00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dersu Studios in Havana,
00:50Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
00:52In Venezuela, presidential candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole Nicolás Maduro denounced
00:56on Tuesday that the far-right was hiring Colombian paramilitaries to create chaos in the country
01:01during his electoral campaign.
01:03In this regard, during his visit to the state of La Guaira, Maduro said that the Venezuelan
01:08far-right is responsible for deceiving the Venezuelan people with false promises, using
01:13the support they have from some communities to damage the country.
01:18In this sense, Maduro also reiterated that while his campaign is focused on visiting
01:22the national territory to present his management plan, leaders of the fascist right are carrying
01:27out various plans to destabilize the country.
01:37Also the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, visited the town of Comanacoa to inspect
01:42the progress made in the recovery efforts after the passage of Hurricane Beryl following
01:46the overflowing of the Manzanares River as a result of the rain caused by Beryl.
01:51The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, together with other high officials, made an
01:55inspection of the affected areas.
01:57The phenomenon left more than 7,900 houses affected and at least six dead.
02:02In addition, the head of state activated the presidential command post in Comanacoa to
02:06tend to the families and closely supervise the progress in the reconstruction work being
02:10made.
02:16On Tuesday, the head of the Venezuelan Nuestra campaign command, Jorge RodrĂguez, denounced
02:21a siege against mayors who announced their support for the candidacy of President Nicolás
02:26Maduro.
02:27In this regard, RodrĂguez exposed that the mayors of the municipalities of Obispos and
02:31Rojas in the state of Barinas have received death threats after the release of their support
02:36statement on Monday.
02:37While addressing the siege, RodrĂguez further highlighted that the independent mayors who
02:41backed the candidacy of President Maduro have taken their decision in rejection of
02:45violence and for the consolidation of peace.
02:55The statement of the mayor, Adrián, cannot be taken lightly.
03:02It is an elected official in the year 2021.
03:12He won the mayorship in that year and he has also received death threats.
03:19He has also received threats that his home and vehicle will be burned.
03:28Days away from the presidential elections in Venezuela, different candidates continue

04:00I have the reins of military power.
04:06Less than three weeks before voting, opposition mayors joined the candidacy of Nicolás Maduro,

04:17Meanwhile, presidential rivals of the government in their tour, Javier Bertucci of the Change
04:22Party, met with young people in Carabobo in the north-central part of the country.
04:27And believe me, with hate we will never change a country.
04:30At a press conference, the opposition candidate for the Coalition of Democratic Action and
04:34CAPE announced that he will visit 83 localities until the end of the electoral campaign.
04:41Town by town, because we conceived the electoral campaign as an opportunity to listen, learn
04:46and relate to those we are going to serve for the next six years.
04:52Antonio Carri, who considers himself independent, announced in a meeting with journalists from
04:56the oil state of Zulia an emergency plan to be activated during his administration.
05:02Due to hatred and revenge, Venezuela does not move forward.
05:06A country where there is no second round.
05:08Of the ten candidates, the one with the most valid votes wins.

07:18and women, while 53 were injured.
07:21Precisely, this is the fourth Israeli bombing to hit an educational facility in the last

07:31Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees in Gaza since October 7.
07:40In this context, the World Health Organization declared on Tuesday that there is no safe

08:01either self-evacuated, were discharged early or were transferred to the Kamal Adwan and
08:06Indonesian hospitals, which are suffering from shortages of fuel, beds and trauma medical
08:11supplies.
08:12The representative added that the Indonesian hospital tripled its capacity, while the Al-Hallou

