00:00Hey Vogue, it's Jessica Chastain and this is my everyday morning routine.
00:09And I want to start my day on the best note.
00:13So these are Ritual, this is the Essential for Women and I'll usually do it with a tea.
00:19I've got the Dr. Devkin, the Lash Serum.
00:27Serum is super important for your skin and True Botanicals has a Chiboula Serum.
00:33And I want to give it time on my skin to really absorb.
00:36When you put things on, you always go up.
00:39I worked with a makeup artist once who just kept hitting me.
00:44She kept doing this to my skin with the products, it's like, what are you doing?
00:48I realized it made my skin look better, I don't know what that is.
00:52I've always known that taking care of your skin is an extension of taking care of yourself.
00:58And no matter how busy you are, you should always find time for it.
01:01My grandmother took me to the cosmetics counter at a department store when I was in 6th grade,
01:107th grade, and hooked me up with a bunch of skincare products that I didn't even know
01:14I had to wash my face at that time.
01:17And it really started the ritual of taking care of my skin.
01:20I travel a lot and when I travel, I love to get products.
01:27And these masks, they're hard to find.
01:32And sometimes I'll even wear these in the car when I'm going to hair and makeup for a film.
01:38Also I'm a person who loves to do skincare on flights and I put a full sheet mask on
01:43my face and then go to sleep.
01:46And sometimes what I'll do is I'll take a scarf that is breathable and just put it over my head.
01:52You land, your skin looks amazing, you're ready to take on the new city.
01:56I love this.
01:59I have many different kinds of sunscreen I use, but the True Botanicals ones is nice
02:02because look, it's tinted.
02:04And I use it as primer underneath my eyeshadow.
02:09Now we're going to eyeshadow.
02:10Boop!
02:11Lots of different palettes of eyeshadow.
02:12I thought this was really cute.
02:14It's like such a cute place to keep your brushes when they're upside down.
02:17I tend to go with the darker colors first and then put the lighter colors on.
02:22I think I'll do this.
02:25I'm going to smear that in.
02:29Now I was raised by a single mother of two brothers and two sisters.
02:33She was super young.
02:34She was 17 when she had me.
02:36Because she was young and so fun, she always had makeup and stuff around.
02:42My grandma too.
02:44They were great beauties, my mom and grandma.
02:46I'm going to do a smaller one for the lower.
02:49And so I would sneak makeup as soon as I could.
02:54It was really important to me to be as cool as them.
02:57I'm going to go with the light, light color.
02:59Again, this is just like, I know it's going to look really messy, but I think it's cool.
03:03Because again, I'm going to smear it around.
03:07I love the pops of colors in my wardrobe.
03:11But in terms of my face, earth tones all the way.
03:16The great thing about this is it's super hydrated and I don't have to clean off any of the eyeshadow
03:22that's fallen down.
03:24So now I'm going to prep my skin for foundation.
03:27True Botanicals, it's a pure radiance oil.
03:32I have super dry skin.
03:33Part of that's my genetics.
03:35Part of that's my fault because I don't drink enough water.
03:39If everyone drinks water, good for you.
03:41I try my best, but it's not as easy as drinking other things.
03:48I want to hydrate my skin because I don't drink enough water and I need to, and it stops
03:52today.
03:53So I will.
03:54There we go.
03:55I am a lip balm kind of gal.
03:58Love it, love it, love it.
03:59I always have it in my purse.
04:01That and sunscreen.
04:02I think those are the only two things I always have in my purse.
04:05I have a red lipstick too.
04:07Sunscreen.
04:09Let's use this one right now.
04:10Maybe I should have gotten a new one for this video.
04:15There we go.
04:16Okay.
04:17This is the Mario Badescu, the drying lotion.
04:21People are going to give comments right now, but I have long fingers and they're clean.
04:25And here we go.
04:26I'm just going to take a little tiny, tiny bit like that.
04:31And then once it's dry, I'm going to kind of wipe it off.
04:35You've got like a layer on between the blemish and the makeup.
04:40So watch this.
04:42So I've got like the shield on and now I'm going to do the rest of my coverage.
04:45Foundation.
04:46I like this Charlotte Tilbury.
04:49I like it.
04:51The goal is to look as natural as possible.
04:57Sometimes actually when I'm acting, I wear even less makeup than I do in normal life.
05:02Depending on the characters don't have time.
05:05So like a film I just finished called Memory, that makeup was just really putting sunscreen
05:09on because the character I played, Sylvia, doesn't wear a stitch in makeup.
