00:00It proves that we need help on the defensive side, but it also proves that, you know, the
00:06loss to Washington, you know, they're still a good team.
00:09Yeah, I mean, look, the thing is, you just have to play your best in these biggest games.
00:16What happened yesterday was a product of Philly playing their best and Kansas City playing
00:22one of their worst games they played in a while.
00:24It's not only Philadelphia playing their best, it's Philadelphia at their best.
00:28They're healthy.
00:29You know how many defensive linemen they have on the injured reserve one and he's never
00:35played a snap for them.
00:36Wow.
00:37I mean, the Lions had three starters and two on the two more off the two deep on the injured
00:43reserve.
00:44Like, I can appreciate that.
00:47They did look great, but they have one D lineman on injured reserve.
00:51Look, let me get this straight, too.
00:52I think that a healthy Lions team beats the Kansas City team.
00:56I don't know if the healthy Lions team beats the healthy Philadelphia team, but that's
01:00a battle I'd love to see.
01:03And they more than have a shot, of course, and if had, you know, the Lions beat the Commanders,
01:06they would have had to host that game.
01:08Obviously, they wouldn't have been, you know, injury free like we wanted them to be.
01:10But let's not forget, as great as the Eagles looked last night and they were dominant from
01:14start to finish, they almost lost to the Rams a couple of weeks ago.
01:18They're right.
01:19The Rams were about to go in for a game leading touchdown and Stafford threw a bad pass.
01:26And I know weather played a role in that as well, but they're not unbeatable.
01:29The Eagles just looked unbeatable last night.
01:31They put it all together.
01:32Yes, exactly.
01:33It was a it was an ass kicking and keep this in mind, too.
01:36Last year, the Eagles lost in the first round of the playoffs, but then they made a monster.
01:40They made some monster moves in the offseason.
01:42They went out there.
01:43They got Saquon Barkley in his 2000 yards rushing his MVP type of season, and they hit
01:50in the draft again.
01:53They went to the draft, spent the first two picks on defensive backs, and those two picks
01:58were studs.
02:00It worked out for them.
02:01And that's what an offseason can do.
02:04I'm hoping the same thing can happen for the Lions in an offseason.
02:07But for the Lions, it's getting healthy and then finding that extra piece on defense.
02:13Paul's in Clinton Township at NACS.
02:15Hello, Paul.
02:16Hey, guys.
02:17Thanks for taking the call.
02:18Sure.
02:20The thing I took out of it was, you know, obviously Philly went to the Super Bowl two
02:25years ago, and then last year they imploded, lost in the first round of the playoffs, and
02:29people were talking about firing their coach and talking about the proverbial they missed
02:34their window.
02:35Right.
02:36Remember all that chatter?
02:38And they had the 30th ranked defense last year in the league, and they were able to
02:45turn it around, like Gator said, with some moves that they made.
02:48But like anything, it does take being healthy.
02:52I would love to take seven guys off of that defense I watched last night and then see
02:58how good that defense would be if I was able to do that.
03:03And obviously, that's not what happened.
03:05They were healthy and props to them.
03:07They were legitimately an incredible performance last night.
03:12But like I said, that defense and everything they did was predicated on the fact that they
03:15had all their players.
03:18The other thing it did...
03:19Knocked seven off that team on defense, and I don't think they'd be as dominant last year
03:24as they were.
03:25Of course they wouldn't be.
03:26You're 100% right on that.
03:27But the other thing that Philadelphia's defense did and why they were able to be so good is
03:32they didn't have to blitz.
03:33They got everything they needed to from the front four.
03:36And it wasn't like they had this constant pressure coming from the outside.
03:39It starts in the middle with those guys.
03:41But it's a different kind of pass rush that got there.
03:44Their defensive tackles are spectacular.
03:47And when you're under duress like Mahomes was, he doesn't have time to throw and set
03:51up and throw those deep passes.
03:54He was in a lot of trouble.
03:56And they've got young defensive backs who are able to stay step for step with the receivers
03:59for the most part.
04:01And they got the job done.
04:02But that defensive line did such an amazing job against the Chiefs.
04:08And that's why we get excited.
04:10The Lions have pieces of that, but it's not a complete job yet.
