00:00I think we're gonna need a bigger Batpole. Here's a look at McFarland Toys
00:03DC Multiverse the Batman classic TV series Batman
00:09Capow the debonair millionaire Bruce Wayne may seem like your average cool
00:32cat but you would be wrong with the flip of a Shakespeare head bust into the Bat
00:36Cave Gotham City is filled with a rogues gallery of criminal eager to
00:39unmask the Batman but they are thwarted by the Caped Crusaders own clever ways
00:43holy above-average sized Adam West Batman just before we get a closer look
00:47though at the brand-new McFarland Toys DC Multiverse Batman classic TV series
00:51Adam West Batman let's take the old tape measure and let's measure off just how
00:56tall the figure stands right away you may recognize not only does this figure
00:59have a lot more posability but he's a whole lot taller than the original
01:02classic Batman series we've been collecting this whole time in fact
01:05Batman is gonna stand at six and three quarters of an inch in height or the
01:08brand-new Caped Crusader is 17 centimeters tall so I feel this
01:12introduction of Batman does open perhaps the floodgates of questions from
01:15collectors all probably asking the same question could we not have gotten the
01:19Batman classic series in the scale of DC Multiverse right from the very beginning
01:23because those that have been collecting the Batman classic series will already
01:27know the scale and size those figures are a whole lot smaller and they have a
01:29whole lot less posability in their parts the positive of this figure line at
01:34least was that they were better in scale with vehicles I can't imagine that
01:37McFarland would ever produce larger scale vehicles to accommodate a figure
01:40of this size but certainly though dioramas and playsets like the Batcave
01:44like the Villains Lair were ideally suited for this scale of figure line
01:49bringing in again the Robin and another example from season 3 Batgirl it does
01:54though ask one question where do we go with this line now once of course the
01:58ball is going down the hill you're gaining momentum obviously collectors
02:02probably are gonna be expecting that they're gonna be doing more with this
02:04line than just releasing Batman alone the safe assumption would be that
02:08eventually we're gonna be getting ourselves an upper Ward Robin do we just
02:11stop the line with the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder or do we want to
02:15continue the line from there here's where the tricky part comes if they do
02:18continue the line from this scale size releasing a Joker releasing a penguin
02:23all the various villains that made up the Batman classic series it does then
02:27ask the question why would they have released the figure line in this scale
02:31in the beginning if the plan that down the road they were gonna release
02:34eventually in this larger scale I don't want to say necessarily the collectors
02:37are soured because ideally you could have a figure line that branches off one
02:43that's for a smaller kind of retro scale size of figures that could again go with
02:46the vehicles could go again with the playsets and then you can have a larger
02:49scale figure line but I don't know though if collectors only thought from
02:53right from the beginning that this was the only scale that we were ever gonna
02:56get for the Batman classic series and now you're introducing this guy and then
03:00I'm supposing they're probably gonna be releasing more additional characters
03:03from the classic series it does though kind of ask the question again the same
03:07question I was probably asking the moment I got this guy will we be getting
03:11any more of these figures do we want to see this line branch off and get
03:15articulated versions of all the villains or do we only want to just get Batman
03:18and Robin while I leave that with you guys to think about let's look at the
03:22following accessories first the Caped Crusader comes in clue with a training
03:25card that for the most part looks good although it looks almost like it's a set
03:30photo rather than something taken from the actual series why I say that though
03:34is this section right here almost looks like somebody took a photo flash of
03:37Batman maybe Alfred got really close to Batman's grill when he took a photo I've
03:41had Batman similar photos like this if you were to flip through flip through my
03:45photo albums of many birthday parties when I was young relatives and neighbors
03:48get super super close with those large bulb flashes I couldn't see what was
03:52going on but it's a strange looking photo because of this section right here
03:56I feel like they probably could have corrected this just a little bit the
03:59back of the card though does have real name Bruce Wayne and a very small and
04:03easy to digest paragraph and so easy in fact that I've already taken the liberty
