00:00 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 things to do and this time we're looking at
00:09 the 20th to the 26th of November. And as we edge ever closer to December and the social
00:14 calendars are filling up, the events listings are getting longer, but I've whittled it down
00:18 to these fine 5 things to do next week. Now, it's been the best part of 30 years since
00:23 Darren Day took Lancashire by storm with a season of summer holiday at the Winter Gardens
00:27 in Blackpool. And the good news is that he's back this time in Everybody's Talking About
00:31 Jamie. Jamie New is 16 and he lives on a council estate in Sheffield. He doesn't quite fit
00:37 in, he's terrified about the future, but he is going to be a sensation. Supported by his
00:41 brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats
00:46 the bullies and steps out of the darkness into the spotlight. It's a funny, fabulous
00:50 feel-good show with the original score of catchy pop tunes. It's a sparkling coming-of-age
00:55 musical and you can catch it from the 21st of November until the 25th. And off-peak prices
01:00 are from £20.70, peak performances are from £23.50.
01:06 Now Christmas wouldn't be the same without a version of a Charles Dickens classic tale,
01:09 so luckily the Dukes Theatre in Lancaster are putting on a very special musical of A
01:14 Christmas Carol between the 24th of November and the 31st of December. Unwrap the magic
01:19 this season with a musical adaptation featuring toe-tapping music, festive fun and a touch
01:23 of Christmas magic. This heartwarming and uplifting tale of redemption is the perfect
01:28 festive treat for the whole family. Tickets are from £16.
01:32 And staying in Lancaster, the week ahead also sees the start of Lancaster on Ice. An award-winning
01:37 and internationally recognised event returns to the historic Dalton Square in the heart
01:41 of the city. Expect Christmas market stalls, giant teepee bars, an 800m real ice ice rink
01:48 and a giant ferris wheel. It's on from the 25th of November through to the first week
01:52 of January. And there's a range of skating ticket prices over at lancasteronice.co.uk.
02:00 To Burnley next for live music as the ultimate Rod Stewart tribute concert arrives at the
02:04 Burnley Mechanics Theatre. Audiences will be taken on a magical journey of over five
02:08 decades of non-stop hits including Sailing, You're In My Heart, First Cut Is The Deepest,
02:13 Maggie May, Downtown Train and many, many more. An unmissable evening for Rod fans on
02:18 the 24th of November and ticket prices are £28.50.
02:23 And more music to round off this week, this time at the King George's Hall in Blackburn
02:27 where you can see Shalimar who are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their Friends album
02:32 by performing the entire album live in concert for the first time in their history. Friends
02:37 is a platinum-selling album featuring four top 20 hit singles and night to remember,
02:42 Friends, There It Is and I Can Make You Feel Good. The songs were huge and dominated the
02:47 clubs and radio alike and you can see them live on Wednesday 22nd November from £29.50.
02:53 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas isn't it? Join me next week for another
02:57 Five Things To Do but until then, do take care and I'll see you next time.
