00:00:54live on this program, to answer the call from the WCW Championship Committee.

00:01:02If he wants it, he will get the title shot at Superbrawl 7 on February 23rd,

00:01:08live at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.

00:01:11Piper will be here tonight, and

00:01:13Hogan wasting no time coming out and getting center ring here, Larry.

00:01:17Now, obviously, he's got something to say, we'll find out.

00:01:20But again, Piper will be here in the $64,000.

00:01:24Question is, what is Rowdy Roddy Piper going to say when he gets here?

00:01:55that would crumble the new world order.

00:02:02Well, you can't deny that he looks in tremendous condition.

00:02:05You can't deny Piper put him to sleep, too.

00:03:44one-legged Pete, the crippled kid, was gonna be here at Nitro tonight.

00:03:53So I talked with Trillionaire Ted, and I talked with Vince.

00:03:59And me being a man of honor, and me being a man of my word,

00:04:05I said, if Rowdy Roddy Piper is in Memphis, Tennessee tonight,

00:04:11that I would confront him because I'm tired of the lies, I'm tired of the backlash.

00:04:20And I want Rowdy Roddy Piper to admit that I'm the better man

00:04:25than I beat him in the ring, and since he's gonna be here tonight,

00:04:30I, Hollywood Hogan, will put the NWO title on the line.

00:04:37Yeah, and if Rowdy Roddy Piper has the guts enough to come out here,

00:04:43the moment I see Piper get in the building,

00:04:47the moment he arrives, Hollywood Hogan,

00:04:52I'm gonna embarrass Piper all the way into the ring,

00:04:57put the NWO belt on the line, and then I'm gonna beat him right

00:05:03in the middle, just like I did the last time.

00:05:07So the way it goes is no matter how you put it,

00:05:13Roddy Piper promised his one, yeah,

00:05:18three fans out there that he'd be here.

00:05:24So when he gets here, I'm gonna crucify him,

00:05:28I'm gonna put the title on the line, and

00:06:06Tony Schiavone, the living legend, Larry Zbysko, Hulk Hogan came out and

00:06:10said when Piper gets here,

00:06:12he will put the title on the line against him here tonight.

00:06:16Very big talk because Hollywood Hulk Hogan realizes that Piper's not here in

00:06:21the arena, he'll be coming a little bit later on, Larry.

00:06:24Well, the magnitude of the announcement was outrageous.

00:06:26I mean, putting the title up right here tonight,

00:06:29we know that Piper is on his way, he is going to be here.

00:06:33So he has no choice, Tony, we're gonna have to match tonight.

00:06:37I tell you, we are gonna get an answer one way or the other from Roddy,

00:06:40Roddy Piper, the championship committee said a week ago.

00:06:43Will you accept the title match at Super Brawl?

00:06:46Roddy Piper, hopefully tonight, will say yes.

00:06:50Great action as well, let's go to the ring on WCW Monday Nitro.

00:06:54Because later on tonight, the totem package, Lex Luthor,

00:06:58go one on one against Jeff Jeff, Chris Benoit.

00:07:01Later on tonight, we'll go one on one against Konnan of the Dungeon of Doom.

00:07:07Glacier is here, Ice Train has been red hot in our sport.

00:07:11Harlem Heat against the Steiner Brothers.

00:07:14And yes, we anxiously await the arrival of Roddy, Roddy Piper and Hogan.

00:07:19And Larry, let me tell you this, has been just coming out with the lies,

00:07:24right and left, laying them out, back and forth, right and left.

00:07:28We know, you fans know, that Piper beat Hogan at Starrcade.

00:07:33But the one thing that gives Hogan the reason to go in the ring,

00:07:39and tell the pack of lies that he tells, is that world title belt.

00:07:43But he still has the belt, that is the ultimate prize in professional wrestling.

00:07:52No doubt about it, somebody has to take it away.

00:07:55Piper proved to the world, he's the man that can do it.

00:07:59No matter what Hollywood says, he was put fast asleep by Roddy,

00:08:04Roddy could easily do it again, Tony.

00:08:07I can't wait to hear what Piper has to say.

00:08:09I know you said, I guess that means that if Piper shows up,

00:08:11we're gonna have a match here tonight, Piper and Hogan.

00:08:13Well, I can tell you this, Hogan is the biggest liar the sport has ever seen.

00:08:18And you know as well as I know, that he realizes what happened at Starrcade.

00:08:23And I think when Piper shows up, you're not gonna see him at all.

00:08:27Well, he did make the comment, we're gonna do it NWO style.

00:08:29Which tells me, he's gonna have about 50 rats hiding in different

00:08:36corners like Scott Hall and Nash and Sixx.

00:08:40The former Cruiserweight Champion, The Ultimo Dragon and

00:08:42Rey Mendoza Jr. from Mexico.

00:08:45In the opening bout here, two great cruiserweights.

00:08:48Mendoza's shoulder block with a handspring.

