00:06 Hello and welcome to a new year and a brand new guide to 5 things to do next week.
00:10 Decorations should be down by the 5th or 6th, depending on your tradition.
00:14 So now what do you do?
00:16 Well, I've found you 5 things to keep you entertained and we start in Blackpool with
00:20 news that the hugely successful Christmas by the Sea Festive Village is to remain open
00:24 for another week until Sunday, January 7th.
00:28 The Seafront Village, which includes a free-to-use skating rink, was originally scheduled to close
00:32 on January 1st.
00:33 However, with many schools not reopening until Monday 8th, the village will now stay open
00:37 from noon to 9pm every day until Sunday 7th January, with free skating until 8pm.
00:44 The 6-mile illuminations display will also remain lit every night.
00:48 The village, located at the Tower Festival headland, includes a wide range of food and
00:52 drink cabins, a selection of themed children's attractions, as well as a 100ft long snow
00:57 slide and the spectacular Star Flyer, which, at 196ft tall, is one of Europe's tallest
01:04 swing rides.
01:05 The village also features light installations, projection shows and artificial snowfall.
01:10 And while we're keeping Christmas going just that little bit longer, Burnley Pantomime
01:15 Society are presenting Aladdin at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre, packed with comedy, great
01:19 music, stunning scenery, wonderful costumes, heroes, villains, audience participation and
01:24 all the excitement that only pantomime can provide.
01:28 The season starts on the 12th and there's dates right up until the 21st of January,
01:32 with tickets priced at £14.
01:36 And if panto's your thing, how about Rapunzel at the Atkinson Theatre in Southport.
01:41 All Souls Dramatic Club have been performing at the Atkinson since the mid-1970s and promise
01:46 to bring a spectacular and magical pantomime.
01:49 Their season runs between the 11th and 21st of January.
01:52 Tickets for that one are £15.
01:56 Back to Blackpool now for the West Coast Folk Festival at the Town's Winter Gardens.
01:59 The three-day event is on from the 12th to the 14th and 33 acts will perform over three
02:04 stages.
02:05 Some of the acts so far to be announced include the incredible Steve Harley Acoustic Band,
02:10 Eddie Reader and Tom Robinson Band and many, many more.
02:13 A weekend ticket for that will cost you £185.20.
02:19 And also at the Winter Gardens on the 11th of January, Jimmy Love brings his Elton John
02:23 tribute show called Rocketman.
02:25 Enjoy a journey through Elton's life and career with two hours of glorious hits.
02:29 And there's three price levels for that one starting at around £30.
02:34 Who said January's a dull month?
02:35 Join me next week for another 5 Things To Do, but until then, take care and I'll see
02:39 you next time.
