00:00In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
00:18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
00:24As we prepare ourselves to receive Jesus the bread of life,
00:29let us call to mind our sins.
00:35I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters,
00:40that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words,
00:45in what I have done and what I have failed to do.
00:49Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault,
00:53therefore I ask, blessed Mary, every virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters,
01:01to pray for me to the Lord our God.
01:04May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:09Lord, have mercy.
01:12Christ, have mercy.
01:15Lord, have mercy.
01:18Glory to God in the highest.
01:20And on earth, peace to the people of goodwill.
01:23We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you.
01:29We give you thanks for your great glory.
01:32Lord God, heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father.
01:36Lord Jesus Christ, Holy Begotten Son.
01:40The Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
01:44We take away the sins of the world.
01:46Have mercy on us.
01:48We take away the sins of the world.
01:50Receive our prayer.
01:52You are seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:55Have mercy on us.
01:57For you alone are the Holy One.
01:59You alone are the Lord.
02:01You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ.
02:04With the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
02:08Amen.
02:11Draw near to your servants, O Lord,
02:13and answer their prayer with unceasing kindness,
02:16that for those who glory in you as their creator and guide,
02:20you may restore what you have created
02:22and keep safe what you have restored
02:24through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
02:26who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
02:30God, forever and ever.
02:32Amen.
02:34A reading from the Book of Exodus.
02:39The whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
02:44The Israelites said to them,
02:47Would that we had died of the Lord's hand in the land of Egypt
02:52as we sat by our flesh pots and ate our fill of bread.
02:57But you had to lead us into this desert
03:01to make the whole community die of famine.
03:06Then the Lord said to Moses,
03:08I will now rain down bread from heaven for you.
03:12Each day the people are to go out
03:18and gather their daily portion.
03:21Thus will I test them
03:24to see whether they follow my instructions or not.
03:28I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites.
03:32He said to them,
03:34In the evening, twilight, you shall eat flesh,
03:37and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread
03:41so that you may know that I, the Lord, am your God.
03:47In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp.
03:51In the morning, a dew lay all about the camp.
03:55And when the dew evaporated,
03:57there on the surface of the desert
04:01like hoarfrost on the ground.
04:03On seeing it, the Israelites asked one another,
04:07What is this?
04:09For they did not know what it was.
04:12But Moses told them,
04:14This is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.
04:20The word of the Lord.
04:22Thanks be to God.
04:24The Lord gave them bread, bread from heaven.
04:54The Lord gave them bread, bread from heaven.
05:09What we have heard and know,
05:14and what our fathers have declared to us,
05:20we will declare to the generation to come
05:26the glorious deeds of the Lord and his strength,
05:33the glorious deeds of the Lord
05:37and the wonders that he wrought.
05:44The Lord gave them bread, bread from heaven.
05:59He commanded the skies above
06:04and opened the doors of heaven.
06:10He rained manna upon them for food
06:15and gave them heavenly bread.
06:22The Lord gave them bread, bread from heaven.
06:37And ate the bread of angels,
06:42food he sent them in abundance.
06:48And he brought them to his holy land,
06:53to the mountains his right hand had won.
07:01The Lord gave them bread, bread from heaven.
07:20A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians.
07:25Brothers and sisters,
07:28I declare and testify in the Lord
07:31that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do
07:35in the futility of their minds.
07:39That is not how you learned Christ,
07:42assuming that you have heard of him
07:45and were taught in him as truth is in Jesus.
07:51That you should put away the old self
07:54of your former way of life,
07:56corrupted through deceitful desires,
07:59and be renewed in the spirit of your mind
08:03and put on a new self,
08:05created in God's way in righteousness
08:09and holiness of truth.
08:12The word of the Lord.
08:14Thanks be to God.
08:31Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
08:45Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
08:59One does not live on bread alone,
09:05but on every word that comes forth
09:10from the mouth of God.
09:17Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
09:31The Lord be with you.
09:32And with your spirit.
09:34A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
09:37Glory to you, Lord.
09:41When the crowd saw that neither Jesus
09:44nor his disciples were there,
09:46they themselves got into boats
09:49and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
09:52When they found him across the sea,
09:55they said to him,
09:56Rabbi, when did you get here?
09:59Jesus answered them and said,
10:01Amen, amen, I say to you,
10:04you are looking for me not because you saw signs,
10:08but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
10:11Do not work for food that perishes,
10:14but for the food that endures for eternal life,
10:18which the Son of Man will give you.
10:21For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.
10:26So they said to him,
10:28What can we do to accomplish the works of God?
10:31Jesus answered and said to them,
10:35This is the work of God,
10:37that you believe in the one he sent.
10:40So they said to him,
10:42What sign can you do
10:44that we may see and believe in you?
10:47What can you do?
10:49Our ancestors ate manna in the desert,
10:52as it is written.
10:53He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
10:57Jesus said to them,
10:59Amen, amen, I say to you,
11:02It was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven.
11:05My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
11:09For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven
11:13and gives life to the world.
11:16So they said to him,
11:18Sir, give us this bread always.
11:22Jesus said to them,
11:24I am the bread of life.
11:26Whoever comes to me will never hunger,
11:29and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
11:33The gospel of the Lord.
11:37I believe in one God.
11:59I believe in one God.
12:01I believe in one God.
12:03I believe in one God.
12:05I believe in one God.
12:07I believe in one God.
12:09I believe in one God.
12:11I believe in one God.
12:13I believe in one God.
12:15I believe in one God.
