00:00Hello everyone, I'm Paul Branson, so if you type in Paul Branson Reviews, you see a whole
00:06bunch of reviews, movies, talking to people, Farmers Markets, Ripfest, Comic Con, and so
00:13much more.
00:14Anyway, today I am doing a movie, and this movie is really good.
00:21It's the directors and writer, he wrote it and directed it, his second movie.
00:28His first movie he did in 2018 that I've never seen, I don't even think it went to theaters,
00:35but it did win some awards, all around the world there's film festivals, and his very
00:40first film won an award, the 2018 film, I can't pronounce it, but it's L-U-Z, I can't
00:48pronounce it from the likes of me, L-U-Z lose, or something, as you know I have a pronunciation
00:54problem, so certain words I just cannot say, but this is his second film he did, it didn't
01:00play in a whole bunch of theaters, and I was lucky enough to see it in a theater, I was
01:05just walking down Toronto one day and saw, oh, it's playing here, I gotta go and check
01:11this out, so I went in and I watched the movie, and I really really enjoyed it, and strangely
01:17enough I cannot pronounce this name of the movie either, Cock-a-doodle, or it's K, it
01:26starts with a K, cuckoo clock or something like that, I just can't say it right, but
01:35it's a horror movie, a thriller movie, and honestly his style to me reminded me of David
01:41Lynch, David Lynch did some really weird movies, like if you know who he is, he did
01:49Twin Peaks the TV series, he did Twin Peaks the movie, and he's done a whole bunch of
01:56things, but his style, and the person's name is Tailman Singer, Tailman Singer wrote it
02:04and directed it, his second movie, and I'm so glad I saw it in the theater, there were
02:10a lot of people there, but afterwards when I talked with the people, they enjoyed it
02:15too, and some of them agreed with me that it felt like a David Lynch movie, and some
02:22were like, yeah, it did, they had to think about it for a minute, now, right away they
02:29have this wonderful actor, Dan Stevens, now Dan Stevens, if I'm saying his first name
02:35right, he was in Downtown Abbey, and he quitted being in Downtown Abbey to do other things,
02:43other acting things, he was in Abigail, and a few other movies, so his style, he can change
02:50his style, he seems to be a fantastic actor, and I'll tell you what he plays in a minute,
02:58but there's another actress, Hunter, and she's a wonderful, can't say her last name, but
03:05she's a young actress, only 25, hasn't really been in too many movies, and I've never seen
03:11her in anything before, she's one of the main actresses in this, and she's absolutely incredible,
03:19just incredible in this, and I was like, whoa, and a lot of these young actresses and actors
03:26have been popping out of nowhere lately, so if you check out some of my previous reviews,
03:32I do mention them, but I'm talking about this movie today, right now, a horror thriller movie,
03:39now, don't watch the trailer, the trailer sort of gives away too much, especially if you're a
03:45horror fan, you might be able to figure it out, because I couldn't figure this out, it was a weird
03:51movie, some people think it was kind of funny, I was like, I didn't find it funny, I found it more
03:58freaky, weird, twisted, kind of like the movie Jacob's Ladder, not the remake, the original,
04:07and I was like, hmm, it even had a sort of a feel of Flatliners, come to think of it,
04:12the original Flatliners, so what the movie was about, right away, you see wonderful shadow work,
04:21and two people arguing, but you don't really see them, you see the shadow, and you see they're
04:27screaming at each other, something is going on, and it's in the middle of the woods, in a cabin,
04:33then you see this other woman start shaking, and she gets up, and it looks like she's
04:38just standing there twitching, and twitching, and she can't control her twitching, then she just
04:48goes nuts, and she hears something, and she runs in the woods, and I was like, whoa,
04:55that was freaky, and the way that was filmed was amazing, the cinematography, even the music
05:03was spot on, the theme music actually creeped me out, I couldn't stop watching, then you see a
05:11father driving a daughter, there's an older daughter, and a younger daughter, the younger
05:16daughter can't hear, and she doesn't really speak either, and the older daughter is going with the
05:26father to this small town, and as they're heading there, you could tell the older daughter doesn't
05:33really want to go, and that's the woman, Hunter, the actress's name is, I think Hunter, I can't
05:41pronounce her last name, and the way she, she was just incredible in it, she was pretty much in
05:47every scene, she was the main actors in this, she's going to a small town with her father,
05:54something happened, tragically, that I don't want to mention, but when she gets there,
06:00it's like a tourist attraction, it has like a resort, but the resort is kind of weird,
06:07there's stuff going on, and stuff going on at night, I'm trying to bite my lip, and not say
06:14too much more, but it has a 6.8 out of 10 on IMBD, and on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 7.8 percent,
06:26and it's only on a 7 million dollar budget, honestly, if you're creative, like this writer
06:34and director was, he's one of the same Tillman singer, he was incredible, I personally give this
06:42movie an 8.5 out of 10, and I'm sure it deserves higher from me, but there's little things I
06:49probably missed, I'll definitely re-watch it again, there's a lot involved here, now the woman
06:56meets Dan Stevens, his character, and he's a weird kind of character, kind of weird,
07:04he plays kind of like a weird guy, I guess some people might consider that kind of funny,
07:09but he was creepy, and he wanted her to work at his resort, and when she was, weird things were
07:17happening, I don't want to say anymore, because I really liked it, it's a really good thriller,
07:24and it's worth seeing in the movie, with the responses from other people in there,
07:28all right everyone, bye for now, unfortunately it didn't play in my hometown, so I'm so glad,
07:34I go back and forth to Toronto and here, and it was just worth it to see it in the theater,
07:41bye for now everyone, and oh yes, I gotta give you my review, I did, I think I did, I gave you an 8.5
07:48out of 10, and possibly higher, because I will watch it again, the cinematography and the music
07:53was spot on, and the scenes also weren't as dark, and when they were sort of dark, you saw shadows
07:59that I really liked, a creepy film, well worth it, check it out, too bad I can't say the name,
08:05but the poster will be at the back of me, bye for now, have an incredible day.
