00:00What does it take to get out of a spiral?
00:04A losing spiral. I have the answer. Huh?
00:07Advil.
00:08I have the answer.
00:11What did it take
00:13for the Warriors to break that 12-year playoff?
00:15Identifying they have a problem.
00:17Barron Davis.
00:18Well, nah.
00:20Who turned it around after they missed the playoffs five years?
00:23Steph Curry.
00:25What happened to the A's after their dynasty in the 70s?
00:27What happened? How did it break?
00:29Canseco Maguire.
00:31Shooty Babbitt.
00:31How did the 49ers get back on?
00:34Colin Kaepernick.
00:37Boy, how did the 49ers sustain since it's at Brock Purdy?
00:41I don't want to wait that long.
00:45I'm bummed.
00:46What now?
00:46No haircut.
00:48You need to grow it out.
00:51Who are you, Dr. J?
00:53Why did you say that?
00:54I told you I like Bonte's hair when he grows it out.
00:56You did tell him that.
00:58I do.
01:05Yeah, Giants.
01:07Oh, now you're...
01:09Dude, I am...
01:09Do you care or do you want to just...
01:11I keep it real.
01:12I like the last three nights.
01:14He couldn't get out of the...
01:16And he was grunting like Spadoni tweeted Nate Dawg.
01:20Did you hear him grunting?
01:21Evan's like, he does that all the time.
01:22I said, that was a little louder yesterday, Evan.
01:26I didn't notice him grunt.
01:27That grunt slam by your boy, man.
01:29Granny!
01:34Laugh into the mic.
01:36Let's have a little fun here.
01:37Bob Melvin was asked if the energy might have been sapped after a five-run first.
01:48Why isn't it working?
01:50I just pushed the sound.
01:51User error.
01:54Eight, seven.
01:55You know, Tyler hits home run right away.
01:56Now it's a five to one.
01:58So, no, not at all.
02:00Hold on.
02:01While we reset, let's listen to Robbie Ray.
02:0436.
02:05Got him.
02:07Hit it again.
02:09Got him.
02:10It's like Monica Seles.
02:11It's that Wimbledon on her baseball game.
02:13That Wimbledon.
02:15Tweet.
02:16Made a mess.
02:17Yeah.
02:18This is a crazy first inning.
02:20Give it up to one more.
02:21Can you play that one more time?
02:22He sounded like it.
02:2636.
02:27Got him.
02:29Did it again.
02:30Got him.
02:31Oh my goodness.
02:33All that to get shells, Donnie.
02:35Hit two batters.
02:37They only had one hit off him.
02:40They only had one hit off him.
02:41That was Robbie Ray or the guys he hit.
02:42That was incredible.
02:45Wow.
02:46Let's hear what he, let's hear what, hey, Robbie, what happened in the first?
02:50That was a weird one.
02:52I felt really good warming up before the game and
02:56just came out the first inning and
02:58I was just a little off.
02:59That was one of those ones where it's, you know,
03:03kind of an anomaly
03:05because I felt so good
03:07and the results
03:09weren't there at all.
03:11So
03:12just move past it and look forward to the next one.
03:16I wonder why he sounds so down after giving up five in the first inning.
03:19No, he didn't make it out of the first is probably what that mean.
03:21Man.
03:22That's kind of like yikes.
03:24I didn't, you know what?
03:25Evan, tell me what you think because you're the pitching expert.
03:28Yeah.
03:28I threw two.
03:31But he's, he was more like Maddox.
03:33You were just a thrower.
03:34By the way, we can listen to something that Greg Maddox put out yesterday.
03:37I sent it on the Vine.
03:38Really, really cool.
03:39We will do that.
03:40It's incredible.
03:41Because I need to listen to it because even though he sent it, I didn't listen.
03:44But I heard it's pretty good.
03:45Bonds and Maddox.
03:48Fair.
03:49As
03:53Robbie Evan, am I crazy or not?
03:55Like
03:56I don't think he was as bad
03:59as the results were.
