00:00We don't have the ha ha. Now back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game. All right coming up in 40
00:07minutes at 11 o'clock Ross Tucker, Odyssey, NFL Insider. At noon we're going to take a close look
00:14at Brock Purdy, his performance from Sunday, Purdy prognosis and then at one o'clock we'll get into
00:21some sounds of the week and Evan compiled a bunch of great stuff again. We'll see.
00:25That's the leader in the clubhouse. Trust me, yeah. Trust me it's going to be good.
00:33You know, let me ask you this, Guru. Do you think coming into the season, 49ers had Super Bowl
00:40aspirations, right? Right. All right. You think the Cincinnati Bengals had Super Bowl aspirations
00:45coming into the year? Yeah. Yeah, I think so, right? Sure. But we could do a deep dive and
00:52ask which one was a stretch. The Niners wasn't because they were just there. Well, maybe it is
00:59a stretch. Take a listen. This is Joe Burrow after the Bengals lost to the Ravens. We're not a
01:05championship level team right now. We're not. You know, I like to think that, you know, we'll come
01:13back and improve throughout the season to get to that point. But right now we are not and we have
01:18to get better. Obviously, you can't play defense. So do you guys as an offense view this as the way
01:24that you're playing? You're going to have to keep scoring as many points as you are to be able to
01:28give your guys a chance, yourself a chance to win each game? We're going to have to do more. We're
01:33going to have to do whatever it takes to win. And, you know, so far three out of four games,
01:38we haven't done enough. So, you know, I'll put that on me. I'll put that on us to go and finish
01:47when we get our opportunities to whenever you're one in four and whenever you're in this situation,
01:51there's going to be tough conversations to be had that guys aren't going to like.
01:54And those conversations have been had. So I'm happy with how we're going about it. We obviously
01:59have to win more. That's no secret. All right. So that's Joe Burrow saying we're not a we're
02:05not championship team right now. Buffalo also got beat on Sunday. They came into the year with
02:11Super Bowl aspirations. Let's take a listen to what Josh Allen said about what's going on in
02:16Buffalo right now. Well, it starts with making better decisions on my part. And I know didn't
02:21didn't complete the ball at a high rate tonight, put the ball in harm's way, especially early in
02:25that first half. But I trust our guys. I know you guys are going to be wild this week, but
02:34love my guys and we're going to keep working. And, you know, this isn't a defining moment
02:38in our season. You know, it's a chance to learn and grow from this. And that's what we're going
02:41to do. All right. So that's Josh Allen. Does it feel like the forty niners are saying that right
02:50now? No, I agree. They are not. I agree with you. Right. They I keep hearing the forty niners saying
02:58that, you know, we got to be better. But has anybody said this is not going to work? No,
03:07not at all. And Fred Warner's even called their play unacceptable, you know, things like that,
03:12which I appreciate. No. So here's here's what I was thinking about this. So the forty niners are
03:20supposed to that. Just bear with me for a sec here. Forty nine is supposed to be the class of
03:24the NFC, right? Check coming into the air. They're the favorites, right? They're the bullies in the
03:29NFC. OK. So. Before the season. Teams have to talk to the league about their uniforms for the
03:42season. All right. All right. And my alley, the San Francisco forty niners told the league that
03:47in October. They're going to wear their red jerseys at home, OK? It's been decided well
03:54before the season takes place. So on Monday. The Niners see that it's going to be a hundred
04:00degrees. I saw it all week. They petitioned the league. To wear their white uniforms.
04:10So that the Cardinals would have to be in their red uniform. Right. On a hot day. Got you.
04:16Does that sound like what a championship team does?
04:19Does it sound like what a championship team does? Hey, league, it's going to be really hot in the
04:25bay on Sunday. I know we're the forty niners and we're the best team in the NFC, but we want to
04:32wear our white jerseys. Now, bad luck. No, that's no pun intended. And it's not. It's also
04:42you're you're also making the you're asking the Cardinals wear the red. You know what I mean? So
04:48I guess if if a Cardinal player would have, you know, had heat exhaustion, would have been OK.
04:54Wow. Come on, you're the you're the San Francisco forty niners. Yeah, go ahead. And you're acting
05:00like an underdog wanting to wear white jerseys at home. Now, you know, you know why we know I
05:07love you for this. And I said that to you guys. But teams do this, though. But they don't. They
05:13don't. Listen, why I'm giving you the win is championship teams at home should need to stoop
05:20to this level. I didn't think of it until you just brought it up. It does reek of desperate
05:26desperation. The fact that they knew it was going to be hot. But the other right on the table is
05:32maybe this offseason just as a whole, they're not in shape. Maybe maybe that's why Baldi told
05:37Bonte and Butch right now the identity of the San Francisco forty niners right now,
05:43twenty twenty four through five games. Sonny, get this. I'm I'm going slow mo. I'm going slow mo,
05:52Stiney. OK, he called them slow. And I'm just like like I can't be mad or dispute that answer.