12:17I believe in one God.
12:19I believe in one God.
12:21I believe in one God.
12:23I believe in one God.
12:25I believe in one God.
12:28He will come to me,
12:32and his kingdom will have no end.
12:34I believe in the Holy Spirit,
12:37the Lord, whom you love,
12:39who proceeds from the Father and Son,
12:42who is the Father and the Son,
12:44of the daughter of Lord Pharaoh,
12:45who has spoken through the prophets.
12:47I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
12:51I confess my baptism with the Holy Spirit,
12:54For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our heart, let us pray to the
13:08Lord. Almighty God, we thank you for the gift of the Eucharist. May we always
13:16recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread. May we know that when we receive
13:21Jesus, we're receiving the guarantee of heaven. He is Christ our Lord. Amen.
13:51And we believe that we will see you in your glory, Lord, and remember that it is so that we may be with you.
14:21Hear our praying, bold and strong,
14:26Hearing those who cry to the Lamb in need.
14:33Heaven and earth are full of hope,
14:37and open to your light.
14:42And we believe that we will see you in your glory, Lord, and remember that it is so that we may be with you.
15:12And we believe that we will see you in your glory, Lord, and remember that it is so that we may be with you.
15:28Pray, my brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, our Almighty Father.
15:34May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your feet, for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church.
15:43Graciously sanctify these gifts, O Lord, we pray, and accepting the oblation of the spiritual sacrifice, make of us an eternal offering to you, through Christ our Lord.
15:53Amen. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
16:02It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks.
16:07Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
16:11For he is the true and eternal priest who instituted the pattern of an everlasting sacrifice and was the first to offer himself as a saving victim,
16:19commanding us to make this offering as his memorial.
16:22As we eat his flesh that was sacrificed for us, we are made strong.
16:25And as we drink his blood that was poured out for us, we are washed clean.
16:29And so with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim.
16:59Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
17:11Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
17:19Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
17:42Please be seated O'Neill.
17:45Tonight I would recommend you use the Ignatian method of prayer.
17:49The two key words with Saint Ignatius is commemoration and projection.
17:54Use your senses and imagination and you place yourself in the upper room with Jesus.
18:00Imagine yourself sitting at the table with Jesus the night of the first mass.
18:05How it felt to have Jesus wash your feet.
18:08How were the apostles dressed?
18:11What was it like?
18:13What was the night all about?
18:15The four cups of wine, cup of sanctification, reminding the people they were called to be holy, that God was holy.
18:22The cup of proclamation, the story of the exodus, the cup of blessing where Jesus identified the bread and wine with himself.
18:31And then the fourth cup, the cup of consummation of praise, Jesus drinking it on the cross.
18:37And then all the teaching of Jesus at the night of the last supper.
18:42He said I am the way, the truth and the life.
18:45I am the vine, you are the branches.
18:47I give you a new commandment to love one another.
18:50He prayed that we may be one and he said in my father's house there are many mansions.
18:55I go to prepare a place for you.
18:57So be with Jesus now in the upper room.
18:59Really make it real and be ready for the great miracle of the Holy Eucharist.
19:05You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
19:08Make holy therefore these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall,
19:14so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
19:19At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
19:23he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying,
19:28Take this, all of you, and eat of it.
19:31For this is my body which will be given up for you.
19:43In a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice
19:46and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying,
19:50Take this, all of you, drink from it.
19:52For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
19:57which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
20:02Do this in memory of me.
20:11The mystery of faith.
20:27We proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
20:42When we eat this bread and drink this cup,
20:47we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
21:03Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
21:06we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
21:09giving thanks that you've held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
21:13Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
21:16we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
21:19Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world
21:22and bring her to the fullness of charity,
21:24together with Francis our Pope, Louis our Bishop, and all your people.
21:28Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection
21:33and all who have died in your mercy.
21:35Welcome them into the light of your face.
21:38Have mercy on us all, we pray,
21:40that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
21:43with blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles,
21:46and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
21:49we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life
21:52and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
21:58Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,
22:02in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
22:04all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.
22:11Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
22:35Please look at the crucifix now.
22:37Every time we pray the Our Father, we pray for our daily bread.
22:40The Greek word is epiusias, which means specially located bread,
22:45the bread of life, Jesus Christ.
22:48So let's pray now for that bread as we pray.
22:51Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
22:56Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
22:59on earth as it is in heaven.
23:01Give us this day our daily bread.
23:04And forgive us our trespasses,
23:07as we forgive those who trespass against us.
23:10And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
23:15Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
23:17Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy
23:20we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
23:23as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
23:28For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.
23:32Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles,
23:34Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
23:36look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church,
23:39and graciously grant her peace and unity,
23:42in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.
23:46Peace of the Lord be with you always.
23:50Let's offer each other a sign of Christ's peace.
23:54Behold the Lamb of God.
23:56Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
23:59Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
24:02Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
24:06but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
24:10May the body and blood of Christ keep us safe for eternal life.
24:14My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the world,
24:19My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
24:24I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
24:29Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
24:32come at least spiritually into my heart.
24:35I embrace you as if you were already there,
24:37and unite myself wholly to you.
24:40Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
24:45Accompanied with constant protection, O Lord,
24:48those who renew with these heavenly gifts,
24:50and in your never-failing care for them,
24:53make them worthy of eternal redemption through Christ our Lord.
24:57Amen.
24:58The Lord be with you.
24:59And with your spirit.
25:00And may Almighty God bless you,
25:02the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
25:05Amen.
25:06Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
25:09Thanks be to God.
