00:00:33Charleston, and the Civic Center Coliseum, welcome to WCW Monday Nitro.

00:00:48We begin with the Nitro Girls.

00:01:21All right, Kimberly and the Nitro Girls are out, and look at this crowd if you will, fans.

00:01:41I thought it was the New World Order.

00:01:44Along with the living legend Larry Zbysko and Iron Mike Tenei,

00:01:48welcome to our number one, and what a program we have for you live here tonight.

00:01:55We are going to begin, gentlemen, with quite a tag team match,

00:01:59but already in this arena, we got here, Mike, earlier today,

00:02:03a lot of talk about some sort of announcement or something coming out about the world heavyweight title.

00:02:10We're not so sure what it's about, but there's a lot of speculation,

00:02:14a lot of excitement in the arena here tonight.

00:02:17It's funny, it's been the talk of the locker room all afternoon.

00:02:20There's a major announcement coming up sometime in Nitro.

00:02:24You're right, it concerns the world heavyweight championship.

00:02:27We don't know if it concerns Hollywood Hogan, the challenge that was accepted from Lex Luger,

00:02:32but we will definitely find out tonight the ramifications of that major announcement.

00:02:37Well, as you look at Buff Bangwell and Scott Norton of the NWO,

00:02:40we do know that on the 9th of August, on a Saturday night,

00:02:44Bikers Dream Ultra Custom Cycles presents Road Wild,

00:02:47the event only on pay-per-view, where, of course,

00:02:49Hogan accepted the challenge from Luger for the world title.

00:02:53What that announcement will be later on this program, we're not sure,

00:02:56but you hear the roar, Larry Zbysko and the fans,

00:02:59and when you look at this duo making their way to the ring.

00:03:04Here we go, Ric Flair, master of that human game of chess.

00:03:08He's going down with Kurt Henninger.

00:03:11Is he recruiting Henning into the Four Horsemen? What's the story on this?

00:03:15Well, let's not forget, one week ago on this program,

00:03:18Flair was going to make the big announcement of the newest member of the Horsemen.

00:03:26I told you I would deliver.

00:03:29Kurt Henninger!

00:03:32But we did spy Ric Flair talking to Kurt Henninger in the back,

00:03:36so we can only assume right now that Kurt Henninger has said yes,

00:03:39and he's a member of the Horsemen by today.

00:03:41Well, remember that Flair said, I don't want to be embarrassed.

00:03:44If I ask you to join the Horsemen the next time in front of the public,

00:03:47I want you to be with me.

00:03:49The way I see Flair and Henninger in the ring, I think it's a done deal.

00:03:53I think Henninger is part of the Horsemen.

00:03:55Well, Henninger's always talking about him being a free agent now,

00:03:58but I haven't heard anything definite whether he's a Horseman or not.

00:04:02Is this a trial?

00:04:03We've not heard anything, but we are seeing a lot here.

00:04:29Like we said, some major announcement to happen during the course of this program

00:04:39Henning will begin things with Scott Norton, and one thing he does not want to do,

00:04:43and you can see the example right there,

00:04:45and that is try to match power for power with Scott Norton.

00:04:48Yeah, man, I'm disappointed.

00:04:50You can see Buffy Bagwell selling his soul

00:04:53and joining the cowards of the New World Order.

00:04:56Scott Norton, however, he was a man I thought was an individualist,

00:04:59someone who had the guts to stand on his two feet.

00:05:02Obviously, he doesn't have it.

00:05:04I guess we can draw one conclusion.

00:05:06Kurt Henning is not going to be associated with the NWO.

00:05:10He's going right into the battle with Ric Flair.

00:05:20and there's the power you were talking about, Larry.

00:05:22Well, yeah, again, and Henning should know better

00:05:24not to attack Norton in that upper body.

00:05:33Be interesting to see how they gel or mesh as a tag team.

00:06:56And he and Scott Norton have been such an impressive tag team

00:06:59since they were aligned in the NWO, unbeaten in the Orient,

00:07:03and in World Championship Wrestling,

00:07:06really making major strides as a tag team.

00:07:09One major stride there by Henning.

00:07:11Flair, he's getting up, but he's getting up slow,

00:07:13and he's at the wrong corner.

00:07:17And Bagwell looked over towards Henning

00:07:19and now goes back to the attack.

00:07:20That gave Flair the opportunity.

00:09:08trying her best to keep Flair away from hitting.

00:09:11And boy, Bagwell just nailed him again.

00:09:13This is gonna be a night of major announcements.

00:09:15The news that Tony just laid on us

00:09:17about J.J. Dillon and a contract offer for Sting,

00:09:20plus the rumors that have been prevalent all afternoon.

00:09:23A major announcement concerning

00:09:24the World Heavyweight Championship

00:09:26later in this broadcast.

00:09:28Remember what Hogan said last week.

00:09:30The NWO title is the most precious thing in my life.

00:09:33A major announcement about the World's title belt tonight.

00:10:27the Giant against the Macho Man, Randy Savage,

00:10:30and the Steiners

00:10:32going up against the Outsiders

00:10:34for the World Tag Title.

00:10:38Bagwell came in, and he was ready to tag Flair

00:10:42just a couple feet short.

00:11:18against Randy Savage, the Macho Man.

00:11:21And you're talking about a big event.

00:11:30right now it seems as though

00:11:32Scott Norton and Doug Bagwell

00:11:34are dominating the matchup?

00:11:41as far as I'm concerned,

00:11:42going after Norton, you know,

00:11:43against his strength and power.

00:11:48Well, the big advantage for the team

00:11:49of Norton and Bagwell has to simply be

00:11:51the fact that they have been a team

00:11:53for the past few months,

00:11:54working readily where Flair and Hennig

00:11:56don't have that advantage.

00:11:58We are seeing Flair and Hennig together.

00:12:02Flair chopping Norton against the chest.

00:21:31using that high cross body block

00:21:33but it's gonna be tough

00:21:34for him to wear dragon down

00:21:42I think Ayaka came out

00:21:43with that idea

00:21:44of a nice offense,

00:21:46he doesn't have the experience,

00:21:48and it's showing through

00:21:49right here.

00:21:52and has you vulnerable,

00:21:54those rapid fire kicks.

00:21:56As you saw moments ago,

00:21:57that can be the prelude

00:21:58to the dragon sleeper,

00:21:59one of the most talented wrestlers

00:22:01we've ever seen in WCW.

00:22:02He is the television champ,

00:22:04and that is the ultimate dragon.
