00:00guess what we needed? assassins for sale! here's a look at the gentle giant limited
00:04Deadpool animated style statue
00:20developed by the amazing artisans at gentle giant limited, this limited
00:24edition Deadpool animated style statue is based on the variant cover artwork of
00:28Marvel Comics. it is individually numbered and includes a matching
00:31certificate of authenticity. one millimerk. I wonder if you can make change. before we
00:38get a closer look at the gentle giant limited animated style statue of
00:41Deadpool, first I'd like to thank the folks over at Diamond Select that were kind
00:43enough to provide the sample we could have a look at. this statue actually very
00:46faithfully recreates the variant cover art of Deadpool the Mercs for money
00:50which was released the newsstands I believe in July 20th 2016. let's also as
00:55well take the tape measure and just see how tall the statue before before we of
00:58course we get down to the details of it. the statue if you include of course the
01:01post on either side advertising the signage on the top gives us a statue
01:05that's about eight and a half in fact it's exactly eight and a half inches in
01:08height. that translates though to being about 21 and a half centimeters tall. if
01:13you're fairly familiar with the statues from gentle giant or diamond select for
01:16that matter then you'll know included inside the box you get yourself a
01:19certificate of authenticity. although it may not look like a certificate just yet
01:22featured though on the front of the card is actually an image of what the statue
01:25is going to look like. although on the back of the card is where the
01:28certificate comes to play. it says it's a gentle giant limited official release
01:31of Deadpool animated style statue of the very limited run of 3,000 copies
01:35worldwide. the one that was provided to me is 1319. I was really like to again
01:39hold on to these. if you don't have a plan to put these anywhere most
01:43definitely always put them back in the box because you definitely don't want to
01:45ever lose your certificate of authenticity. if you also forget the
01:49number that's on the card you'll also be treated to the exact same number. I have
01:52to be really careful picking this up. it's also located on the bottom of the
01:55base as well. 1319 also treated on the bottom of the base as well is for
02:00rubberized feet. one thing I always really say though is advocating the
02:03inclusion of these is first of all it prevents scratching on surfaces but
02:06second and probably most importantly it prevents also it adds just a little bit
02:11of lift above whatever you put this on that it prevents this number from
02:14wearing away and that's the last thing you really would want to have. while I'm
02:17also currently holding this there's a lot to kind of digest and discuss.
02:21obviously we see ourselves Wade Wilson the merc with the mouth selling some of
02:26his wares and selling his services for only a million a merc. again I can't
02:30believe the prices. he must have marked that down a little bit. this is actually
02:34again very much looking like the cover art here. I love the way it sort of looks
02:37like a kid's been scratching that in. I think though for pity what he really
02:41should have done is probably turn the R backwards. that's always a really good
02:44way if you're selling lemonade go for pity. turn one of those letters around.
02:48but again I really love the way that they've done this. it sort of does look
02:51crude. it looks like it's been drawn by hand. again you got nice little wrinkles
02:54there on the sides of this. I love the fact that they've also added a little
02:57bit of grass peeking up the bottom of this as well. obviously though on the
03:00front of the cover this would have been a lot larger. it almost kind of looks
03:03like he's perched himself on top of a hill. I feel like you're not beginning
03:06any business at all if you're out in the middle of nowhere. this guy really needs
03:09to set up shop I think on the side of a curb or sidewalk so that people can
03:13actually see him when they're walking by. some signage is also here on the top as
03:17well. it says merc. now again not necessarily going for pity but just to
03:20tell you exactly what he's all for it does have a little dollar sign. dollar
03:23sign. cross cross. I used to think that I think somebody told me this
03:28that two lines represents a lesser denomination of money. a single line
03:32maybe is more or maybe it's the other way around. either way though I don't
03:35think that I don't think Wade is all that concerned with how much value it is.
03:38I mean he's clearly advertising how much he's going for down below here on the
03:40sign. nice also again the fact that they did that in red. and again like the font
03:44looks pretty close the way it does in the comic. it's been nailed in place here
03:47as well. you again got a little few few little scratches there. panel lines added
03:51in there as well just to add to the realism of this looking like the comic.
03:54okay so here's where we kind of kind of start things going on here. now if you
03:59again looked at the comic you kind of can really can see where thing is like
04:03to like apples to apples. of course you got Wade there. I don't know how much
04:06business this guy is drawing in but I mean he clearly offers up exactly what
04:11kind of services he provides. there's a big bomb there on the front. a little
04:14Deadpool symbol there also as well. love the anime style of this character. if
04:18ever there be a better example of a character that would really work well
04:22for the anime style that Gentle Giant is doing, Deadpool is definitely him. of
04:26course you got some nice reflection there also here on his mask. I love that
04:29one eye is a little bit larger than the other. a little bit of a squinting eye.
04:31but let's get just like look at everything that's going on here. now
04:35obviously with all the stuff that he has here at the back of his shop in his
04:39booth there's obviously so much risk here potentially these things break him.