04:00Like he, he got ahead of some guys.
04:03He hit two dudes at the start of the game, Scott.
04:06He didn't walk the other.
04:07Yeah, but he didn't hit them square.
04:10I mean, any time you put five on without a hit.
04:13Like, I think the Giants were down at one point.
04:16Was it 6-1 or 6 or 5-1?
04:185-1.
04:18Yeah.
04:20They'd given up one hit.
04:22Right.
04:23At one point, it was either 6 or 8 and they'd given up three hits.
04:28Wow.
04:29That only happens if you're putting guys on base, which is the one thing you can't do.
04:32No doubt.
04:33The two guys he hit, it was 0-2 on both.
04:36Well.
04:37I like this approach.
04:40I need you to be my manager.
04:41Stay in there, buddy.
04:43Break a leg.
04:45All right, let's get back to the energy in that first inning and what happened after
04:48five runs scored.
04:50Bob Melvin.
04:51I think it was more just about Robby being, you know, we want to make sure he's okay
04:55and healthy.
04:56You know, he would have wanted to try to grind through it.
04:58But no, we come back and you know, Tyler hits home run right away and now it's a
05:025-1.
05:03So, no, not at all.
05:05Especially after the homer.
05:07Okay, those are the kind of answers that bother me.
05:09Yeah, break it down, Stoney.
05:11Oh, no, they were gung-ho.
05:13I mean, they were fired up after being down 5-0.
05:16How can it not affect you?
05:18It affected Evan.
05:19He left in the third.
05:20Man, I watched the whole broadcast.
05:24I turned it off after it was, well, let me see.
05:27I'll take you through my night.
05:30Saw the five.
05:31Saw Fitzgerald's homer.
05:33Who hit the third?
05:34Was it Olsen?
05:35What about Soler trying to catch Fitzgerald's homer?
05:39Boy.
05:39Boy, Giants could use a guy like Soler.
05:41Spraying it to all fields.
05:42Stop.
05:45Then I, you know, then I went to the radio.
05:48And there was equal disgust on the radio from the announcers.
05:51Then I went back home and it was 13 and I said,
05:56I think I got the gist of this one.
05:57Yeah, they squandered an opportunity.
05:59This week has been an opportunity.
06:00Which one?
06:01Having the team that you're chasing in your ball yard for four.
06:05And, you know, not even to show up yesterday.
06:08Think there was any correlation with having your heart ripped out the night?
06:12They're just not getting it done with the bats, Stoney.
06:14But yesterday was about the pitching.
06:16Still no, I mean,
06:18they, man, their offense is offensive.
06:20How about that?
06:24I'm not even going to score that one.
06:25I didn't like it.
06:27So, Evan, help me with some of this sound.
06:29What's this stuff from Farhan?
06:30I'm not going to get to it.
06:31Is this from
06:33Better Days?
06:34These were for Better Days ago?
06:36Yeah, this was from the trade deadline when he discussed the best pitching
06:40rotation in the league.
06:42I'm not going to, I'm going to go to that in a minute because I want to hear
06:45more of a Bob Melvin.
06:47Here's how,
06:49how do you think the first three games have gone?
06:51The first two, obviously, are real tough ones for us.
06:55But this team's had a way of bouncing back.
06:57You know, today we just got behind it early and, you know, just gave up a
07:01bunch of runs.
07:02So it was, you know, once you take some guys out of the game, it's a little
07:05bit settled before for the outcome.
07:07But this is one we really need to come back and try to win.
07:10Tomorrow's, I don't want to say anything's a must game, but we need to
07:13get back to 500 tomorrow and then have an off day and regroup.
07:16Yeah.
07:20Turn this thing around.
07:21You got Logan Webb on the mound.
07:22It don't matter if you got Jesus.
07:24You need somebody to get hit.
07:25They got two runs last night, Steiner.
07:28How's Tyler Fitzgerald hitting for you?
07:29Is he doing enough?
07:31I mean, he's flashing right now.
