Giants Are Going Through NORMAL Dynasty Downturn?

00:04What does a World Series ten years ago have to do with building a team now?
00:10I feel like I typed it.

00:14Now I just gave you three examples of dynasties in the Bay where after the dynasty there were
00:22dry spells of about a decade.
00:25I gotta go through it again.
00:26After the A's won three, they went to the playoffs, then they went twice in 12 years.
00:33The San Francisco 49ers, after their last Super Bowl, went to the playoffs just twice
00:38in 12 years.
00:40And now the Giants, after their last World Series, have gone to the postseason twice
00:45in nine years.
00:46This would be the 10th.
00:49And to me, the Warriors are still on the brink.
00:52Here's what I believe.
00:57There's a pattern, and it's this.
01:00You win a title with a core, then what do you do?
01:05You keep the core around too long.
01:11Then you start to lose with your core that had won for you before, but they're older
01:18and they're no longer a championship-type team.
01:22Then what you do is they eventually leave.
01:26But at that point, your quality has diminished because these were the guys who held up their
01:33end of the bargain for 10 years.
01:36And so you're starting from scratch.
01:39And when you start from scratch, there are no guarantees.
01:42Then you get into a cycle where you start to lose, and then, yes, unfortunately, nobody
01:50wants to come because you've started to lose.
01:53And you're no longer a marquee franchise, and the guys who brought you to that level
01:58— Posey, Crawford, Baumgartner, Lincecum, Kane, Sanchez, all the rest — they're gone.
02:04And so there's no longer an allure with the team.
02:08That to me is why — there may be different details — but that's why, after a dynasty,
02:20it can't just be a coincidence that that has now happened to the last three Bay Area teams
02:27that have had a dynasty.
02:28That's all I'm saying.
02:29It can't be a coincidence.
02:31But I would tell you, Stony, life is bigger than where we're at, just in the Bay.
02:35And I'm not mad at those examples, but when you bring in all the other teams, then you
02:42kind of get away from the point you're trying to hammer home.
02:46My whole thing is, nobody is taking a job, no regime is taking over, getting that credit
02:53card of, hey, we had a dynasty with our past regime, we're just going to let you skate,
02:58it doesn't matter, we're not going to hold anybody accountable, we're going to ignore
03:02the misses in the draft and things of that nature.
03:06The Giants have had opportunity, and if you're telling me that you're going to buy Farhan
03:11not being able or being dealt a bad hand, the city of San — the lovely city of San
03:16Francisco missed me with that.
03:19He's been in front, he's — the guys, the free agents have taken meetings, and if there
03:24was a Bob Myers or the Michael Jordan of mouthpieces, maybe those deals are closed and we're talking
03:30about something different.
03:32But I will say this about Luciano, because I can't get over it.
03:36We saw Jordan Bell, and we know the Warriors were winning then, so it was a long shot for
03:41him to pop, but we saw enough of Jordan Bell to say, you know what, and Eric Paschal, you
03:46know what, Stiney, he don't have the goods.
03:49They're not in the league anymore.
03:51I do not feel that way about Luciano.
03:54I have not seen enough of him.
03:56Well, what if they have?

04:02Because you need to see more of Wiseman to know the kid couldn't play.

04:18So when you follow up and say, hey, Goo, what if they — I don't trust they, because they
04:23are the reason there's no hey.
04:26And if you're going to tell me there's no hey because of what happened in 14, I'll give
04:30you that, Stiney, but that's just — that's not how it works.