05:13I've definitely done movies where I've had to wear a ton of makeup, like Molly's Game.
05:19I've had so many people just be shocked by that film.
05:23Hourglass.
05:24What was so fun about Molly's Game is that the character looked nothing like me.
05:28And as an actress, that's an amazing thing to play.
05:31I also saw the difference in men around me when I played that.
05:38I kind of studied the Kardashians a bit.
05:40There was a lot of face shading in Molly.
05:45I love this brand, Neen.
05:48Sometimes I do this, gives myself a little sun-kissed look.
05:56So love these things, Urban Essentials.
05:58I always take it on the airplane, it's in my carry-on.
06:00But it's so great if it's a stressful moment, it resets you.
06:05It also helps you clean your hands.
06:08Alright, now I do this eye pencil.
06:10It's the Makeup Forever.
06:12So it brightens up the eye, makes your eyes look bigger.
06:16Should I do mascara next?
06:18Doesn't matter.
06:19Let's do it.
06:20We got the Dior.
06:23I just kind of go though to the root.
06:25I don't sometimes pull it all the way through.
06:31I do this.
06:32You just want to get those lashes that you wouldn't be able to reach.
06:40One thing I forgot here.
06:41You see that?
06:42That little sunspot?
06:43I'll go there.
06:48Okay, another Charlotte product I love.
06:56It's really important to kind of always try to brush them up.
06:59The eyebrows don't take over my face, they do grow down.
07:04I'm just using a regular eyeshadow.
07:06This one, I might be using this one.
07:08When people are younger, your face is fuller and as you get, you know, more wise and experienced.
07:14My face, anyway, started to thin out a bit, but I have always had this bump on my nose.
07:19I've just kind of done a little tiny bit of shading, hardly anything, and it softened
07:25the bump.
07:26Lips.
07:27I'm going to do another moisturizer.
07:30So pretty, right?
07:33I use this so much, I can't even tell you the color of it, but it's Armani.
07:39You know how I said I put a red lipstick in my purse kind of all the time?
07:43This is what I love to do with a red lipstick.
07:49If it's evening and I'm like, oh no, I want a big red mouth, it just feels so like badass
07:53and French and I just love it.
07:55I layer, layer, layer.
07:56It kind of looks like I've just like made out with someone.
07:59Also kind of what I love about it is what you can do with red lipstick, but I also sometimes
08:03throughout the day can just like add a little bit more powder.
08:08This reminds me of my grandmother's makeup, which is probably why I love it.
08:11I just put it here, here, and here.
08:15I was taught this trick by a makeup artist, is to spray rose water as the finishing touch.
08:25I love the way it smells.
08:26Let's do hair.
08:27I use these clips to give it a cool, you see that indentation that happened just from it?
08:36I love this brush.
08:37It doesn't break my hair.
08:38I'll just like, I want it to, I want my hair to look like I didn't really do anything.
08:46This is my natural hair color.
08:47I don't know if you can see my gray.
08:49Yeah, probably right there.
08:50There's a lot of gray.
08:51The cool thing about red hair too, is it turns white.
08:54It doesn't really turn gray.
08:57I need a little bit of this by my roots anyway, to kind of like sicken up top.
09:04I think it's cool.
09:05Look at that.
09:06Look how cool that looks.
09:07Like no effort, right?
09:09I did this after the shower with wet hair, but I also do this throughout the day.
09:13I'll just take some, put on the ends of my hair.
09:15It doesn't even need to be wet, and I'll just put it through.
09:19I know you're supposed to wash it out.
09:21I never do.
09:22What's great about the True Botanicals is they have the body lotion that has retinol
09:26in it.
09:27Day to day, it's nice to have this dewiness about you.
09:33I love perfumes.
09:34I have a different perfume for every character I play.
09:37I just can't quit this perfume right now.
09:39It's sticking with me.
09:40It's my perfume of the summer, and you can tell I don't have a lot left in there.
09:44When I'm working on a character, I think about what that character would smell like.
09:49When I think about what that scent would be, like tree of life, I thought she'd smell like
09:53orange blossoms, because there's something a little natural and earthy about it.
09:56When I'm doing research, I'll wear the perfume of the character, and then when I'm shooting,
10:00I do it every day.
10:01It's like an immediate emotional thing of falling into the character.
10:06All right, so I'm done.
10:07I think we made a deal to drink more water, so I'm going to go have a glass right now.
10:12Bye, Vogue.
