00:00All right, guys, week one is behind us.
00:02What is your biggest overreaction to week one?
00:05You know, it's funny because my overreaction and I realized I got to tap the brakes was
00:09oh my God, Minnesota might actually not suck, but they did play the Giants.
00:14So I guess my overreaction is that the Giants will go 0-17 this year.
00:17They look dreadful and lost to the team that I picked to have the first overall pick in
00:21the draft, which speaks more about, I think, Minnesota than it does, or more about the
00:26Giants than it does Minnesota.
00:28So overreaction, the G-Men go 0-17 this year.
00:32I like it, Doug.
00:34My overreaction is that San Francisco is even better than they were last year.
00:38No Christian McCaffrey.
00:39Hey, man, no problem.
00:40It's all right.
00:41We got Jordan Mason.
00:42He ran for 147 yards and a touchdown.
00:47Brock Purdy did his job like he always does.
00:50That defense shut down Aaron Rodgers and I mean, come on, who wouldn't think that?
00:55Yeah, I don't know if they're better, but it's an overreaction.
00:58Nah, not as good as Doug's.
01:00Oh, here's mine, guys.
01:02Aaron Rodgers quits midway through the season.
01:05That's it.
01:06I mean, he's done at some point.
01:07He says, F this.
01:08I'm walking off the field in my old orthopedic shoes.
01:10I can't take this anymore.
01:12My receivers suck.
01:13The defense isn't as good as what it used to be.
01:15I'm out of here.
01:16I got retreats to get to.
01:17Yes, exactly.
01:18I got a trip to Egypt.
01:19I'm out.
01:20All right.
01:21I like it.
01:22All right.
01:23All right.
01:24The Steelers are sticking with Justin Fields to start for week two against the Broncos.
01:26We won't get that matchup of the revenge game for Wilson, unfortunately.
01:31But barring injury, do you think Wilson will ever get a starting job back in Pittsburgh?
01:34No, I don't.
01:36I think Justin Fields is I've always liked Justin Fields.
01:39I think he's good and he's got a ton of talent and now he's in an environment with a coach
01:44and a culture that can help get the most out of him while he's in Pittsburgh instead of
01:49in Chicago.
01:50So I think that he's poised to do kind of like Baker Mayfield, resurrect his career.
01:55I like Justin Fields.
01:56Dude, eyes on your own paper.
01:57I said almost the exact same thing.
01:58I will add this.
01:59But I said it better.
02:00You did.
02:01Because you got to say it.
02:03Justin Fields is a very, very talented player that I would love to see him be wasted.
02:09That Chicago wasted him and completely blew it and made the wrong call.
02:13And as far as Russell Wilson, I believe a big time in quarterback personalities being
02:17a big part of their leadership, which is if you watch, it started to get weird in Seattle.
02:21It was really weird in Denver.
02:23And then last week, Wilson was scratched, but in full uniform.
02:28Like what was that?
02:29That was odd.
02:30I don't know.
02:31Players that are inactive in full uniform.
02:34It's just there's always something weird with him.
02:36Yeah, I think like I always wonder about Wilson, like how could he have gotten this bad so
02:39fast?
02:40What happened?
02:41But maybe it's just his personality has gotten weirder and it's affected his football play.
02:45I agree.
02:46Make it three for three, guys.
02:47I hope Wilson gets his job back.
02:48The edge he would have had would have been throwing the ball, but I'm not so sure that's
02:51an edge anymore.
02:53And Justin Fields definitely has the edge in running the ball.
02:55And I think the fact that they like the fact that he can make plays out of nothing if they
02:58need it.
02:59And they didn't score a touchdown last week, but he kept a lot of drives alive to get him
03:02in the field goal range.
03:03And Wilson wasn't bad last year.
03:05No, he wasn't.
03:06But it was actually pretty good.
03:08Something there's a disconnect between the coaches and the players in a locker room,
03:11which that doesn't bode well if you're the quarterback.
03:14All right, the NFL and Bengals fans have become very concerned with Joe Burrow's surgically
03:19repaired wrist.
03:20They're actually even breaking down the way he was picking up a Gatorade bottle this past
03:23Sunday.
03:24He was seen flexing it multiple times during the game.
03:27He says it's fine.
03:28He's just doing that to keep it loose.
03:29Do you believe him?
03:30Is his wrist fine?
03:31So, yeah, I think too much is being made of the Gatorade bottle because, you know, they
03:35have Gatorade zero, which is like the light.
03:37There's also Gatorade heavy as hell, which is really hard to lift up.
03:41And that's what it was.
03:42It was just a very heavy bottle of Gatorade.
03:45It was Gatorade heavy as hell.
03:47Yeah, I'd be really concerned if I was a Cincinnati fan and I wouldn't be surprised if this ends
03:52his season back to back years.
03:54Wow.
03:55Wow.