07:33I mean, Ramos flashed the first half to an all-star appearance.
07:36So I have no problem with it.
07:37Baseball will humble you.
07:38He's coming back to earth, but he still, he looks like he belongs.
07:41Fitzgerald, come out of nowhere.
07:43He's come out of nowhere.
07:45Can he sustain it over 162?
07:46I don't know, but Evan pointed out when you look at Fitz in late
07:51innings, you know, he ain't having the same results as early on in the
07:55game, but I do like him, but they just don't hit, partner.
07:59Evan has some, Evan, tell us what you were telling us about Tyler
08:04Fitzgerald.
08:06Not, it's not an opinion.
08:07Yeah.
08:08He's looked at some, he's looked at some advanced numbers.
08:12No, it, look, Tyler Fitzgerald is hitting the crap out of the ball
08:17and he's about the only exciting part offensively with this Giants
08:21team, but the amount of players that across the minor leagues strike
08:26out at a rate that he does and then have a long-term career are very
08:31few.
08:32So what he's doing is an exceptional outlier, but just like wisely
08:39earlier in the year, Schmidt to some extent last year, even Ramos
08:44to a little bit in the first half of the season, there's probably
08:47going to be a point where he tapers off a bit and that's, that's
08:50like my biggest issue with the Giants is that they are far too
08:53dependent on players like Tyler Fitzgerald carrying them for a
08:58long period of time when it's unreasonable to expect that that's
09:02going to continue and they haven't had enough players that consistently
09:05can do that at the same time.
09:07Like first, you know, at the beginning of the year, I don't know,
09:10it could have been Conforto.
09:11I think Conforto was really hot to start the year, then he got hurt.
09:14Okay, so he's going to pick it.
09:15All right.
09:15Well, you don't have enough bats altogether that perform at a level
09:20that you need to win.
09:22And I just think it's interesting that, I mean, you talk about trying
09:26to develop young players and someone like Luciano gets five starts
09:30after the break and then he gets subbed out for, you know, a prospect
09:33Grant McCrae, who's nice, but can fly.
09:36I don't know what they're doing.
09:38I don't know what they're trying to do.
09:39I think that was Beaumille or that was Farhan.
09:40That was Farhan.
09:41Yeah, see, and that's what I hate about it, guys.
09:43But also just starting about Fitzgerald, that's why it was a joke
09:48you had him bunt.
09:49That's why that was a joke.
09:51Not everybody agrees with you.
09:52And even if you get to third with one out, the way this team is
09:55hitting, that's not even automatic.
09:57If you're the Yankees or the Dodgers or you're a powerhouse
10:00offensively, I get it.
10:01But this team is so impotent at the plate.
10:04So I would have let the young kid hit, man.
10:06Well, and I respect that.
10:09But I lean heavily on my two baseball experts.
10:14Who you got?
10:15Evan Giddings and Andrew Baggerly of the Athletics.
10:19And both those guys disagree with you.
10:21So I'm going to... But Evan, you don't listen to him.
10:23No, I do listen to him. Yesterday he said, you know, Gu, I'm coming.
10:26I can kind of feel you on that.
10:28I don't all the way agree. I'm not saying he couldn't feel you,
10:29but he understood the other side of it, too.
10:32The other side of the argument.
10:34Well, it didn't work.
10:35So my side was the right side.
10:37And that's what I would disagree with you about because it's baseball.
10:43I think sometimes you can make the right decisions.
10:45They just don't work out.
10:46Well, you don't bunt.
10:47That's not a part of who you are.
10:49And then you try to bunt all of a sudden.
10:50That was stupid.
10:51Evan!
10:52It was desperate by the manager and it blew up in your face.
10:55Let the young kid rake.
10:57It's my two cents.
10:57What was his philosophy?
11:00Which one?
11:02The bunt where they should have thrown the guy out at third.
11:05But Fitzgerald's out.
11:07Yeah, that was the biggest issue.
11:08Schmidt got bailed out.
