00:00In terms of health, it should always be updated, so let's have a look at the latest health updates in the country.
00:09Are you ready for the rainy season?
00:12The Department of Health is ready for the so-called wild or waterborne illness, influenza-like illness, leptospirosis, and dengue monitoring.
00:23Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can be found in plants, water, or soil.
00:33As of June 15, 2024, 878 cases of leptospirosis have been reported.
00:39This is half of the 1,769 cases reported last year at the same time.
00:46DOH reminds everyone to continue to be careful in the event of leptospirosis.
00:51Avoid flooding.
00:53And if you can't avoid it, use boots.
00:57And immediately wash your body with clean water and soap.
01:03DOH also reminds local governments to de-clog the flood drain and implement road end control.
01:11Meanwhile, the call this month is for sufficient nutrition for everyone.
01:16In the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Nutrition Mall,
01:20the National Nutrition Council is calling for the support of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2024-2028.
01:28This is far from the so-called triple burden of malnutrition.
01:33This is undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiency.
01:39Undernutrition can be seen in cases of stunting or obesity,
01:44wasting or too low weight for height,
01:48and underweight or lack of weight based on age.
01:53Overnutrition cases are also being given attention to people who are overweight or obese,
01:59as well as nutrition deficiencies such as vitamins A, iron, and iodine.
02:06As a reminder, healthy diet is the key.
02:09Choose what we eat, and remember, whatever deficiency or excess is harmful.
02:18It's too expensive.
02:19That's what those who are on dialysis are asking for.
02:22That's why PhilHealth is now increasing the package rate for hemodialysis and ancillary services
02:28such as access insertion and blood products.
02:32This is good news, especially for the patients who are suffering from dialysis.
02:38From Php 2,600 per session,
02:41PhilHealth has now increased the package rate for hemodialysis to Php 4,000 per session.
02:48The separate payment for catheter insertion and blood transfusion is also approved.
02:54This is in line with what President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said back then,
02:58that dialysis is free for Filipinos.
03:02Do you think it's a disease?
03:05Oh no!
03:06Be careful, fellow Filipinos!
03:08The case of Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome has been reported in the country.
03:13It's a bacterial infection where a person's body part can get infected.
03:18There is this form of infection that involves the skin and soft tissue.
03:23It means that it starts from the skin and then it can cause a severe form of skin infection.
03:32The mortality rate or chance of death of an infected person is around 30%.
03:38It can also die within 24 hours after its symptoms start,
03:44such as fever, body aches, weakness, nausea, and difficulty breathing.
03:51Those with weak resistance, old age, diabetes, and kidney failure are more at risk here.
03:59That's why, fellow Filipinos, be careful and if you experience symptoms,
04:04consult your doctor immediately.
04:06And those are our latest health updates for this month.
04:10Always remember, fellow Filipinos,
04:12as long as it's about health, you must stay updated.