04:06of reading it I already beat you to it don't even bother I mean you could if
04:09you really want to got it okay I did already beat you to it though so no no
04:14no we're gonna move that card though out of the way the figure also comes include
04:17the same style of displaced and as all the other DC multiverse figures I will
04:21say though to make the exception being that this is from the classic series
04:25wouldn't it have been nice if they could have included a little Batman logo with
04:27a bat head on the top from one wing to the other nice little symbol down below
04:32but what we get though is just a standard variety DC multiverse
04:35displaced and not necessarily a bad thing at all there's a peg there are two
04:39feet and of course you can decide which one of those feet plug on to the peg
04:42provided let's move out to the side figure also comes in clues and bad
04:46gadgets now I would have been really miffed the figure didn't come in clue
04:49with anything he does come with first of all the Batman two-way radio little
04:53walkie-talkie the radio I was thought looked like a big mouth is actually is
04:57sculpted so it isn't just the case that they printed in place it looks okay it
05:00does fit in his hand all right on the back of it does have a little bit of a
05:04grain finish there to it as well it almost looks like it's been 3d printed
05:07but it does though fit into Batman's hands actually the way that he has his
05:11hands right now these two gripping hands are already suitable for holding you
05:14except his accessories accessories and a hard time getting that all out the
05:19figure also does come in clues battering like though the attention to detail they
05:23even took the time to put a little hole there now you don't get threading but
05:26if you have threading and you're an expert at threading a needle I'm usually
05:30the go-to person in the house whenever somebody says we need to thread a needle
05:34there was no to come to this guy and I can thread a needle with like the best
05:37of them basically you can feed a thread right through that and of course you got
05:40yourself the batarang with the rope so of course Batman wants to scale up the
05:44side of the wall maybe meet Sammy Davis jr. along the way you could do that by
05:49the way there is no storage space at all on the figures body even if there was
05:52normally Batman will always store everything on the back of his body just
05:55behind his cape funny though enough we were talking earlier about the classic
05:59series the more retro figures I'll just get Batman his arms down here for a
06:02second I would say some of the accessories fit okay with this Batman I
06:06guess the bat the best one being the Batzooka I don't know if we're ever
06:10gonna be getting ourselves a Batzooka of this scale if we do eventually get more
06:13of these figures but this one actually if you want you happen to have this bat
06:16I don't even remember which figure this came with but if you have the Batzooka
06:19it actually does fit in and you know what it's decently scaled like it's
06:23about the good it's the right size for Batman I feel like it if anything was a
06:27little bit too big for the regular retro figures but it's almost the ideal size
06:31even though his grip to hold it yeah it's questionable little questionable
06:35but he does have that if you know if you happen to have those original
06:38accessories then of course the figure does come include some swappable hands
06:42now already established the figure does have gripping hands in the ends of his
06:45forms he does also have some pointing hands now this hand is actually more for
06:48I don't know if he's just telling Batman we can walk the distance but Batman
06:52that's several miles or is also this one as well which I mean to look at this
06:57it doesn't even look like I guess if you wanted to you could take the bat radio
07:00and kind of hold it this way but you kind of have to have it literally just
07:04sitting on the ledge of his finger I don't think it really is designed for
07:08that then my favorite of the hands the figure comes include the bat to see hands
07:12how come Batman doesn't dance anymore remember the bat to see swapping out the
07:20hands fairly easy to do we're just gonna go ahead and wiggle the hands off
07:23to provide posts find the hand that we want to use of course and is that the
07:27right hand I want to make sure that's the right hand whether he's doing the
07:30bat to see or not same formula you got to follow the thumbs thumbs always go in
07:35so there's one hand the same thing on this side as well pop this hand also off
07:40plug this in place I think for right now until we get any other figures Batman is
07:45always going to be doing the bat to see on my shelf looks good I'm glad if
07:51anything that they did include these extra hands for Batman let's get his