04:43this is actually made of resin. carefully hand-painted too. so removing this guy
04:47out of the styrofoam tray which is something also I clearly have already
04:50done. I was very careful especially things like his sword sticking out that
04:54it wasn't gonna snag on the bag. because snagging on the bag would result in
04:57breaking the blade and then I would be upset. very upset. of course he does have
05:01a shuriken lodged in the side of the of the beam there. that's a nice little
05:05touch. this again be very careful of that. you've got yourself a brass knucks.
05:09looks like clearly a hunting knife. some rope. we got a bomb spinning this
05:14around to the back here. we got ammunition. we've got what looks to be a
05:17Gatling Tommy gun. a chainsaw. what's all going on here? a scope. let's see what
05:23else we have here. this is one of my favorite things here in the back. I mean
05:26I guess he had to stop to eat himself pancakes or maybe it's one of the tools
05:29of the trade. he's got himself a frying pan. a stack of hot cakes with of course
05:34a little bit of square butter. he's got himself a rubber duck. a rubber duck?
05:38rubber chicken. he's got himself a pallet. a mallet? what do you call it? a paddle? a
05:42paddle from badminton? a big box? a whole bunch of big boxes of stuff. it looks
05:47like he's got himself a baseball bat. again another knife. it looks like
05:50there's a whoopee cushion in there as well. I mean the question would not
05:54necessarily be what you have. the question would probably be better asked
05:57is what don't you have. the only thing that's really missing here on the back
05:59of this is the kitchen sink because literally he has everything else here. a
06:04kitchen sink would have been a perfect touch and I also really like the fact
06:07there's a little spatula sticking out of the box. some nice shading is also added
06:10in there as well. you got some some little bit of shadowing. a little bit
06:13again of the panel lining added on the back. I love just the crude look at the
06:17boxes and everything again has a very much animated vibe to it. on the back you
06:21can also see as well he's got a few pockets going there. I love that he's
06:24also leaning forward. he doesn't seem to have a place to sit either so I don't
06:28know like when Wade's getting a little tired selling his wares this whole time
06:31he doesn't seem to have a place to sit. certainly whatever you do don't don't
06:34sit on the spatula or don't sit on the rubber chicken whatever you do. again the
06:38color is so vibrant on this. everything that has everything that has a place in
06:42the boxes seem to have their own appropriate colors there as well. I mean
06:45obviously when you're seeing this from the cover you're really only seeing it
06:49from the front so it really had to then be for the talented team behind the
06:52scenes at Gentle Giant to sort of craft kind of the idea of what would things
06:56look like on the back of this and I think it looks just as in fact it
06:59actually I feel that like it looks more fun on the back of this because it's not
07:02you only see so much of it from the front of the statue. you have more fun I
07:06feel when you start to turn the statue around and you realize everything that
07:09Deadpool has at his disposal. again the only thing I would really certainly say
07:13when it comes to the statue, as fun as it may be, it's certainly not fun getting
07:16this thing out of the packaging. of course it's always carefully packed. it's
07:19always carefully packed when it comes to Gentle Giant and Diamond Select.
07:22carefully removing though from the styrofoam is one task that you have to
07:25contend with. the other one really being taking off the plastic bag. everything on
07:30here can be potentially sagged on that bag. so especially like the sword on the
07:33side, the knives on this side here and the shuriken. so you want to really be
07:37careful when you're taking this out. don't take it out quickly for the
07:40potential of anything on the statue breaking. if you succeed in doing all
07:43those things what you're treated to is a really fun looking statue that's gonna
07:46look amazing on your shelf. the artist by the way for this Deadpool variant cover
07:50was Scotty Young and every attention to Scotty Young's original artwork has been
07:54captured by Gentle Giant. not though including Scotty Young's signature in
07:57the far corner. the thing also about this though is that Gentle Giant had to
08:01come up with some creative ideas for what exactly would be behind Wade Wilson's
08:04booth because we really only just get this chance to see it from the front. I
08:07mean when you start to spin the statue around and it's one of those things that
08:11I feel like the statue has to be seen from all the sides. this is one I feel
08:14that goes better on a table than just on a shelf because you put it on a shelf
08:18you're only gonna be able to see it from the front. but when you look around to
08:21the back all the fun stuff that's there. the spatula sticking out of the box, the
08:25rubber chicken, not to mention the frying pan full of hotcakes. it's all
08:28those again attentions to detail that Gentle Giant are really known for doing.
08:32I mean if you're a big fan of this particular variant cover art there's
08:36nothing at all that was missed from a detail standpoint when it comes to the
08:40statue release of it. though being the fact that it is released in resin you
08:43will want to be careful when it comes to taking this out of its styrofoam
08:46tray. like with all the cases though this gets carefully packed inside of styrofoam
08:50and then on top of that it's wrapped around with a bag. I did notice though
08:54when trying to remove the bag and something I did mention in this review
08:57that it does it did get snagged on some of the areas more importantly like the
09:00blade of the sword. so just be careful take it off very carefully because the
09:04last thing you would want to have is anything on the statue. as good as this
09:07statue may be you don't want anything breaking on it. a big thank you again to
09:12the folks over at Diamond Select that did provide this sample of the animated
09:15style statue of Deadpool based on Scotty Young's original artwork. what do you
09:20guys think of this? let me know down below in the comment section. is this one