11:10They got bailed out and still didn't make them pay.
11:14By the way, this is really the crux of the issue with the Giants right now.
11:17This is from the 650.
11:19Fitzgerald is the face of the franchise right now.
11:24And so was Ramos in the first half.
11:27So was Wisely.
11:28They don't have a face.
11:30Hello.
11:32How about in ownership too?
11:33They're faceless.
11:34Why don't they have a face?
11:36Scared.
11:37No, they're not scared to have a face.
11:40Nobody wants to be the face or nobody's good enough.
11:44And the Giants got money too.
11:46Ownership.
11:46They got deep pockets.
11:47And they spent.
11:49Well, you got me there.
11:52Bob Melvin left to answer the Luciano question.
11:56Why have they moved off Luciano right now?
12:00Cuz in Canassi own was swinging a little bit better at the time, you know,
12:03can I got here to use potential DH as well?
12:07So things can change in a hurry.
12:09And again, we're trying to run our best line about there and have our best
12:12compliment on a particular day.
12:14You know, it was easy to at that point in time to try to envision more at
12:19bats for Luciano, but it kind of dried up in a hurry.
12:23Okay.
12:23Wow.
12:24Can we focus on it?
12:25The first neon, the first split second.
12:29Can we focus on the first?
12:30He gets asked about Luciano.
12:32Cuz in Canassi own was swinging a little bit better at the time, you know,
12:36can I got here too?
12:38He did not want to answer that question.
12:40Oh, man.
12:41They sacrificed him for Canada.
12:44I like your snail.
12:45I don't even know where he came from.
12:47Get out of here, man.
12:49I don't like I'm Troy Aikman.
12:50I don't like any of it and you said they spent but they were like
12:53Brett not wisely.
12:57That's a three.
13:00Somebody give me that number.
13:04My voice said to three.
13:06No three.
13:07I'll give you a three.
13:08Yeah, that was a bar.
13:09GP three.
13:11Like how did he know to hit the button that fast or even find it GP
13:15three?
13:17They don't get enough credit for what they do and bring to the show
13:20style the timing.
13:23Let's go to Mike.
13:30Mike's in Santa Clara.
13:31Oh boy.
13:32That's where Brandon Ayuk is in practice.
13:34Oh, there you go.
13:36Hey Mike.
13:39Hey guys, good to hear from you.
13:42I'm just curious.
13:43Like I'm, you know, parkour Giants fan ever since like 84.
13:48I'm I'm just like what the hell do we have to do to make a
13:53freaking move, you know to make this team relevant again.
13:58I mean, I'm even thinking about even trying to put like Logan Webb
14:02into a trade if we have honestly like the best if we have the best
14:08lineup with starting pitching with Blake Snell and everyone else.
14:13What do we have to do to get someone over here?
14:16It's getting it's honestly disgusting at this point.
14:21You just try to find a bat that can actually power us to be relevant
14:27again, or even just get some sort of some sort of like, you know,
14:33just making the Giants fans happy at this point.
14:38Well, what would that be?
14:41Well, I really wish we had gotten we tried harder for Vlad in this
14:46point.
14:46Got you know that just as an example, just as an example, right?
14:50Right.
14:50But we need something we need something and I don't know what's
14:55going to happen during the offseason.
14:57I don't think any of us do at this point, but even trying to make
15:01a trade for it, but you know for me guys, I would even try to even
15:08put in there Logan Webb get something if it's a trade in there
15:13at this point.
15:14I'm with you.
15:15We honestly have the best.
15:17Yeah, if we have like the best, you know, starting pitching line
15:21up as far on says which it's it's okay.
15:28It's okay.
15:29I could still I could still go to ball with that at that at that
15:33same time.
15:33So thanks guys.
15:36A lot of people wouldn't that would hit the cardiac muscles down
15:38anywhere, but I'm just okay.
15:40You got these great pictures and why would snail want to stay here
15:44if you're not a threat to win, but if you're not going to swap out
15:47the players, which it doesn't look like you went on a spending
15:50spree.
