00:00In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:19We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy and the love of God
00:25on this feast of Saint Teresa Benedicta, Edith Stein, who was really martyred in the concentration
00:35camp of Auschwitz.
00:36She was a Benedictine nun and an amazing lady.
00:42So we hear our own call to bear witness to Christ.
00:46Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
00:51May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us into healing and life
00:57everlasting.
00:58God, our Father, who brought the martyr Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross to know your
01:06crucified Son and to imitate him even until death, grant through her intercession that
01:12the whole human race may acknowledge Christ as its Saviour and through him come to behold
01:17you for eternity, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God
01:23forever and ever, Amen.
01:26A reading from the Prophet Nahum.
01:32See over the mountains the messenger Harris, peace he proclaims, Judah celebrate your feasts,
01:41carry out your vows, for Belial will never pass through you again.
01:49He is utterly unalliated, yes, the Lord is restoring the vineyard of Jacob and the vineyard
01:56of Israel, for the plunderers have plundered them and they have broken off their branches.
02:02Woe to the city, soaked in blood, full of lies, stuffed with booty, whose plunderings
02:10know no end.
02:12The crack of the whip, the ramble of whales, galloping horse, jolting chariot, charging
02:19cavalry, flash of swords, gleam of spears, a mass of wounded, hosts of dead, countless
02:28corpses, they stumble over the dead.
02:31I am going to pelt you with filth, shame you, make you a public show, and all who look on
02:38you will turn their backs on you and say, Nineveh is a ruin, could anyone pity her?
02:46Where can I find anyone to comfort her?
02:50The word of the Lord thanks be to God, it is I who will deal death and give life, it
02:57is I who will deal death and give life.
03:01It is close the day of the ruin, their doom comes at speed, for the Lord will see his
03:07people righted, he will take pity on his servants.
03:12It is I who will deal death and give life, see now that I am he, and beside me there
03:18is no other God.
03:20It is I who will deal death and life, when I have struck it, it is I who will heal.
03:27It is I who will deal death and give life.
03:31When I have whetted my flashing sword, I will take up the cause of right, I will give
03:38my foes as good again, and will repay those who hate me.
03:43It is I who will deal death and give life.
03:47Alleluia, Alleluia, happy are they who suffer persecution for justice' sake, the kingdom
03:54of heaven is theirs, Alleluia.
04:01The Lord be with you.
04:03A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:06Glory to you, O Lord.
04:09Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let them renounce
04:15themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
04:18For anyone who wants to save their life will lose it, anyone who loses their life for my
04:23sake will find it.
04:25What then will one gain if they win the whole world and ruin their life?
04:30Or what has one to offer in exchange for their life?
04:34For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and when
04:41he does, he will reward each one according to their behavior.
04:45I tell you solemnly, there are some of you standing here who will not taste death before
04:51they see the Son of Man coming with his kingdom.
04:56The Gospel of the Lord.
04:58Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:04Edith Stein, like Maximilian Kolbe and so many others, died at Auschwitz in concentration
05:11camp.
05:14She was a woman of amazing faith, had the privilege of being in Auschwitz one time during
05:20one of the World Youth Days, which was in Poland, and I looked at the evil that happened
05:25there and then looked at the beacons of light like Edith Stein, Maximilian Kolbe, whose
05:31light in Christ would not be suffocated by the amazing evil around them.
05:38The reminder that Christ overcomes evil and we, with him, are able not to be overcome
05:47by evil.
06:18Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this bread
06:26to offer, which earth has given, human hands have made, it will become for us the bread
06:31of life.
06:33Blessed be God forever.
06:51Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this wine
06:55to offer, fruit of divine work of human hands, it will become a spiritual drink.
07:00Blessed be God forever.
07:13Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God
07:18our Almighty Father.
07:20May the Lord accept this sacrifice from our hands, for the praise and glory of God's name,
07:25for our good and the good of God's holy Church.
07:28Graciously accept and perfect, O Lord, the oblations we dedicate to you, in commemoration
07:34of your martyr Saint Teresa Benedicta, for you brought to completion the many offerings
07:40of the Old Covenant, that by one perfect sacrifice, which your Son offered in his blood, who lives
07:47and reigns with you forever and ever.
07:51Amen.
07:56The Lord be with you.
07:59Lift up your hearts.
08:00Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
08:04It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give
08:09you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, for you are glorified when your
08:14Saints are praised.
08:18Their very suffering are but wonders of your might.
08:21In your mercy you give order to their faith.
08:25In their endurance you grant firm resolve.
08:29And in their struggle, the victory is yours, through Christ our Lord.
08:33Therefore, all preachers of heaven and earth, sing a new song in adoration, and we, with
08:38all the hosts of angels, cry out without end, without end, we acclaim, Holy, Holy, Holy
08:46Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest, blessed
08:53is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
08:58You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
09:01Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like
09:06we do you, O Lord, that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
09:12At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving
09:19thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of
09:25it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.
09:35In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
09:41he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this
09:46is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be
09:53poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
09:58Do this in memory of me.
10:06The mystery of faith, same as Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection
10:14you have set us free.
10:16Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you,
10:21Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held
10:26us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
10:30Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into
10:36one by the Holy Spirit.
10:39Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of
10:43charity, together with Francis our Pope, me, your unworthy servant, Eugene our Emeritus
10:50Bishop, all the clergy who serve your people, and your entire family.
10:56Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
11:02and all who have died in your mercy.
11:05Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:08Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Blessed
11:12Joseph, and Spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, Saint Teresa Benedicta, and all the Saints
11:19who have preached you throughout the ages, we may, through your grace, merit to be co-heirs
11:24to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
11:31Through him, and with him, and in him, O Lord Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
11:36Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.
11:41Amen.
11:43In the Saviour's command, and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say,
11:48Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
11:52Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11:56Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
12:02trespass against us.
12:04And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
12:08Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
12:11Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy, we may be always
12:16free from sin, and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming
12:22of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
12:25For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
12:30Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look
12:35not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church.
12:38And graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and
12:43reign for ever and ever.
12:44Amen.
12:45The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
12:48Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:51Peace be with you all.
12:53Lamp of God, you take away the sins of the world.
12:57Have mercy on us.
12:59Lamp of God, you take away the sins of the world.
13:02Have mercy on us.
13:04Lamp of God, you take away the sins of the world.
13:07Grant us peace.
13:24Behold the Lamp of God, who takes away the sins of the world.
13:28Happy are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:31Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and
13:36my soul shall be healed.
13:38My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
13:43I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
13:48Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
13:54I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
14:00Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:03Amen.
14:06Let us pray.
14:10Grant, most merciful God, that as we venerate St. Teresa Benedicta, these heavenly fruits
14:17of the tree of the cross, may give strength to our hearts, so that by clinging faithfully
14:22to Christ on earth, we may, through your grace, merit to eat in Paradise of the Tree
14:28of Life.
14:29Through Christ our Lord.
14:31Amen.
14:32The Lord be with you, and may the peace and the blessing of the Father and of the Son
14:36and of the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain always with you.
14:40Let us go and live the Gospel.
14:43God bless your day.
14:52Amen.