07:56arms down here I guess really while we are holding Batman let's get a closer
07:58look at the figure from a head sculpt standpoint it certainly is better than
08:02what we got with the original release now I'm just gonna again bring in the
08:05original Batman which was still a fine figure but there's definitely a lot more
08:08details attention to details that they've afforded here the one from DC
08:12multiverse the only thing I would say though is his face does seem a little
08:15squished on the sides it almost looks like his head got stuck instead of a
08:20head press or a vice and they squish the sides of his face he does have the bat
08:24eyebrows there some nice additional light blue that they've done as well for
08:27the the nose piece there too and of course they've darkened depending on
08:30when you see the series either has this usually in blue or black they've chose
08:33this time around to use it in black head sculpt though again looks good again I
08:38don't know how many more of these bad ends we're gonna be getting whether we
08:41get an unmasked variety I think it would be also even safe to say that
08:45we're gonna be getting eventually a platinum edition of this Batman that
08:47maybe even in fact does have Bruce Wayne's alternate head portrait I'm
08:51calling it now I'm sure we're gonna be getting it of course you got the sewn in
08:54ears on the sides it looks good I mean he's got a decent profile in either side
08:58but I again I just can't help but feel like he's a little squished on the sides
09:01of his noggin here's where I have a problem with this figure and it's more
09:05so the cape not necessarily the material that they chose but then the other
09:09things that they chose along with it the material is pretty close to the
09:12original series the problem with it first of all is that they gave wires
09:15they put little wire frames on the side this isn't that type of Batman that does
09:19those kind of things if you want like a Michael Keaton Batman Michael Keaton
09:23will always be waving as his cape out I just don't feel it necessarily works to
09:27accommodate this version of Batman by having a wire built into his cape like
09:30this it also makes it a lot more rigid it just is a hard cape to kind of do
09:34anything with and it's always usually the case to that when you start to bend
09:38a cape it's always kind of hard to get things back straight and on the narrow
09:41the other thing I have problem wise with this cape is the length of it if I
09:46widen this out like this suppose the idea in mind is that Batman if he wants
09:50to fly down or if he wants to give like a wide wingspan like this he has a
09:55decent accommodating cape for that it's not until though that you have the cape
09:59in a neutral position that it's much lower cape than Batman really should
10:03have had in the series in the series he actually only has a cape that was like
10:07only to about here so this cape first of all is way too long and there's so
10:10much more excess of it it's so much unnecessary additional material that
10:14they've added to it you know again it works okay for a Batman I don't know if
10:17I would say it works as well for an Adam West Batman should have really been a
10:21lot shorter and honestly I don't think I would have been all that disappointed if
10:24they just chose to leave the wires off altogether and just gave them a just a
10:27regular draping cape again it's okay if like if you want to have the cape wide
10:31like this but just so much unnecessary material for this version of Batman the
10:36emblem is nicely done here now this is actually printed in place rather than
10:39actually molded the original Batman also would have had that as well the two
10:44utility belts this one is a little bit lower down on the figures torso just
10:48actually sitting below the top of his trunks this one's a little bit more in
10:51line with one another again you got the little pockets little square sections
10:55there that would open up generally it was back capsules sometimes you would
10:58have depending on the series this scene in the series that pockets would usually
11:04vary in size you always knew when Batman was about to grab it like a
11:07batarang for example because all of a sudden out of nowhere this pocket would
11:11be a lot larger and ironically enough the shape of a batarang and he would
11:14always open it that way the emblem though on the front is nicely done nice
11:18additional gold and of course you've got these softer now trunks the original
11:21figure would have had this in hard plastic the figure looks good the only
11:25thing again I just can't I can't settle on is the cape they chose it's way too
11:29big and again like if you just even have it in a neutral position see just how
11:33much more of it drapes down from the figures body now where's the original
