00:00Hey friends, I'm Stacey and this is Gorgeously Aging.
00:07Today I wanted to do a quick video about what to expect after under eye filler.
00:12The number one tip that I have for you and something so important is don't freak out.
00:17So let me just explain what I mean.
00:19It's very common for people, whether they have under eye filler done in a med spa or
00:24they've done it themselves after much, much research, to freak out.
00:29The under eyes can swell, mine are a little swollen from doing under eye filler a few
00:33days ago.
00:34You may not be able to see it because I do have a little concealer and makeup on, but
00:37they get puffy.
00:39And this can sometimes give the appearance of being overfilled.
00:44Most of the time, if you wait a week, it will be just fine.
00:48Now I've even freaked myself out back in the early days when I would do this, I've done
00:51it many times now, where I thought, oh no, it's overfilled, it's puffy, I don't like
00:56the way this looks, but after a week it was perfect.
00:59So my number one tip is don't freak out.
01:03Swelling is to be expected and it can be treated with cool compresses every 15 to 30 minutes
01:09the first couple of days if you have time for it.
01:12You don't need to ice it to discomfort or be aggressive, just give a little cool compress
01:17when you have time.
01:18My number two tip is that bruising is not an indication of vascular occlusion.
01:23Bruising under the eyes is very common.
01:25A bruise does not signify that there is filler in a vein or artery.
01:29The only thing a bruise signifies is that the tip of the needle or even the cannula
01:33has poked a vein or artery and that bleeding under the skin or trauma has caused a bruise.
01:39Likewise, pain or tenderness under the eyes is not a sign of a vascular occlusion.
01:44So vascular occlusions will block blood flow to a vein or artery.
01:49And typically the number one sign for that is blanching or whiteness.
01:53If you have capillary refill, so I'm going to press really hard on my cheek here.
01:57And when I take my finger away you may see some whiteness but it'll refill or the capillaries
02:02or blood vessels will refill with blood and it will become pink.
02:06So just take a look here.
02:08See how it's white?
02:09And quickly it goes back to pink or to normal color.
02:12If you were to press and take your finger off after pressing for about five seconds
02:16and it stayed white and the tissue did not refill with blood, that would maybe be something
02:24to be concerned with.
02:26Also the vascular occlusion will create a pain that is more intense than just your regular
02:31tenderness.
02:33You're going to have some tenderness from tissue trauma even when using a cannula.
02:38Another tip is don't assume that you have the Tyndall effect if you see some light bluish
02:43tint underneath the skin.
02:46This could be a subtle bruise and so don't rush to assumptions or don't rush to the conclusion
02:52that it's the Tyndall effect until you've given it about a week to 10 days to heal.
02:57The Tyndall effect is when the filler is placed too superficially or too close to the surface
03:02of the skin and the light reflecting on the hyaluronic acid filler presents like a blue
03:07cast.
03:08This does not happen very often, especially when done properly.
03:12It's not a common occurrence.
03:14One of the biggest mistakes that can be made is using hyaluronidase, in my case I used
03:19liporase, to dissolve what I think might be the Tyndall effect or in the case of freaking
03:25out I might dissolve something that I think is overfilled that's actually just inflammation
03:30and create a big hollow under the eyes.
03:34Hyaluronidase not only dissolves hyaluronic acid that you've put in the form of filler,
03:40it also can dissolve your natural hyaluronic acid making your eyes look much much worse.
03:46Hyaluronidase should only be used after you've given the tissue plenty of time to heal.
03:51I can't tell you how many people I know even in the DIY community that have done filler
03:57or have had filler done and immediately want to dissolve it.
04:00You can't tell until at least a week later what the actual results are because of tissue
04:06inflammation.
04:07So it goes back to tip number one, don't freak out.
04:11Dissolving filler can absolutely make things worse.
04:14Unless it's a medical emergency, filler should not be dissolved until everything is healed.
04:20Speaking of dissolver, always have hyaluronidase on hand.
04:24I used liporase, it is something I always always have on hand in cases of emergency.
04:31Fortunately I've never had a vascular occlusion and I've never had to use it for an emergency
04:35type situation.
04:36Migration.
04:37I get a lot of questions about filler migration and although this can happen, it's not something
04:42to be super concerned about especially if you're using the right filler for the right
04:47area.
04:48Unfortunately I've seen a lot of advice about using skin boosters as fillers and this is
04:53where migration comes into play.
04:55These skin boosters are not meant to be fillers but people are using them because they feel
05:00like maybe there's less risk of a vascular occlusion.
05:04The problem with that is that skin boosters that are maybe tiny bit cross-linked don't
05:09have the gel consistency or viscosity to stay in the place that you put them.
05:13For under eyes, I use Tesoro Deep with lidocaine which has enough viscosity or staying power
05:20to stay where you put it.
05:22Migration can happen but it isn't the end of the world if it happens and can be dissolved
05:27easily with liporase.
05:29The key to dissolving a migration, which I actually haven't, I do feel like I might
05:34have a little tiny migration around my lips, but sometimes dissolving it makes it worse
05:39than just leaving it alone.
05:42Unless I had a real obvious migration that really bothered me, I probably wouldn't treat
05:48it.
05:49When you do treat a migration, a filler, it's always best to use just a little bit of liporase,
05:54not a lot, so that you aren't destroying any of your natural underlying hyaluronic
05:58acid.
05:59Also, be very careful not to jump into a trend that's created to make you feel a false sense
06:08of security with a booster product that isn't meant to give you filler-like results.
06:14Always remember that skin boosters are not fillers and they don't have the thickness,
06:20body, viscosity, or g-prime to stay where you put them.
06:25My focus in my videos to you will always be safety over sales.
06:30I appreciate tremendously those of you who use my discount code, it's what allows me
06:34to keep making content.
06:36But always understand or watch videos with the knowledge that not everybody is going
