00:00Hello everyone, this is Paul Branson Reviews and so much more.
00:06And today is a horror movie called Never Let Go, that I've never heard of it.
00:12I've never heard of it at all, and it's a brand new movie, 2024, it literally just came
00:16in theaters I think about a week or two ago.
00:18I saw it maybe three, four days ago now, and I had to think about what I was going to say
00:23about this film.
00:24Holly Berry is in it, and before I get into what it's literally about, I want to say that
00:31I love watching movies that I've never heard that were even coming in the theater.
00:35I was just walking around looking at stuff and I saw a poster for it.
00:42So I went in and it was actually going to play.
00:44So I figured, why not?
00:45So I get in there, I see two people sitting there and they're talking that it's a zombie
00:49movie and I was like, oh no, not another zombie movie.
00:52I was like, well as long as it's well done, I'll like it.
00:55Like of course I like Night of the Living Dead, and I like some zombie movies, but some
00:59are so cheesy I just, I kind of, I never even liked the TV series The Walking Dead, strangely
01:05enough.
01:06I wanted them to get more into certain things that they just didn't do.
01:10But now that being said, I got my popcorn, I got my drink and sat down.
01:14So there's only two people that were kind of like five seats up from me, and I like
01:18sitting more closer to the screen.
01:20So when it first came on, I've never waited so long for trailers to go by, at trailer
01:25after trailer.
01:26And they were boring trailers too, they weren't even entertaining.
01:29So finally the movie comes on.
01:30Now, now I'm going to get into the movie.
01:33This is my first reaction when I first saw The Sin of Photography.
01:37I went, wow, wow.
01:40The Sin of Photography blew my mind.
01:43Then you hear the wind, as you probably hear the wind in the background as I'm doing this
01:47review as well.
01:48That's why sometimes I like doing them outside.
01:50And today I'm actually in the dark and it could rain on me any second too.
01:54Who knows?
01:55It's supposed to rain, not till later, but you never know anymore.
01:59Now the creepy feel of this movie, that you see the woods and you see dead bodies or dead
02:09skeletons and cars.
02:11Now you see a cabin and it zooms in on Halle Berry and now you realize she has two kids.
02:19The world is different.
02:22The mother tells the kids what the world was and they believe her.
02:28So their life is very changed from the fabric of time, I guess I could say that.
02:35Fabric of time, their life was changed of something that happened that the children
02:40don't remember.
02:41Only she remembers.
02:43It gets a little bit more into certain things, but it doesn't have any flashbacks to the
02:49way the world was that I actually would have really liked in this film.
02:54I like Halle Berry, I thought she was a great actress and she was really good in this.
02:59I didn't even recognize it was her right away, even so her name was on the poster, but I
03:04figured they'd be more.
03:06So there's not a lot of actors in this movie, but the acting is really good and the two
03:10young kids, I've never seen act before, well maybe one of them, I just can't remember what
03:15the film was, maybe it was a recent one, but they're excellent actors, excellent and I
03:20can't wait until they grow up and do a lot more because they were fantastic in this horror
03:25suspense thriller movie.
03:28They were really good.
03:29Now the reviews for this is only a 5.7 out of 10 on IMBD.
03:36I can't remember what Rotten Tomatoes was, but I always put that in the back, I'll show
03:40that to you in the back of me there.
03:44Now as it was going on and they were discovering the world, at night, the creatures came out
03:52more at night and you see Halle Berry sitting on the porch with a rifle and they come talking
03:57to her, but they can't come in the house.
04:00I'm not going to tell you the reason why they can't come in the house.
04:03There is a reason, that's explained in the movie, and then during the day they look for
04:08food and they look like all weak, all tired, but also too now she punishes her children.
04:15I'm not going to say why she punishes them, thinking that something happened.
04:20I don't want to explain too much of the movie because it's a good mystery up to a point.
04:26After 45 minutes I was now getting bored.
04:30After 45 minutes in, there was 15 minutes there that bored me, and then as it started
04:36to come back of the way I wanted it to come, I couldn't get back into it.
04:43Now was the ending any good?
04:44I'm obviously not going to tell you the ending.
04:46Is there a twist of the ending?
04:47Yes, there is a twist of the ending, maybe if you're a horror fan and you like psychological
04:54stuff you may like it, and obviously I don't want to say the director.
04:58The director has done a lot of other things that I actually have liked him doing.
05:04Now I would have preferred a different ending, and I would have preferred a lot more happening.
05:11This to me felt more like after 45 minutes I wanted this to end in another 15-20 minutes,
05:18or it could have stretched out longer, because one boy was believing that the mother is not
05:22telling us the truth, because he's not seeing these creatures.
05:27That I'm going to say, the other boy believes the mother.
05:31So one boy sees creatures, but also the creatures manipulate you too.
05:36So you're not sure what's true, what's real, what's truly going on.
05:41That I liked, but for some reason after 45 minutes of not showing me, I started getting
05:47bored.
05:4815 minutes of wasted time was in this film.
05:51Then after that I couldn't get back into it.
05:54But the acting is really, really, really good, and the cinematography, and the ominous music,
06:00and even the wind in the background making things really creepy.
06:03The special effects, everyone that worked on this did a fantastic job, but I understand
06:07why it's 5.7.
06:09I personally would give this a 5.5 out of 10, maybe a 6, because the acting was so good,
06:18but I was very disappointed with the ending.
06:21Now to see this in the theater, you're going to see beautiful cinematography and stuff
06:24like that.
06:25But is it worth it?
06:28Not really.
06:30This should have been a Twilight Zone episode.
06:32This should have been an episode shortened, or take 15, 20 minutes out, or change it just
06:38a little bit more, and I'd love to see if they had an alternate ending to this, and
06:43changed it.
06:44I really would.
06:455.5 to a 6 out of 10 around that general area I would give this film.
06:54Holly Berry's fantastic in it though, and the children, I can't wait to see them act
06:58again.
06:59They were just incredible, and they really did tune me in.
07:01There were some really creepy scenes where they had to stay around the house when they
07:05were looking for food, and they were tied to rope.
07:07Don't want to say anymore.
07:08All right everyone, bye for now.
07:10Check this movie out.
07:12I would recommend checking it out at home.
07:15Some people love it, some people probably think like me.
07:19Bye for now.
07:20Have an incredible day, and thank you again for watching.
