuff and the pressers,
44:48I'm not asking for you to give detailed answers after a tough loss.
44:51I get it, man. It sucks.
44:53They're acting like a dick when, no offense, you had four catches.
44:57You held out the whole summer.
44:59You apparently turned down the richest receiver contract in NFL history.
45:04I really didn't appreciate the, like, I'm going to be a dick here.
45:07To me, it's like –
45:09Immaturity.
45:10You can't have both.
45:11There's immaturity here, and this is, to me,
45:13this is the lingering aftereffects of the no contract.
45:17Very young O'Dell-ish where you're so special early on
45:22and he kind of gets to you a little bit.
45:24Again, he's an awesome player. I'm not taking anything away from him.
45:26The biggest news of this game – I thought Mahomes was terrible, by the way,
45:29by his standards.
45:30I mean, I don't think he's been particularly insane through two –
45:3418 to 25, 150 yards and two picks, taking a couple sacks, 30 QBR.
45:38Like, that's not good.
45:39They just played – they sat in zone the whole game and said,
45:42the Chiefs ran the football really well.
45:45Isaiah Pacheco broke his leg, and it's a big deal.
45:49Yeah.
45:50Carson Steele's a fun, short-yardage guy, even with the fumble.
45:53But, like, I've said all year, I think the biggest thing to me
45:56with this Chiefs team is that their ability to run the football really well
46:01and play awesome defense in special teams is part of the reason why
46:04I think they're so hard to beat.
46:05It's not just that Mahomes is good.
46:07Look back at those Brady teams.
46:08Look back at the really good Rodgers teams, the really good Payton teams.
46:11It's because their defense was awesome.
46:12Their running backs were really good.
46:13They ran the football well.
46:14They were well coached.
46:15And then you have the special, you know, once every five to ten years quarterback,
46:19once every lifetime quarterback come in and kind of carry you to the top.
46:24Do I think the Chiefs get benefits of calls?
46:26Yeah.
46:27Of course it's hard not to think that.
46:28Do I think it's – I thought it was a flag, but, you know, Mahomes is scrambling
46:33to get over there, and Trey Hendrickson's getting clotheslined.
46:36So, it's like probably should have been offsetting penalties.
46:39It's frustrating, I guess, that the illegal hands to the face was ticky-tack
46:42depending on how you feel about it.
46:44I think if you're Cincinnati, you're heartbroken in the sense of, like,
46:47you would have had to head-to-head against them.
46:49That would have been borough four-to-one against Mahomes.
46:51And then you're probably like three-and-one going into that Baltimore game.
46:55Now it's like we have to win the next two to get back to even.
46:59Kansas City's the best team in the NFL, but I also think there is some kinks
47:02in their game.
47:03I just think that, look, they've beaten Baltimore and Cincinnati
47:07by the skin of their teeth.
47:08But back-to-back weeks, they're only going to get better as the year goes on.
47:11So, yeah, it was a wacky game.
47:15I don't think you'll see Mahomes play quite that badly the rest of the year.
47:18I guess the biggest positive, as I mentioned, you mentioned it at the top,
47:22Borough looked like Joe Borough.
47:23And they needed that because I don't think he was – he looked pretty brutal
47:27against the Wingers.
47:28So, big game.
47:30Obviously, Kansas City takes care of it again.
47:33They're inevitable.
47:34And if you're Cincinnati, you're kicking yourself.
47:37Yeah, no question.
47:39I want to quickly talk about, as we love going to watch football games live.
47:43In fact, I believe someone will be in the stands on Thursday night
47:46at MetLife, that guy over there.
47:50And so, you try to get tickets, and it's always like you've got to go
47:53through these clunky apps.

48:56It's Game Time.
48:58That is going to put a wrap on the All 32 pod.
49:01We're going to come back to you, I believe, prior to Patriots and Jets.
49:05We're still working out some of the details on that
49:07because this is a condensed week for all of us.
49:09There's a lot of things going on.
49:11In fact, I'm running out the door now
49:13because the Patriots have an open locker room on Monday.
49:15Earlier, because as they were telling us last night,
49:18by the time the game is over, it's already Wednesday on their calendar.
49:21Today is Thursday.
49:22They've got to get ready.
49:23Both teams do.
49:24So, we'll get an update from Patriots,
49:26as you can read on Boston Sports Journal.
49:27A reminder, Will will have you covered on the Jets side
49:30with all his different – shout out a couple of your pods, Will.
49:33Yeah, TOJ pod and Badlands.
49:35I have an episode out today, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
49:40It's fantastic.
49:41Yeah, this week really stresses the communication,
49:45stresses everything, quite frankly.
49:47Reminder to subscribe, like, leave reviews, tell your friends.
49:50We appreciate you getting involved.
49:52Again, we'll see you later in the week.
49:53This is the All-32 Pod.
49:55It is caught. Touchdown.
49:59The New England Patriots select Drake May.
50:03He's got the ball. And that's the ballgame.