15:51What does next year look like?
15:52I don't know.
15:53Do guys all of a sudden get to Lidge under Pat Barrel Stoney and
15:57their approach is different.
15:59I like everything's on the table for me with the Giants because
16:03this can't continue and you talk about was last time.
16:05They want to play a series 14.
16:07Oh my that's a decade.
16:09Have you remember I brought up that's that but I'm just think
16:15about it, man.
16:16I do think about it.
16:19I do think about it and think about Logan Webb.
16:22He's just rotting away here.
16:23Not even pitching on big in big-time game failing Logan Webb
16:27with everyone.
16:27Wow.
16:28Are the Giants failing Logan Webb?
16:30Ask him.
16:32Ask him.
16:34But that's not too far-fetched brother.
16:36I just don't understand why they haven't.
16:39Like really tried to build a team around pitching.
16:45And you can say they did it this year, but they did it this
16:47year out of necessity.
16:48Well, you had Gosman and you ran him off.
16:50Exactly.
16:51And by the way, how's my guy doing in New York?
16:54No, Rodon.
16:55He's got his groove back.
16:57How many other guys?
16:58Peterson.
16:59I mean, Jack Peterson.
17:00That hit me.
17:01Alex Cobb pitching pretty well.
17:04I'm just saying.
17:06How's Joey Bart doing in Pittsburgh?
17:07Doing well.
17:08They lost 10 in a row.
17:09But he's doing well for himself.
17:11Sitting 340.
17:12He got about what?
17:1312, 11 homers?
17:14Sitting like 260.
17:15Yeah, Joey is a player.
17:18He's hitting better than what you got here with Bailey, but
17:20behind the play, Bailey's 1.7.
17:22What is it?
17:23It's an organizational failure.
17:26I don't, man.
17:28I don't know what the answer is.
17:30I really don't.
17:31And I don't think they do.
17:32And what scared me about they, I don't even know if they know
17:35what the question is.
17:38Now, that's poignant.
17:39But what does it mean?
17:40Have you looked at Farhan as a failure?
17:43You cannot sit here and say, oh, this dude's doing an okay
17:46job because we're in San Francisco.
17:48Let me tell you something about this beautiful city.
17:50Let me tell you something about the.
17:51Stop caping for the city.
17:53I didn't need caping.
17:54Just drive across the Bay Bridge.
17:55Oh, it needs caping, all right.
17:56Please, Donnie.
17:57Three and five.
17:58He called it a dynasty.
18:00Yeah, with homegrown guys.
18:02Well, see, I, if you don't, if you don't believe that, that
18:07it's, that there's truth, that big boy hitters don't want to
18:13come here because of the park.
18:14I don't believe that.
18:16Then prove it to me.
18:18Well, give me the job and I'll go wine and dine, have some
18:22margaritas, some salsa, go to a nice Mexican restaurant out
18:26here and I'll sell the Giants.
18:29That's what it's about.
18:30And I'll sell the Giants.
18:31That's what it's about.
18:32You know what?
18:33Do that.
18:33Give me Theo Epstein.
18:35He'll close somebody, Stoddy.
18:37I really believe that.
18:38I watched that dude at the Bears Sports Hall of Fame ceremony.
18:42He wasn't working the room.
18:43That's who's selling.
18:45It's like asking the girl to dance.
18:46You got to have flair.
18:48You got to dress right.
18:49You got to have confidence.
18:51This dude ain't doing none of that.
18:52We do it all in San Francisco.
18:54No, it's a combination.
18:57Get Bobby Myers in there.
19:00Closers close.
19:01Tiny Pat Riley would close.
19:07You're so off base.
19:09I swear to my way of thinking like I'm watching my favorite
19:12movie like I like I don't know where to go.
19:15If guru you won't even acknowledge that part of the
19:20problem is the ballpark.
19:22Okay.
19:22I hope you think I won't even acknowledge that part of the
19:27problem could be part.
19:29Not all the city.