03:56The question was, do I believe him?
03:57The answer is nope.
03:59I think he's hurting, man.
04:00And I think there's part of it's commendable that a guy who's making a ton of money wants
04:06to play for his team and wants to earn that money.
04:08You don't want to sit in the sidelines and everybody question your toughness and all
04:12that.
04:13He's tough, buddy.
04:14He's probably coming back too soon.
04:15But, you know, doctors tell him, no, you can go out there and play.
04:18You're not going to hurt it any worse.
04:19I mean, it's just it is what it is.
04:21Then I guess you go ahead and do that.
04:23But I don't think this bodes well for Cincinnati at all.
04:25Guys make it three for three again.
04:27I don't believe him either.
04:28I know they had no T Higgins and Jamar Chase didn't have a preseason.
04:31So maybe that's a reason why the passing game wasn't that good.
04:34But in the deep ball.
04:36But I think this might be a lingering issue all year long.
04:39That's not I understand.
04:40Keep it loose and things like that.
04:42That's not a good sign.
04:43Right.
04:44Surgery can repair it.
04:45And he hasn't really been that good the last couple of years because injury.
04:47He may need to take some real time off.
04:48You know what I say?
04:49He's not going to win a Super Bowl.
04:53All right.
04:55What Owen one team will be just fine and what Owen one team is in big trouble.
05:00I think Baltimore is fine.
05:01OK, starting off the season against Kansas City and you lose on the road, there's there's
05:04no shame in that.
05:05I think once they get that thing humming along with Derek Henry in the backfield, Lamar Jackson
05:12running a quarterback and Lamar Jackson was dynamic again.
05:15I just I just think that Baltimore is going to be fine.
05:18I think the team that is in trouble.
05:21It's the Rams.
05:22OK, losing on the road to the Lions.
05:24There's no shame in that.
05:25The problem is so that they lost two more offensive linemen and Puka Nakula to IR.
05:30So those guys are out for at least four weeks.
05:33And did you see Stafford in that game?
05:35How he was gimping around and how he was just banged up.
05:39This isn't going to get any easier for him.
05:40The next four weeks are going to be brutal for him.
05:43He's going to get banged up more and not going to be surprised at all if he's going to have
05:46to miss some time to.
05:48He's young.
05:49Oh, my.
05:50I agree with you.
05:51I'm Baltimore.
05:52Oh, one team.
05:53They still got Baltimore.
05:54Come out of the FC team.
05:55I think it's Owen.
05:56One is in trouble.
05:57I tried to find a team where it had expectations, not like St. Carolina, but a team that has
06:00expectations that I think is going to you don't want to be oh and three and Atlanta
06:07is going to be oh and three.
06:09They lose at home to Pittsburgh with their prize veteran quarterback throwing for one
06:13hundred fifty five yards and two picks.
06:15Their next two games are at Philly and then they host the Chiefs.
06:19Atlanta is going to be oh and three.
06:20They are in real trouble.
06:21Yeah, the Ravens would be the easy answer.
06:23So I try to go somewhere different.
06:25And you know where I'm going with this, guys.
06:26It's the Colts.
06:27I know they're oh and one and they lost to the Texans.
06:29But Anthony Richardson before that game, he's only had 17 starts since high school.
06:33That's an incredibly low amount of starts for a guy who's supposed to be a franchise
06:37quarterback.
06:38The point is, he showed definitely some flashes of the reason why they took him so high, because
06:41he can make so many plays out of nothing.
06:44And they barely lost that game.
06:46He has something coaches, you know, you can't really teach that that sixty eight yard throw
06:49that he had.
06:50I think he's going to have a hundred yard Hail Mary throw this year at some point.
06:53That's right.
06:54Bold prediction.
06:55But on the other side, the oh and one team that's in big trouble, it's the Bengals, guys.
06:58I believe Joe Burrow's wrist.
06:59It really is hurt.
07:00They lost Joe Mixon in the offseason, lost Jesse Bates on the defensive side.
07:05Pro Bowl safety.
07:06No Tee Higgins so far.
07:07I don't know how long the hamstring injury is going to linger.
07:09And Jamar Chase is not happy.
07:11Bengals might not make the playoffs this year.
07:17All right, who's Achilles injury should be most concerning for the player itself, not
07:21necessarily the team, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins or Christian McCaffrey?
07:24Again, I go back to teams with expectations, and I think it's Christian McCaffrey.
07:28That's a team that has Super Bowl aspirations.
07:31And so that I don't think the Jets, I know a lot of people had high expectations for
07:35the Jets.
07:36And I've seen nothing that led me to believe otherwise.
07:39Kirk Cousins, again, you know, that team, I don't they don't have nearly the high expectation.
07:44So who I mean, what should be most concerning?
07:47It would be Christian McCaffrey's Achilles injury with the 49ers, given what he meant
07:53to that offense and what that team is hoping to accomplish this year.