06:00But think about that. They were just in the Super Bowl in February in Nevada. Now we're slow.
06:06Here's the bottom line. Not y'all are overanalyzing the jersey color thing.
06:14No, no. Do winning teams take every advantage they can? Yes. That's not taking advantage.
06:20That's petitioning the league to change something because it's going to be hot.
06:25Exactly. And I'll just say it like this. We didn't even talk about that. Real players
06:30and people that do what we do. And I've even heard it by Davis. I don't even want to talk
06:35about the weather. Both teams had to play in it. We're not a championship level team right now.
06:42Boy. And again, we like we were talking about IUK and the IUK contract. And I thought I don't
06:48think it's a great contract, but OK, they they overpaid IUK. All right. Can they
06:53under deliver? Can they overcome it? Yeah, probably. They probably can. They got a lot
06:58of talent. And how big of a deal is the jersey thing? Probably not that big a deal. But.
07:07You know what? If you have the bucket, it's to a team. No doubt. It's a bad message to the
07:11to your own team. Right. Seriously. Yeah. And I get it, Stani. I'd normally fight you on that.
07:18But the Buccaneers do things like that. You know what I'm saying? The Colts.
07:22But I know they play indoors, but I was thrown. I was like, wow.
07:27And how does the second half go the way it did? I'm asking you, Stani,
07:32would Connor and that offensive line ever ran roughshod on the Niners?
07:36Had they been in their red uniforms? No, I believe that would have played out the same way.
07:43And I just thought about that, man. That's all. Jim Olay says, don't forget the black jerseys.
07:48Remember that? They were wearing the black ones years ago. We can't. Jim said exactly,
07:52Stani. Last year, the Niners, last year's Niners teams would have petitioned to wear black.
07:56Yeah. In the hot weather. I don't know about that, but it's just something that
08:02to me, it's an incongruity. It's an incongruity for a Super Bowl champ.
08:09Do you have the Richard Sherman, Stani? Ask him how worried he is or panicked about the Niners,
08:14because to me, this is a guy, he loves his Niners, right? And I'm always like,
08:19Richard, always given the home, this is me, given the hometown outlook, but he came with this one.
08:26My panic meter's at a 10. It's at 11. It's panic mode because these are two unacceptable
08:31division losses to the bottom dwellers of your division. This team here just coming off of 28
08:36point draw being to the Washington Commanders. And you're like, hey, we should be able to look
08:40at that tape and find answers and be able to win this game. But you're not. You're not winning this
08:44game. And you're the more talented team walking into the stadium each and every time. And you
08:49could talk about the injuries. You could talk about the heat. We could make excuses, but these
08:53are the games you've got to dominate. And they're not dominating. I mean, outcoached them, outplayed
08:57them, out-efforted them, outran them. It's just, it's tough. It's tough to watch. It was tough to
09:01watch this game, especially in the second half. Brandon Aiyu finally gets to shine. But now we
09:06turn the ball over three times. You know, it's like you fix one problem, something else breaks.
09:10And that seems to be the luck of the draw this season with the San Francisco 49ers.
09:15Speaking of something breaking. Yeah.
09:18Gonna have to get 10 Jordan in here. Spadoni just saw it. Yeah.
09:21How many is that for you in your career? Probably three.
09:23Oh, that's right. This is the first one at the new station.
09:26Happened to me last time. Oh boy, Spadoni with the honesty.
09:29Hey, I'll say this to something you just said before you got a call.
09:33Listen, man, I know it's about things you get, you get off to a rough start and you got to move
09:39the goalpost, but I'm sorry. A guy like me is being true and honest right here. I thought the
09:46Niners and still do. I'm holding them to their standard NFC championship at minimum. But if
09:53you're going to sell me now, Stony on, Oh, everything's okay in Niner land, we can win
09:58the division. Then something's gone wrong. But if you tell me, okay, in January, when the playoffs
10:05start, that all of a sudden you're going to get green law back and you're going to hit your stride.
10:10That's a different story. But right now for you or anybody to say, Hey, it's the division. Now
10:17I think you're ignoring the rat on the table, which is what lackluster play on both sides of the ball
10:23and coaching.