19:32You don't acknowledge that maybe a small part of the other
19:35problem could be the taxes.
19:38Oh, Tony's paying taxes and you're not acknowledging here.
19:42You're not acknowledging crime is the same in LA that you're
19:45not exactly.
19:45You're not acknowledging that some players might not want to
19:48play here because this franchise doesn't win anymore.
19:52Now that's not it.
19:53Come on now.
19:53Okay, I think that's heavier than the ballpark.
19:56But the whole thing is convinced me.
19:58What's it?
19:59What's the plan?
20:00You are the plan.
20:01If I'm talking to judge if I'm talking to Stan, it was we're
20:04going to build around you.
20:06Okay.
20:07Why would they do that?
20:08Goo?
20:09Why would they do that?
20:11Why would they take the meeting partner to create leverage
20:15which they use wrong on that?
20:18But you act like we didn't have our finger at this station
20:22on the breaking news Sounder the judge was going to sign
20:25here Willard and dibs.
20:27When did a show in Linden his hometown, but don't don't run
20:32from you were like, let me a Bubba on Twitter reporting that
20:36he might cut all that happened.
20:39All you needed was a salesman did not.
20:44Okay, then fire Farhan.
20:46Oh, I know.
20:47He already is already that the free agents will come flooding
20:50in here.
20:50I would rather not get him knowing at least we tried something
20:53different.
20:53That's all.
20:55This dude is failed.
20:56Stony.
20:56I'm not sitting here saying he has it is not the second inning
20:59of his tenure.
21:00You're there and it were an extra that's all fine.
21:04But you're to ignore to ignore.
21:07What is it is pretty obvious to me is a failure on your part
21:13the taxes.
21:14I'm talking about Park.
21:18Man, what?
21:21I know people hate to hear it, but it's true.
21:27It's a lot of different factors.
21:29It's never one thing.
21:30We got to get we have bread balloon on maybe we get a like
21:33somebody a hitter that can speak to how much do you think that
21:37ballpark is is being is is the main reason Boppers are not
21:42coming here.
21:42Like I don't even care about the main reason made that Park
21:45look and I know you're like one.
21:47Well, no Schwarber Ohtani judge Soto right-handed hitter left-handed
21:53hitter.
21:53So you're taking us a one series sample and I'll give that to
21:56you.
21:56But you know what?
21:57I mean, and I think I just don't I mean, what more proof do
22:01you need?
22:01Gerald ain't have a problem hitting it out and that I'm just
22:05but what if it was somebody 10 times, you know better at hitting
22:09long ball.
22:09That's more established in him.
22:12I just don't understand why you can't see why if my name is Matt
22:17Steinmetz and I hit 45 home runs last year as a Yankee.
22:21Why would I even consider coming here and I hope you know that
22:26I'm trying to give you parks harder.
22:28The team is not good.
22:31Maybe you don't like the West Coast.
22:34Maybe you don't like the taxes.
22:36I'm just saying to ignore the things that are staring you in
22:41the face, you know, I've not asked being strong.
22:43I'm not acknowledging that the ballpark doesn't have anything
22:46to do with it, but it's not what you can't say why they're not
22:49coming.
22:49There is no 100%.
22:51It's going to be a variety of reasons for each player.
22:55And the problem is there are way too many reasons not to come
23:00here.
23:00Then all you have to do is find one, but there are there are
23:04countless of them.
23:07I Pete you hit the nail on the head.
23:09It's a pitchers Park build with pitching and defense or how
23:13about speed?
23:14Why isn't this team faster?
23:20It's got to take something.
23:24Out of the ordinary somebody or out of the ordinary.
23:27That's the way to get out of this.
23:31David Hernandez on the YouTube.
23:33Stony hit the nail on the head.
23:34I don't agree, but I like I'm not.
23:38No, because you're you think that the San Francisco Giants
23:42are a preeminent franchise in Major League Baseball.
23:45That's the other thing you need to get out of your head.
23:46Everybody.
23:47They're not.
