00:00Hello everyone I went to see a movie yesterday afternoon and it really really was a fantastic
00:12film. It's called Thelma. Now the main actress in this is absolutely incredible. It also had
00:21Richard Roundtree that sadly passed away. This was his last film he made. He is well known for
00:32Shaft movies that came out in the 70s. I believe there's about three or four of those movies that
00:38were made. Great actor Richard Roundtree just a great actor. Did many many things and worked with
00:49many many stars. The actress in this movie is 93 years old and she did her own stunts in the movie
00:57Thelma. I highly recommend don't watch the trailer because the trailer does give away a little too
01:03much. The director also wrote this and he did a fantastic job of putting realism to this movie
01:12because it was real. It was emotional. I was up and down. I was laughing. I was crying. These
01:21things really do happen to seniors. They get scammed at the beginning of the film. Now before
01:30I get into that I'll talk about the actress. The actress that was 93 in this film she never had a
01:38leading role before. I'm pretty sure I just said that but it shocks me. It shocks me. She's been
01:44nominated for many many things as supporting roles. She's done many supporting roles in many
01:51many movies and TV series and you will recognize her. She did a horror movie too called Would You
01:57Rather supporting role that came out of 2012. I highly recommend watching Would You Rather. My
02:05friend didn't like it at all but I thoroughly enjoyed that movie. It was a thriller movie and
02:10she's worked with many many other actors. She started her career in 1959 in a Broadway musical
02:17Gypsy and after that she got a role and another role and another role but finally she has a leading
02:26role and finally I believe she should get an Academy Award for Best Actress in Thelma. Now
02:35with all this being said when I went to the theater I was the younger person there. Everyone
02:41else was in their 60s and 70s. Afterwards I talked to some of them and they laughed harder than I did.
02:49I guess some jokes I just didn't get because I'm not that old yet. Laughter sometimes changes over
02:57a period of time. I found it funny though in some aspects and I did cry too in this movie. It was an
03:07emotional movie for me. Now at the beginning the grandson is showing Thelma how to use a computer.
03:19And it was an interesting conversation that did make me chuckle and laugh. When the grandson left
03:26it showed how she spent her days exercising at the house, alone, eating, good music in the background
03:37and good cinematography. Very good lighting too. I always complained about that sometimes. Now right
03:44now it's getting a 99% Rotten Tomatoes. On an IMPD it actually has a 7.9 and it should. It is a
03:55fantastic movie. Then she gets scammed and she freaks out and calls her daughter and she's
04:05calling all these people but no one's responding. They're working. So she lost her money. She did
04:12what the scammer said and lost $10,000. Later on she wants it back so she goes to a retirement home.
04:22I don't want to tell you too much but she goes to see Richard Roundtree, the actor. I can't remember
04:31what his name is in this movie sadly enough. And it was just it was emotional and it was funny and
04:40the dialogue was very clever. She's going to get it back. So she's in a scooter and she's going to
04:48go and find the person with the address that she has because the police couldn't do anything for
04:54her and she's going to get it back herself. She doesn't think the family will help her but she
05:00wants to be independent, do it on her own. And you run into some actors that are older and I didn't
05:07recognize some of them but I'm not going to tell you who they are and there's other actors in this
05:11movie but I'm not going to tell you who they are. But the acting is fantastic and honestly this
05:16movie should get Best Picture and she should get Best Actress award for this. Absolutely. It's about
05:24time she had a leading role and it's about time she gets an Academy Award for Best Actress. She
05:31was absolutely incredible. So was Richard Redtree. Sadly enough he passed away. This was
05:38Richard Redtree's last movie. I might have already mentioned that but it's sad to see him gone. The
05:45character from Shaft and many other movies. It is sad that he passed away of last year in 2023. I
05:54personally give this movie a 10 out of 10. It is fantastic and for people who scam the elderly it
06:03is so sad that they would sink that low to do something to take money from an older person
06:13who's already going through many other issues and many other things. It saddens me. It really hits
06:21me hard when that stuff truly happens to true people and even some older people that I knew
06:28that this happened to. It should never happen. I believe that this movie should be free for all
06:37seniors. Seniors should not pay for this movie. Seniors should go free of charge. No one should,
06:45no senior should pay for this movie. They should all see this freely. That is my recommendation and
06:54I stick to that. I don't mind paying for it myself but a senior no. This all being said a 10 out of
07:0510 for me. I thought it was a perfect movie. I love the scooter scene and I love how they had
07:10to charge it up and how they had to team up and did she get her money back? I'm not going to tell
07:17you. Do not watch the trailer. Watch the movie. It will give you an emotional ride. Great directing,
07:24great writing and great acting. Alright everyone check out my other movie reviews and much more.
07:30Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day and bye for now.