00:08:50And Mendoza goes to the bottom rope to the floor.

00:08:52I tell you, The Ultimo Dragon, this guy is terrific.

00:08:55The guy that combined all the cruiserweights together.

00:08:58Mendoza hit the rail.

00:09:01Mendoza staggering backwards that time.

00:09:03The back of the head and the shoulders hit that steel safety rail here.

00:09:07We are at the Mid-South Coliseum, a capacity crowd on hand.

00:09:11Sonny Ono has come out with The Ultimo Dragon.

00:09:14Of course, they wanna get that Cruiserweight Championship back.

00:09:16But to do that, Larry, you gotta go through the mighty Dean Malenko.

00:09:19Dean Malenko, and give Sonny Ono credit.

00:09:21He's got the right man, no doubt in my book.

00:09:23The Ultimo Dragon has got to be the number one contender and

00:09:26at least the number one feared man by Malenko.

00:09:30So you can see why this guy's so aggressive, so determined.

00:09:34He wants to get that belt back.

00:09:36Two count in it.

00:09:38Only a two count as Mendoza gets out of it.

00:09:39This past weekend, we did find out, thanks to Mr. and

00:09:43Ms. Sandy Murray, that the Gaelic interpretation of what Rodney Piper was

00:09:47saying the last time, here's a cover here, one, two, the last time we saw him on

00:09:51Nitro was the battle is not over until you get home.

00:09:55And that was kind of a loose interpretation.

00:09:57But I think what it means, even though he said it was his last match,

00:10:01is the battle is not over until he says it's over.

00:10:05Arm drag kick in again, Mendoza with a running leg.

00:10:09Well, we can speculate all we want.

00:10:11Piper is going to be here, and that will take care of all questions.

00:10:15What he was mumbling before means nothing.

00:10:17What he says tonight means everything.

00:10:19It means everything to all of us, to fans of World Championship Wrestling, and

00:10:23to this great, wonderful sport that we've come to love over the years,

00:10:26professional wrestling.

00:10:58He went right back into the corner, which is good, but he stayed there too long.

00:11:02And right here, the Ultimo Dragon, he can nail you from anywhere in the air.

00:11:07My goodness, his move off the top, a Frankensteiner type maneuver.

00:11:19Well, he made that look easy, and that's not an easy maneuver.

00:11:27But the caliber of athlete the Ultimo Dragon is, he makes them all look easy.

00:11:32The former J-Crown champion, at one time, the man owned nine belts.

00:11:37He doesn't have them right now, but he is still a top caliber competitor

00:11:41in the Cruiserweight division in World Championship Wrestling.

00:11:52He saw Mendoza Jr. duck the move, but he came right back.

00:12:04This maneuver, double butterfly, look at the chicken wing,

00:12:07just snapped him right back.

00:12:08All the weights on his shoulder, Ultimo Dragon, number one contender and

00:12:12number one threat for Dean Milenko.

00:12:14You know Hulk Hogan is here, members of the NWO are here, and still to come

00:12:51And also, in this program, Rowdy Roddy Piper returns to Nitro for

00:12:56the first time since the 30th of December when he was carried out by EMTs

00:13:02at the hands of the New World Order, Larry.

00:13:04And again, the world is just anxiously waiting for what Roddy Piper has to say.

00:13:10We hope it's good news and the translation from his Gaelic mumbling

00:13:16adds up to what you say it does.

00:13:18It sounds to me like he's got no choice but to announce good news.

00:13:23Glacier makes his arrival here to Nitro in this next matchup here on TNT.

00:13:29You know, if Piper says yes and

00:13:31agrees to take the world title matchup at Superbrawl 7,

00:13:35coming up on the 23rd of this month in San Francisco.

00:13:38It is going to only add to what right now is a monumental part in our sport.

00:13:43Because when we left you a week ago on this program, Lex Luger came to the ring.

00:13:49He stood side-by-side of The Giant.

00:13:50We weren't sure of Luger's motives at that time.

00:13:53But this weekend, we found out that Lex Luger and The Giant will be together as

00:13:58a tag team against the Outsiders, Hall and

00:14:01Nash for the World Tag Team Championship at Superbrawl 7.

00:14:04And can you imagine the fear that went through the hearts of Hall and

00:14:10Nash and Bischoff when they made that announcement?

00:14:17Lex Luger and The Giant, my book, they're gonna be an unbeatable combination.

00:14:22You know, I said it this weekend on all of our television programs,

00:14:25I will repeat myself once again.

00:14:27I feel right now, and you gotta go all the way back to the night that Piper

00:14:31put Hogan asleep.

00:14:32We haven't been able to show it to you on Nitro.

00:14:35You saw last week how Bischoff destroyed the tape.

00:14:39But I think from that point, and now the fact that Giant is teaming with Luger,

00:14:43WCW is rebounding.

00:14:45World Championship Wrestling is getting stronger in its efforts against

00:14:49the New World Order week by week, day by day, Larry.