07:57Well, it's it's not CMC because look what they did without him.
08:02But when you look at the other quarterbacks, it's Aaron Rodgers.
08:06His mobility is a big reason for a success throughout his career.
08:09And you heard that Achilles.
08:10And it's not that he was fast.
08:11It was that he was able to use the mobility to maneuver through the pocket by himself
08:15more time and then throw it downfield.
08:18It's just not there.
08:20And the situation with that team, when you're when you had a great defense like they did
08:24last year and you know, that team was that close to being a playoff team with Zach Wilson
08:29the quarterback, a team that only threw 11 touchdown passes a year ago.
08:33And now you bring back the same defense and you're going to add this guy to it.
08:37It should be there.
08:38And it's not because his Achilles is going to prevent him from being any good whatsoever.
08:44You can make a compelling case for each of these guys.
08:45And that's why I put their names up there.
08:47And I'm going to make a case for the third guy.
08:49I'm going to make a case for the third guy, Kirk Cousins.
08:52I think the reason why is that division is weak.
08:54They should really have a chance to win the division.
08:56Unfortunately, I think Cousins is fully healthy.
08:58He's obviously older.
08:59Did you know that he didn't take a snap under center this past week?
09:03He's a quarterback who loves taking snaps under center.
09:05Did you know they didn't run one play action pass with Bijan Robinson?
09:09They're lining him up in the pistol and shotgun for a reason.
09:12They want this guy to get some extra time because he can't move.
09:14I think that's a big issue.
09:15We might see Michael Pennix at some point because Chris Kirk Cousins is not healthy.
09:19That was the other thing I wanted to say, but why I don't think it's Kirk Cousins because
09:22Atlanta Falcon fans, they're probably dying to see Michael Pennix anyway, but in the end,
09:27he's still a rookie.
09:28He's a 38-year-old rookie, but still, he's coming off injuries as well.
09:32All right, guys, final one.
09:37You know I like to have a little fun with the last one.
09:40You have to go on a four-hour double date with either Brittany and Patrick Mahomes or
09:45Matthew and Kelly Stafford.
09:47Who are you choosing?
09:48All right.
09:49I'm going to choose the Staffords.
09:53I am dying to see.
09:56There it is.
09:57I'm dying to see in person what his reaction is, the eye rolls and all that, when Kelly
10:02decides to become all Kelly during the four-hour meal and the conversations, right?
10:07When she starts to do the stuff that you know is going to be annoying as hell, I want to
10:11stare right at Matt and see what he does because I think it'd be fascinating and wildly entertaining.
10:17Plus, I don't find him anywhere near as annoying or as cocky as Patrick Mahomes.
10:23I'm not a big Patrick Mahomes guy.
10:24I actually like Matthew Stafford and I think he'd be kind of fun to hang out with and talk
10:28about other stuff with while, you know, she's off doing her thing.
10:32Yeah, I would also choose the Staffords because we got Detroit in common and I'm sure he probably,
10:38he seems pretty salty talking about the Lions, but we could talk about the community.
10:43We could talk about Hank Winchester.
10:44I mean, we could talk about stuff that we know about.
10:46I don't know.
10:47Hank for four hours.
10:48I got nothing with the Mahomes family.
10:50Hank is probably going to be there anyway.
10:52Yeah.
10:53I don't know.
10:56That's true.
10:59Listen here.
11:00I actually used to be a big fan of Mahomes, but I'm getting maybe Mahomes fatigue.
11:04And the voice, I don't know if I get four hours of the voice.
11:08The wife, I'm not a big fan of her.
11:11The Staffords, I'm not the biggest fan of Kelly.
11:13Matthew, I think he's actually, I've soured on him since he left.
11:16I feel like, you know, he's kind of, I've changed my view on him.
11:18I used to really like Stafford, but the way he's talked about the city and the fans since
11:22he left, as in like, you know, I get it.
11:24He's salty.
11:25You know, we had a new quarterback.
11:26We loving that guy.
11:27In the end, I chose to go with the Staffords as well, guys, three for three again.
11:32I think to me, I think Brittany Mahomes might be the most annoying out of the all four.
11:36So I'm going to just stay away from her because I saw this great tweet about a week ago.
11:40It's fantastic.
11:41Someone tweeted, I know Patrick Mahomes sits in his driveway before he goes into the house.
11:48And you know what?
11:49I'm going with the Staffords because of that.
11:51I agree.
11:52I think Stafford would, you can say to Matt, Hey, you want to go get a couple of shots
11:55of tequila at the bar?
11:56And he's like, yep, there we go.
11:59Hank's coming with us.
12:00Right?
12:01No.
12:02Hang on.
12:03Stay with us.
12:04And that concludes the wide nine Omaha four down around the league blitz thingy.