11:38Batman if we were just to go back to this now I've already done full reviews
11:41of all the classic Batman retro figures we want to go back and look at these by
11:44the way again like see how see how long the cape should really be on Batman it's
11:47only really going to about his calf but the original Batman would have only had
11:51like a ball joint head hinge shoulders single hinge elbows hand rotations waist
11:56swivels legs I mean really if anything the legs are the only things that let
12:00these figures down I just wish that they could have split out and of course
12:03you just had single hinge knees the newer Batman at least does have a lot
12:07more of that so first of all the figure does have a ball joint so the head
12:10rotates all the way around it looks up down back and forth then you get the
12:15shoulders so with the shoulders what they've done is they put the little cup
12:18joints in there just to hide the obviously the more ruly looking hinge
12:22joints that they've got in the shoulders so because of that when you
12:25bring the arms out it does kind of fill out his form but it does give them a
12:28little bit more bulge in the top of his torso you can take the arms you can
12:32rotate them all the way around Batman does have a swivel in his bicep double
12:36hinge on his elbow and the hands rotate all the way around whether you want to
12:40use these hands you don't want to use these hands those same hands apply the
12:43same rule of the articulation applies upper torso ball joint lower torso ball
12:47joint they split the legs because again like now this figure does have a lot
12:51more pose ability again because this is also softer plastic does help to really
12:55help aid the splits on the figures of legs and it keeps things kind of again
12:59like very seamless looking there's a swivel at the top of the thigh here's
13:03one of my favorite things about this Batman is the fact they gave him even
13:05the knobby knees if you are familiar with the original 60s series you know
13:09that Adam West had very knobby near knees and they definitely did replicate
13:12that so nice the attention to detail that they actually added Adam West
13:16knobby knees but he does have a double hinge on his knee there's no
13:21articulation here for the boots but there at least is articulation up and
13:25down and you can also rock it back and forth the figure does also have toe
13:27articulation so for the most part the most part this is a nice-looking ideal
13:32Batman I love again like the fact that they gave this guy a much larger scale
13:36and gave him the pose ability where it counts things that I aren't I aren't
13:40things that I'm not as crazy about is the the biggest one being the cape the
13:44cape material is good the wire didn't need to be necessary and it certainly
13:47again like if you're looking at the excess like just to look at him from the
13:50side of his body look how much additional cape capage this character
13:55does actually have he didn't need to have that I'm almost even tempted to
13:57kind of trim the cape so it looks a little bit more well first of all it's
14:00higher on the figures body and again just doesn't have as much of the excess
14:04but again like the biggest problem now I'm looking at this and I'm thinking
14:08myself like on one end I'm obviously thrilled that we have ourselves a larger
14:12scale Batman I mean again like if you look you were to collect these I think I
14:16even did say in the original reviews of the classic Batman series you know again
14:19like I like that we have this line but I always kind of just said to myself I
14:23wish that they were taller I wish there were the same size as DC multiverse at
14:27the very least thing they need to have a lot more pose Billy we have that now
14:31but we also have that several years later and in that time collectors like
14:35myself have all sort of settled on the idea that we're never ever gonna get a
14:3960s Batman series in a DC multiverse scale so of course we were buying up all
14:44the other figures and you know it doesn't necessarily cast a shadow on the
14:48original figure line because the figure line was still good I don't know if
14:51we're still gonna be getting like a King Tut an egghead a bookworm we also got
14:55ourselves now a new Burke bookworm in the retro scale line will we ever see
14:58that in a similar scale to this Batman time will again only tell if we do
15:03though here's again where the problem comes I could see a lot of people
15:06probably selling off some of their older figures just because again like they
15:09probably were like myself waiting it out and hoping that this line was always
15:13gonna be in this scale now that we have a Batman safe to assume that we're
15:16probably gonna be giving ourselves a Robin but do we get any more than that
15:19on the one end again you could easily have two of the scale size figures