00:14:52Yeah, and the New World Order is getting more and more dissension.

00:14:55We've had a defector, The Giant.

00:14:58We've seen Bischoff freak out and rip up a videotape.

00:15:02These guys are losing control, Tony.

00:15:05And when the announcement of The Giant and Luger was made,

00:15:08these guys have had to come close to coronary arrest.

00:15:12Okay, great cruiserweight in Billy Kidman.

00:15:14And of course, the immensely popular and

00:15:17multi-talented Glacier here in this next matchup.

00:15:21Well, multi-talented, that's the key.

00:15:22This guy's got unique combinations of styles.

00:15:25And Billy Kidman, who's a victim of the power plant,

00:15:29doesn't have quite the worldwide type of experience that Glacier does,

00:15:33nor the combination of styles.

00:15:34Look at that leg sweep.

00:15:35That was picture perfect.

00:15:37Picture perfect after the kip up, the leg sweep.

00:15:40And Glacier lets Billy Kidman know he is one up on him right now.

00:15:43You have to really approach your match in an entirely different way when you have

00:15:46to face Glacier.

00:15:48Billy Kidman, that was a great go behind one, showing his quickness.

00:15:51Of course, Billy Kidman has used that shooting star

00:15:53apprentice of his with a lot of success in our sport.

00:15:56Here's a pick up by Glacier.

00:15:58How about that?

00:15:59Almost like a tilt-a-whirl slam that time.

00:16:01And a running leg by Glacier.

00:16:03Now, you're seeing some of the professional wrestling expertise he's

00:16:08developed over the last couple of months.

00:16:10Well, he exploded into that move.

00:16:11I think if you'd wrestle Glacier, you'd have to get the man on the mat on his feet.

00:16:16He's just leaping.

00:16:19I mean, look at those blows.

00:16:20Open palm thrust into the solar plexus.

00:16:22Tony, that's not far from a death blow.

00:16:26Look at that kick.

00:16:27Kidman in the back and then on the head that time.

00:16:30Follows Kidman in, tumbled through the back elbow, sent Kidman on the outside.

00:16:35The Glacier's got great balance.

00:16:37He's even standing there with his feet spread apart as center of gravity planted

00:16:43and just used that weight to nail Kidman right out.

00:16:46If you have good balance, you've got to have to battle one.

00:16:50On the 29th of December, and Roddy, look at that head scissor takeover

00:16:54from outside in by Billy Kidman.

00:16:56Piper proved to the world that he could defeat and did defeat Hulk Hogan.

00:17:01Now, he has the opportunity, if he wants it, to take it all a step further.

00:17:05Outstanding side kick.

00:17:08Nicely done.

00:17:09Off of the ropes that time as Kidman came off, and he puts him out with a 1, 2, 3.

00:17:14He got him.

00:17:15Boy, he nailed him right smack in the jaw.

00:17:18Talk about extension of a side kick.

00:17:21Glacier had it.

00:17:22The only reason he was unable to knock Kidman like that was he maintained his balance.

00:17:28You know, something I think we're seeing also in Glacier now,

00:17:31he's developed this over the past couple of months,

00:17:33is the fact that he's a lot more confident in the ring.

00:17:36Feels more comfortable, looks more comfortable as well, Larry.

00:17:39Well, that's just the nature of any sport.

00:17:40The more you do it, the more confidence you have.

00:17:42When you have 100% confidence in yourself,

00:17:46when you believe yourself to be undefeatable,

00:17:50then you can qualify as a professional.

00:17:52Piper has got to have that feeling of being undefeatable in the presence of Hogan,

00:17:58and I can't wait to hear what he has to say.

00:21:27Very exciting moment that I had a chance to be a part of last week

00:21:31in making the announcement that the championship committee is giving Piper

00:21:36the world title shot against Hogan at Super Brawl.

00:21:39If you watch it, let me say this.

00:21:41Hogan came out here earlier and said, how in the world

00:21:44could the WCW executive committee do something like this?

00:21:48The answer is, because it is still a WCW world title, Larry.

00:21:52It's a WCW world title.

00:21:54And with the victory over Hulk Hogan by Roddy Piper,

00:21:58it makes him the automatic number one contender.

00:22:00I mean, you don't need a brain surgeon to figure that out.

00:22:03It just tells me Hogan is afraid of Piper, period.

00:22:08And we'll lie about it.

00:22:09The pack of lies we've heard.

00:22:11If Piper can secure the belt, first of all, if he says yes tonight,

00:22:14and then can secure the belt, Hogan will have no bragging piece to come out here and

00:22:19lie about each and every week like he's been doing.

00:22:23Not only that, but the World Tag Team Championships,

00:22:26which should be on the Steiner Brothers.

00:22:27They're coming up later.

00:22:29And talk about two irate Steiners.

00:23:59And so far, he's gaining some ground on Ice Train.
