00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:19The Lord be with you.
00:20Good morning everybody.
00:21Sorry we're a bit late this morning, had some technical difficulties and I think they're
00:28sorted now, I hope so anyway.
00:31So let us stand in God's presence now for a moment and thank him for the beautiful things
00:36that he's gifted us with, and take a moment to confidently but humbly ask his pardon.
00:44Lord, sometimes we can take your very precious gift of life for granted, Lord have mercy.
00:54And Lord, sometimes we can take this beautiful world that you've created for us for granted,
01:01Christ have mercy.
01:04And Lord, sometimes in our selfishness we can take one another for granted, Lord have
01:10mercy.
01:12May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting.
01:18Let us pray, almighty and ever-living God, whom, taught by the Holy Spirit, we dare to
01:26call our Father, bring we pray to perfection in our hearts, the spirit of adoption as your
01:34sons and daughters, that we may merit to enter into the inheritance which you have promised.
01:40We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
01:47And in the readings today, we follow along with the prophet Ezekiel and with Yahweh God,
01:59giving him the wisdom by way of a very picturesque scroll being eaten, giving him the gifts to prophesy.
02:15I, Ezekiel, heard a voice speaking and it said, you son of man, listen to the words I say.
02:25Do not be a rebel like the rebellious set, open your mouth and eat what I'm about to give you.
02:33And I looked, a hand was there stretching out to me and holding a scroll.
02:41He unrolled it in front of me and it was written both in the back and the front.
02:47On it was written, lamentations, wailings, moanings.
02:53And he said, son of man, eat what is given to you.
02:57Eat this scroll and then go and speak to the house of Israel.
03:03So I opened my mouth, gave him the scroll to eat and said, son of man, feed and be satisfied by the
03:10scroll I'm giving you.
03:13So I ate it and it tasted sweet as honey.
03:18And then he said, son of man, go to the house of Israel and tell them what I've said.
03:26The word of the Lord.
03:29And the response to the psalm today is, how sweet to my taste is your promise.
03:36How sweet to my taste is your promise.
03:41I reduced to do your will as though all riches were mine.
03:44Your will is my delight.
03:46Your statutes are my counsels.
03:50How sweet to my taste is your promise.
03:55The law from your mouth means more to me than silver and gold.
03:59Your promise is sweeter to my taste than honey in the mouth.
04:04How sweet to my taste is your promise.
04:08Your will is my heritage forever.
04:10The joy of my heart.
04:12I open my mouth and I sigh as I yearn for your commands.
04:17How sweet to my taste is your promise.
04:21And we greet the gospel.
04:23Hallelujah.
04:24Hallelujah.
04:25Take my yoke upon you.
04:27Learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart.
04:32Hallelujah.
04:37The Lord be with you.
04:39A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:45The disciples came to Jesus and said, who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
04:53So Jesus called a little child to him and set the child in front of him.
04:58Then he said, I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children,
05:07you'll never enter the kingdom of heaven.
05:11And so the one who makes himself as little as this little child
05:17is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
05:22Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
05:28See that you never despise any of these little ones.
05:32For I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.
05:40Tell me, suppose a man had a hundred sheep and one of them strays.
05:47Will he not leave the ninety nine in the hillside and go in search of the stray?
05:52I tell you solemnly, if he finds it,
05:55it gives him more joy than do the ninety nine that didn't stray at all.
06:01Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.
06:13The Gospel of the Lord.
06:23Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness, we have received the bread we offer you.
06:27Bread of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.
06:34By the midst of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
06:40who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
06:50Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness, we have received the wine we offer you.
06:54Bread of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.
07:00Lord God, we ask you to receive us in the pleasure of the sacrifice we offer you with humble and contrite hearts.
07:06Lord, wash away my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin.
07:16We pray now, my brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
07:23Let the Lord accept this sacrifice at your hands, in the praise and glory of his name.
07:27For our good and the good of all his holy Church.
07:30Be pleased, O Lord, to accept the offerings of your Church, for in your mercy you have given them to be offered,
07:39and by your power you have transformed them into the mystery of our salvation.
07:46And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
07:50The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts.
07:54Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:57It is truly right and just our duty in our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord,
08:02Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word,
08:09through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Saviour and our Redeemer,
08:13incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary,
08:17fulfilling your will and gaining for your holy people.
08:20Be stretched at his hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection.
08:28And so, with the angels and saints, we declare your glory, as with one voice we proclaim.
08:35Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts,
08:39heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
08:43Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
08:51You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
08:55Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
09:01so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
09:06At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread.
09:11And giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:15Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you.
09:36In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice.
09:48Once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:51Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood,
09:56the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many,
10:02for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
10:23The mystery of faith.
10:25When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
10:32Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
10:36we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks
10:41that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and to minister to you.
10:45Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
10:49we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:54Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world.
10:57Bring her to the folds of charity, together with Francis, our Pope, Charles, our Bishop,
11:04all the clergy, and the whole of God's people.
11:08Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the Resurrection,
11:14and all who have died in your mercy.
11:17Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:22Have mercy on us all, we pray, with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
11:26St. Joseph, her Spouse, the Blessed Apostles, and all the Saints
11:29who have pleased you throughout the ages.
11:32We may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life,
11:36and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
11:43Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father,
11:47in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, forever and ever.
11:55Let us pray together now the beautiful prayer
11:58that Jesus himself taught us to pray as a family.
12:02Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
12:07Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
12:12Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
12:17as we forgive those who trespass against us.
12:21And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
12:25Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
12:27Graciously grant peace in our day, and by the help of your mercy,
12:32may we be always free from sin, and safe from all distress,
12:37as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
12:42For the kingdom, and the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.
12:46Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles,
12:48peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
12:52look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
12:57and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
13:02to live and reign forever and ever.
13:04The peace of the Lord be with you always.
13:08Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
13:10Peace now, where we might be. Peace.
13:14Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
13:22Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
13:26Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
13:32Lord Jesus Christ.
13:50Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world.
13:54Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:58Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
14:02but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
14:08My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
14:13I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul.
14:18Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
14:24I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
14:29Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
14:33Let us pray.
14:37May the communion in your sacrament that we have consumed save us, O Lord,
14:43and confirm us in the light of your truth.
14:47We ask this through Christ our Lord.
14:50The Lord be with you.
14:53May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
14:58The Mass has ended. Let us go in peace.
15:02Thanks be to God.
