00:21playing the blame game and all that stuff so as we go into our second
00:26straight weekend without Lion football granted there wasn't gonna be a Lions
00:29game this week anyway win or lose I just wanted to know where people are have
00:33you gotten over it yet and if not what irks you the most and what's the sign
00:39for me you know being also an Eagle fan although the Lions are my new first love
00:45I'm cheating my friends and family say you're cheating on the Eagles whatever
00:50I've been here a little longer too but watching the Eagles game even the Rams
00:55game two weeks ago and the NFC Championship game I sat there I was I
01:02was hoping that they would win but I was like you know I was I was just like
01:09emotionless you know Barkley had the you know the big run earlier yeah and
01:13then it's like anything else is like whatever I was just like sitting there
01:17cuz I was still sad and upset that the Lions were not in that game now I want
01:23to be honest about it if the Lions did get past Washington and still suffered
01:29the Amik Robertson injury I still think Philly Philly would have won the game
01:34and it would have been here at Ford Field people might have felt worse
01:36losing the NFC Championship game at home but we missed the build-up to the game
01:41which would have been that week would have been unbelievable so and and I come
01:48to grips with it myself it's like after they advance in the Super Bowl the Eagles
01:51it's like my sister like I finally called her or whatever she goes what
01:56happened yeah I haven't heard from you all day I said well you know it's just
02:00whatever it's I was watching I was glad they won but that was about it and then
02:04I watched the Buffalo Kansas City game obviously yeah so I'm it I'm you know
02:10obviously gonna root for the Eagles but I go back to that game and back in 20
02:17years ago when Robert Ori hit the shot game five where she double teamed and
02:22left them open that gave that place still bothers me I've talked about on
02:27the air like even years decades later you know I'm in the shower and I think
02:32about that play the third and one empty backfield yeah I still think about that
02:39play because it violates even though the Lions have been successful with it one
02:43of my tenets of football is when you do not have a mobile quarterback it's not
02:47the knock Jared Goff you never go empty on short yardage you should I know the
02:53lines have been successful because it tells the defense they're going to pass
02:56the ball tips and okay so I don't like that and look I gotta admit last year
03:02there was I went through a stretch of months almost a year maybe where I would
03:06see Josh Reynolds just drop a ball because I'm convinced that's what cost
03:11him the Super Bowl not to mention that Gibbs fumble and the Vildor play and all
03:15that but so and I just wonder where you guys are at do you are you looking
03:20forward to the Super Bowl are you even gonna watch cuz I can't imagine people

03:57okay it's kind of how I feel about a lot of Lions fans I'm not saying you're
03:59gonna watch the Super Bowl feeling okay like Stoney I still feel empty yes and
04:07and numb in some ways when I left Ford Field that Saturday night it was a hush
04:14everybody's in the streets walking back to their garage or the lot wherever they
04:18parked and I wanted to say anything everybody's just kind of shell-shocked
04:23empty this empty feeling these weekends because the Lions would fill our cup up
04:27yeah right I mean they won 15 to 17 games in regular season we were so used
04:30to they'll find a way they'll get it done even with the injuries on defense
04:33thought they'd find a way they'd get it done and they should have now maybe to
04:37your point and more likely than not they lose to Philly my point is play the game
04:41because Washington shouldn't have won maybe you're there and you get a bounce
04:44or two and you kind of steal a spot in the Super Bowl with a battered defense
04:48the way they had stolen so many games along the way no I feel empty I feel
04:54numb would be how I would describe right too are you looking forward to next
04:59Sunday no I'm not looking forward to it okay I'm gonna watch it I'm not gonna
05:03play pretend right I won't watch the Super Bowl so with this will be the is
05:08this Super Bowl the least excited or whatever lack of a better word so here's
05:13anticipation you have for a Super Bowl it's actually a good game these two
05:16teams played two years ago it was a great game I know people are mad at
05:20Bradbury in the call but it was legitimately a penalty and it came down
05:23to the final possession these are two of the best teams in the sport mm-hmm with
05:28two really good quarterbacks and really good defensive coordinators and good
05:31defenses it should be a good football game yeah I just if you don't watch you
05:36would have missed last year in overtime you would have missed the AFC
05:39championship this year which came down to Josh Allen with the ball in three
05:42minutes to go I'm not gonna I'm not gonna let the commanders win twice right
05:47I'm not gonna let them steal football for me I'm not gonna let the Lions
05:50losing steal football for me this is the last game we get until August so I think
05:56it's a good time to do a wellness check with people with you in because you
05:58heard the rawest emotions on that Saturday night I mean what people were
06:02almost to the point of crap people were crying yeah I mean I welled up a little
06:08bit it's just sad because the anticipation this town was at a fever
06:13that they hadn't been before in professional football and maybe we were
06:18being unrealistic and say well we could you know the even with the defense we
06:22can you know rebound and rebound and rebound finally they couldn't and the
06:27quarterback and golf had a bad day that's simple yeah I think John always
06:31says bad day to have a bad day yeah and he's not the only one that's ever said
06:35no but I he's right golf had a great season golf orchestrated the number one
06:39offense Jerry golf should be the quarterback next season not that they
06:42have a choice anyway right but he played terrible and I've seen people say it was
06:45the defense like they'll still point to that Saturday night was on the defense I
06:49think the defense would have doomed them maybe against Philly but against
06:52the commanders the formula was there I go back to your play the first of the
06:57cascading plays in that football game the third and one from empty if you feed
07:02Gibbs I feel like they're scoring on that drive they're going up 14 to 3 just
07:06like Philly did against the commanders even if okay even if they don't they go
07:10up 10 to 3 right or even if Gus Montgomery was split whatever yeah even
07:15if you give the ball to him he gets at least a yard and to your point not
07:19having the threat of a run really does put you in again if St. Brown doesn't
07:22slip a lot of things on that play had to go wrong right but it set off a chain
07:26reaction that's the first turnover wouldn't be the last
07:30no golf's pick six the next catastrophic play in the game right his pick before
07:35the half where they take three points off the board could have been seven if
07:38he leads him a little more right you're leaving points on the table and even
07:42with this defense they could have and should have won that game well they
07:45don't commit that level of turn and we all said the formula and Dan Campbell
07:49even said the formula basically was you know we're gonna have to win shootouts
07:55yep so they got into a shootout lost it because some of their bullets came up
08:00blank meaning golf and I think people have deflected to blaming the defense
08:05not that the defense was good or healthy but I think it's a deflection not to
08:10really let golf shoulder it right cuz golf deserved the biggest amount of
08:15blame to me right for that game you want to blame the coaches people are upset
08:18about Ben Johnson I'm mad that Dan Campbell didn't call the timeout on
08:21fourth down with 12 guys on the field I guess I mean there's plenty to go around
08:24but I think golf's the guy who no sugarcoating it no kid gloves I know we
08:28chant his name I know he's beloved no one's throwing him out of the city yet
08:31but or at all but he screwed up and we can blame the defense if you'd like but
08:35if he plays the way he had played all year if he played the way that he did to
08:39earn those chance a problem they probably would have won they win the
08:42game and then they move on yeah and instead we're left wondering what if and
08:46that that is maybe the lasting legacy out of a 15 win season it's what if what
08:51if they got to the Eagles game yeah they might lose but what if right
