Transcript
00:00Today is the feast of St. Mary Major, the church, the dedication of the church of St.
00:22Mary Major.
00:23It was the first church in the western part of the church dedicated to Mary after the
00:29Council of Ephesus, which declared Mary to be the mother of God.
00:34It was really about the full humanity of Jesus, that he was truly human, not a make-believe
00:39human, as well as being truly God.
00:42So we pray to Our Lady, so that we can keep saying yes to God like she did, in the name
00:47of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:51Peace be with you.
00:52We acknowledge our sins, but more importantly, the compassion, the mercy, and the love of
00:57God.
00:58You forgive our sins, Lord have mercy.
01:01You call us away from fear into love, Christ have mercy.
01:05You continue to walk with us in all situations, Lord have mercy.
01:10May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and
01:16life everlasting.
01:18Let us pray.
01:19Pardon the faults of your servants, we pray, O Lord, that we who cannot please you by our
01:24own deeds may be saved through the intercession of the Mother of your Son, O Lord, who lives
01:29and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
01:35Amen.
01:36A reading from the book of the Apocalypse.
01:40I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth.
01:43The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea.
01:49I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, as beautiful
01:57as a bride or a dress for her husband.
01:59Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, You see this city, here God lives among humans.
02:06He will make his home among them.
02:09They shall be his people, and he will be their God.
02:12His name is God with them.
02:15He will wipe away all tears from their eyes.
02:18There will be no more death, no more mourning or sadness.
02:21The word of the past has gone, and the one sitting on the throne spoke, Now I am making
02:27the whole of creation new.
02:30The word of the Lord.
02:32Thanks be to God.
02:35You are the highest honor of our race.
02:38You are the highest honor of our race.
02:43May you be blessed, my daughter, by God most high, beyond all women on earth, and may the
02:48Lord God be blessed, the creator of heaven and earth.
02:51You are the highest honor of our race.
02:55The trust you have shown shall not pass from the memories of humans, but shall ever remind
03:01them of the power of God.
03:04You are the highest honor of our race.
03:08Alleluia, Alleluia.
03:11Blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.
03:14Alleluia.
03:15The Lord be with you.
03:19A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
03:22Glory to you, O Lord.
03:25As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, Happy the womb
03:31that bore you and the breasts you suckled.
03:34But he replied, Still happy are those who hear the word of God and keep it.
03:41The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
03:44Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
03:53Mary is even more important because she heard the word of God and kept it.
04:00Of course she's important because she bore Jesus, but she is certainly the one who kept
04:06the word of God, pondered and kept it throughout her life, giving us a wonderful example of
04:12faithfulness.
04:13And she's the one who keeps telling us always to listen to Jesus.
04:19And she is a mother given to us by Jesus to help us keep listening to him.
04:27The word of God became flesh.
04:29God became truly human, one of us in Jesus, an amazing, amazing miracle, but a wonderful
04:37gift to us because through him, we become one into the inner life of God.
04:53Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness, we have this bread
04:57to offer, which earth has given, human hands have made, it will become for us the bread
05:02of life.
05:03Blessed be God forever.
05:04Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness, we have this bread
05:05to offer, which earth has given, human hands have made, it will become for us the bread
05:06of life.
05:07Blessed be God forever.
05:08Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness, we have this bread
05:09to offer, which earth has given, human hands have made, it will become for us the bread
05:10of life.
05:11Blessed be God forever.
05:12Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness, we have this wine
05:29to offer, fruit of divine work of human hands, it will become a spiritual drink.
05:35Blessed be God forever.
05:45Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God
05:51our Almighty Father.
05:53May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands for the praise and glory of God's name, for
05:58our good and the good of God's holy church.
06:05Receive, O Lord, we ask the prayers of your people, with the sacrificial offerings, that
06:11through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, the Mother of your Son, no petition may go
06:17unanswered, no request be made vain, through Christ our Lord.
06:21Amen.
06:22The Lord be with you, lift up your hearts, let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
06:51It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, O Lord, to praise your mighty
06:57deeds in the exaltation of all the saints, and especially as we celebrate the memory
07:01of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to proclaim your kingdom as we echo her thanksgiving hymn of
07:07praise.
07:08For truly, even to earth's ends, you have done great things, and extended your abundant
07:14mercy from age to age, when you looked on the lowliness of your handmaid, and gave us
07:19through her the offer of our salvation, your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
07:25Through him, the host of angels adores you, and rejoices in your presence forever.
07:31May our voices, we pray, join with theirs in one chorus of exultant praise, as we acclaim,
07:37Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna
07:44in the highest.
07:46Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
07:54You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
07:58Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like
08:03we do for them, that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:09At the time he was betrayed and penned unwillingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving
08:16thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of
08:22it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.
08:32In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
08:37he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this
08:43is the chalice of my blood.
08:45The blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many
08:51for the forgiveness of sins.
08:53Do this in memory of me.
09:01The mystery of faith.
09:03When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you
09:09come again.
09:11Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you,
09:15Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held
09:20us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
09:24Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into
09:30one by the Holy Spirit.
09:32Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of
09:36charity, together with Francis our Pope, me, your unworthy servant, Eugenia, our emeritus
09:43bishop, and all the clergy who serve your people and the entire family your Son has
09:48gave for you.
09:50Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
09:55and all who have died in your mercy.
09:58Welcome them into the light of your face.
10:01Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Blessed
10:06Joseph the Spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout
10:11the ages, we may, through your grace, merit to be coerced with eternal life, and may praise
10:17and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
10:24Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
10:29Spirit, all glory and honour is yours for ever and ever.
10:33Amen.
10:36At the Saviour's command, and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say.
10:40Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done
10:47on earth as it is in heaven.
10:50Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
10:56trespass against us.
10:58And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
11:02Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
11:05Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always
11:10free from sin, and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming
11:16of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
11:19For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
11:25Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look
11:30not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and
11:35unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign for ever and ever.
11:39Amen.
11:40The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
11:43Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
11:47Peace be with you all.
11:49Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
11:55Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
12:00Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
12:22Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, happy are those who are
12:26called to the supper of the Lamb.
12:29Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my
12:34soul shall be healed.
12:37My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
12:42I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
12:47Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
12:53I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
12:58Never permit me to be separated from you.
13:01Amen.
13:03Let us pray.
13:04As we receive this heavenly sacrament, we beseech, O Lord, your mercy, that we who rejoice
13:09in the commemorating of the Blessed Virgin Mary may be made by imitating her, serve
13:16worthily the mystery of our redemption.
13:18Through Christ our Lord.
13:19Amen.
13:20The Lord be with you.
13:22And may the peace and the blessing of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
13:26come upon you and remain always with you.
13:29Let us go and live the gospel.
13:31Thanks be to God, and God bless your day.
