00:00Hello everyone, my name is Paul Branson, and I do many things, food reviews, movie reviews,
00:07and so, so, so much more.
00:09Well today, I'm doing a movie I didn't even know about.
00:12I had no clue about it.
00:13I saw the poster, and they said it was a horror movie.
00:17Well, when I looked it up, it said it was a thriller mystery movie.
00:21I say it's more of a thriller psychological movie.
00:24It's called Blink Twice.
00:27And the poster has, as you see in the back of me, a camera, a good old-fashioned Polaroid
00:33camera taking pictures.
00:36But this was what actually surprised me.
00:39I'm sitting in the theater, and I was tuned in right away, because I had no clue what
00:45was really going on.
00:47Right away it gets into character development.
00:49There's a woman watching a TV.
00:51Now this woman actress was in Rise of Skywalker, so I've only seen her once.
00:56She did do other movies, but I'd never really seen her in those movies.
01:00But now I'm going to really watch her, because this was a fantastic movie that she did.
01:06She was the star of the show.
01:08Also another actor was in this too, and I didn't really watch too many of him, too many
01:14of his movies either, but he did 21 Jump Street 1 and 2.
01:20And 21 Jump Street was a TV series with Johnny Depp in it.
01:24And when they went to do a TV movie, or not a TV movie, an actual movie, they had this
01:30actor in it.
01:32Now these two were the main stars, and they had some other actors in there too that I
01:35don't want to mention, because I kind of want you to be surprised.
01:39They did have Christian Slater in here, and this is for people my age.
01:43Christian Slater did a lot of movies, a lot of movies.
01:47Broken Arrow with John Travolta.
01:51He did Robin Hood with Kevin Cussner, called Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, and that was
01:56a great movie as well.
01:58So if you don't know who Christian Slater is, check him out, check out his movies, because
02:03he was in this, and it was nice to see him in this movie, because I just haven't seen
02:07it in a long time, or him in a long time, and he did some other great stuff.
02:13Now what the movie is about, this billionaire got in trouble.
02:17So he left his company, and gave it to someone else to look after while he went to a retreat.
02:23Well he more than went to a retreat, he went to an island, and then he came back and apologized.
02:29So this is what the woman is watching on TV.
02:32Now this woman is poor, she has nothing, she just has a job that she seems to get in trouble
02:38in.
02:39So here's the character development here, of a poor woman and her friend, that can barely
02:44pay rent.
02:46So now she goes to work, and she's getting chewed out at work, because this is a big
02:51gala, the billionaire will be there.
02:54Now while she's at the job doing it, her friend comes, and says, let's crash the party.
03:02So now, she leaves her job, puts on a dress, and the billionaire is now looking at her.
03:09But something else happened at the party.
03:14There was a lot of parties, and stuff like that, I'm trying to bite my tongue to make
03:20sure.
03:21Something happened at the party, but there was a connection between her and the billionaire.
03:27So now, the billionaire is inviting her and her friend to the island.
03:34Now right away there's reviewers going, why would you go with a perfectly good stranger
03:38to an island?
03:40Because he's a billionaire.
03:41They're saying, that just doesn't make sense to me.
03:43But she's like, why not?
03:45She had nothing there for her.
03:47She had nothing.
03:48She also had some trauma, stuff that happened to her in the past, that you find out a little
03:53later on, that I'm not really going to tell you about.
03:56But now she goes to this island, and all these women are there, and all these men are there,
04:02and they're just having a party, they're having fun all the time, but that's a little suspicious.
04:07Why are they partying?
04:09Why are they having fun all the time?
04:11There's other stuff that goes on.
04:12There's workers there doing other work and other things, but something odd is going on.
04:19Something odd.
04:20Now, the main guy who plays the billionaire, he's really good.
04:24He's like kind of creepy, kind of not, a partier, and then the men are acting a little strange,
04:31and they also have a camera taking pictures of everybody.
04:34So what's going on?
04:35Is it something about the island, or is it something about the men, or is it something
04:40about the workers?
04:41What is truly going on?
04:43So I found this to be a really good, intelligently done movie.
04:47I did find it to be a little bit too long.
04:50I would have maybe taken out ten minutes.
04:52But right now, as I'm thinking about it, maybe it was fine the way it was.
04:58Now the ending itself will be talked about for a long time.
05:02The ending is very, very good.
05:05Now all this being said, the creepy music suited it, the cinematography was incredible,
05:12the way it was edited.
05:13Now the director who did this, this is the first time she directed a movie.
05:17She was an actress and did some other movies, and I don't think I ever saw her act before.
05:21But man, she could direct.
05:23She also co-wrote it with somebody else, or she co-wrote it with her, I'm not sure exactly
05:28how that worked out.
05:29But there was two writers, and man, fantastic writing, fantastic script, fantastic dialogue.
05:38It kept you interested all the way around, especially the creepy music.
05:42Now it cost $20 million to make, 77 rotten tomatoes, and a 7 out of 10 on IMBD.
05:49Now it didn't make too much money at the box office.
05:51Deadpool and Wolverine is still killing it for this year of 2024.
05:56Now, there were people in the theater, and afterwards I was talking to them, and they
06:01enjoyed it too.
06:02They would give this movie 8 out of 10.
06:05I would give this movie a 9 out of 10.
06:08I really did enjoy it, but I did feel it was just a little tinch too long.
06:13But that's nothing.
06:14Like, I just didn't want it to drag, and I just felt it did.
06:18I felt that certain things just got to a point already, so it could have just been shorter.
06:24Other than that, I really enjoyed it, a 9 out of 10, you've got to see it, the ending
06:29would be talked about for years, $20 million to make, great actors, and some other surprise
06:35actors in here.
06:36I'm just not going to tell you.
06:38Bye for now, everyone, have an incredible day, thank you for watching, and check it
06:42out in the theater, because the Cinephotography deserves that, plus the music.
06:47Bye for now, and thank you for watching.