12:17In France, the newly elected lawmakers from different left-wing parties arrived at the
12:21National Assembly.
12:22In the European country, discussions have begun in order to form a government majority
12:26after an election result that divided the legislature.
12:29In this context, dozens of activists and civilians turned up at the National Assembly, heartened
12:33by the electoral victory of the new Popular Front.
12:36The left-wing coalition will have over 190 seats in the future legislature.
12:41According to several leaders, left-wing parties continue to advocate for a government formed
12:45by the new Popular Front, promising to put forward the name of a Prime Minister and a
12:49team by the end of this week.
12:56The President, who seemed to want to clarify things, has only provoked disorder.
13:01Clarity will come from the new Popular Front.
13:04The new Popular Front came first in the legislative elections.
13:08It is the leading Republican force in this country and therefore has the responsibility
13:12to form a government to implement the public policies expected by the French people.
13:22For the first time in the Fifth Republic and in our own history, lawmakers from France
13:26unbowed are going into the National Assembly not as an opposition force to power, but as
13:30a force that intends to govern the country.
13:34Chinese government denounced the North Atlantic Treaty Organization for slaughtering, attacking
13:39and holding China responsible in order to fuel tensions in the Asia-Pacific region.
13:43Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said that China advocates for world peace and contributes
13:47to global development and international order.
13:50The spokesman added that the country maintains an objective and fair position on international
13:54regional conflicts such as the Ukrainian crisis.
13:57Furthermore, Lin Jian urged NATO to form a fair perception of China, stop creating enemies
14:02and to instead take concrete actions for the benefit of world stability and development.
14:13As a legacy of the Cold War and the world's largest military alliance, NATO claims to
14:17be a regional defensive alliance on the one hand, but on the other hand continues to violate
14:22its boundaries, expand its mandate, fuel confrontation and engage in acts of intimidation.
14:28NATO's so-called security is at the expense of the security of others, and its actions
14:32have brought high security risks to the world and the region.
14:36China firmly opposes its actions of defaming, attacking and blaming China.
14:42China also opposes NATO's use of China as an excuse to inflame regional tensions in
14:47the Asia-Pacific region.
14:51The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Hamed landed on Tuesday in Port Sudan to meet with the
14:55President of the Sudanese Foreign Council and Army Leader Abdel Fattah al-Buhan.
15:01With this visit, Hamed becomes the first president to visit the country since the beginning of
15:05the conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in April 2023.
15:10The meeting was set to discuss bilateral relations between the two nations and to find sustainable
15:16solutions for the stability of Sudan.
15:18The Ethiopian Prime Minister expressed the importance of peace as a basis for development
15:23and reiterated that the country's problems should be solved without external interference.
15:38In Damascus, Syria, the 44th edition of the International Flower Fair, inaugurated at
15:43the end of last June, continues.
15:45A sociocultural event whose organization, after long years of war, demonstrates the
15:49failure of terrorism and its Western financiers to paralyze life in Syria.
15:54Let's see more details in the following report by our correspondent Hisham Wanous.
16:03More than 70 local plants, nurseries, and about 29 foreign entities exhibit the products
16:09of flowers, ornamental, medicinal, and aromatic plants in this fair, organized by the Syrian
16:14Ministry of Tourism and the Governorate of Damascus in the central and emblematic Tishrin
16:19Park in the capital, in order to promote the culture of plant preservation and to send
16:25a message of beauty, love, and peace from Syria to the whole world.
16:35Syria is the country of jasmine, and its capital, Damascus, is the capital of all Arabs.
16:41Our participation today aims at deepening the fraternal relations between our country
16:46and the Syrian Arab Republic, and we hope that in future fairs of this kind, we can
16:51have greater participation of both the public and private sectors.
17:00There is a wide participation, not only from the different Syrian governorates, but also
17:04from our brother Arab countries, which helps us to learn about new experiences in the cultivation
17:09of new plants, as well as to open new foreign trade for our products, and this is evidence
17:13that Syria is recovering.
17:15Thank God.
17:22In addition to flower and plant growers, 80 entities exhibit products from family projects
17:27and wounded military personnel.
17:29It is also an event that highlights beekeeping products and the famous Damasc rose, as well
17:35as aromatic oils, natural soaps, and traditional handicrafts, where more than 100 veterans
17:40of Syrian handicrafts contribute through their participation in the preservation of these
17:45artistic crafts, which are typical of the Syrian culture.
17:53The setting is very beautiful, because in addition to the exhibition of flowers and
17:58the organization of cultural activities, there are pavilions for the exhibition of handicraft
18:03products that are extremely beautiful and also an essential part of our heritage and
18:07our traditions in a beautiful combination with the environmental products.
18:14The representative symbol of this year's fair is the Damasc rose due to its importance.
18:19Therefore, we are trying to promote its cultivation all over Syria and use the income from its
18:26products to improve the national economy, such as perfume, rose water, rose oil, rose
18:33juice, sweet compost, shampoos, and creams to soften and protect the skin.
18:45Besides the fair, artistic activities, plays for children, musical concerts, seminars,
18:50and programs related to everything new in the world of landscaping, plants, and flowers
18:55take place, a wide range of activities which encourages domestic tourism and contributes
19:00to improving the national economy in the face of Western coercive measures.