15:23coexist with one another just because you're collecting one doesn't mean you
15:27have to not collect the other or vice versa you could easily collect both
15:30figures because again like these figures will still be good for vehicles they're
15:32still gonna be good for play sets we're probably never gonna get a Batcave for
15:35the size of this Batman so again like you could really have both lines
15:39coexist with one another but it does though beg the question would they have
15:42always planned to do this figure line in this scale right from the beginning
15:46because if they did I would have been more happier I think to collect the
15:49Batman 60 series of this scale than I would on either side of the Batman right
15:53now the smaller scale figures were good but I think I would much have preferred
15:57Batman being this size right from day one breaking out in bat to see in the
16:02final looks of the figure Batman with one of his various different hand
16:05options the big things I like about the figure first of all is that a head
16:08sculpt on Batman does look a lot like Adam West the fact that they took the
16:11time to include things like bat to see hands and a notable thing like adding
16:15knobby knees those familiar with the original 60 series knows that Adam West
16:19he didn't have the best figure for Batman and funnier things about Batman
16:24is when you can see him especially running you'd notice right away he had
16:26very knobby knees they added that to the figure as well those are things I like
16:31things that I don't necessarily like are things that you're looking at right now
16:34more so is the cape the material and the color work okay the wireframe in my
16:39opinion at least doesn't the wire takes what normally should be on paper the
16:43means to make a cape more flexible ends up making the cape a little bit more
16:47rigid and I just wish that with this version of Batman it would have just
16:51draped naturally against his body the biggest culprit though is also the fact
16:54that they made the cape longer Batman this version of Batman should never
16:58really have a long cape I get though on paper once again going on paper that
17:02this Batman they gave it specifically that way so you can give him a wide
17:05wingspan when I think of Adam West Batman I don't think of that Batman
17:09doing things like that I think of him running down the street just in middle
17:13of public with knobby knees one thing as a side note those that figure does
17:18come included with again like the batarang and the bat radio I would
17:21imagine if they are planning to release any more Batman figures of the
17:24characters of the 60s series that we might get some additional bad
17:27accessories and hey why not maybe the hopes of having a bat shield may
17:32eventually make may eventually happen down the road here's the biggest problem
17:35again with this and again I don't want to bog down too much of this review just
17:39by saying the same thing again and again but you know again with this figure
17:42being the first of what I would imagine to be many how many collectors are gonna
17:47be looking at this figure and thinking you know what had I known that this
17:50figure was gonna be something that was gonna exist a couple of years from now
17:53how many collectors would have still collected the retro figures the retro
17:56figures are still good and they still have a place in my collection shelf
17:59because those are the kind of characters that still have their their vehicles
18:02because again I can't imagine we're gonna be getting ourselves a Batmobile I
18:04say that now watch we still get a Batmobile down the road for these
18:08figures but also those figures are perfect for fitting inside the Batcave I
18:12have a little place that Batcave that also McFarlane did release and I have my
18:16bat figures sitting inside those those figures will still have a place on my
18:19shelf the same way that this figure will have now a place on my shelf but again I
18:23have to wonder where this line is now gonna be going are we gonna assume that
18:27we're gonna be getting ourselves a Burt Ward Robin are we gonna be getting like
18:31all the the Catwoman you know the Riddler the Joker the Penguin mr. Freeze
18:35all three versions of mr. freeze how far down the rabbit hole with this line
18:40now go now that we've got ourselves a fully in scale Batman either way though
18:44this guy is available right now if you guys are interested either in stores or
18:48online I just happen to order this guy online and I'm glad that I finally did
18:51he ain't perfect but I do feel like he's a better representation of Batman the
18:56one that I would have wanted right from day one if you guys did enjoy this video
19:00do it a solid throw it a like you guys want to stick around for more so I hope
19:03so I hope so make sure you hit that subscribe make sure you turn on the bell
