00:00 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 things to do and we are just weeks away from
00:09 those clocks going back which is probably something you don't want to think about so
00:12 here's 5 lovely things happening next week to distract you from darkness and misery.
00:17 One town that certainly won't be dark or miserable is Blackpool because from the 20th to the
00:21 28th of October their superb Lightpool Festival returns to inspire, amaze and generally brighten
00:27 the place up.
00:28 Blackpool will become an artistic playground where outdoor spaces and iconic buildings
00:32 will be enchanted with mesmerising lightworks.
00:36 Brace yourself for a visual extravaganza featuring electrifying world and UK premieres.
00:41 There are 4 zones across the town packed with incredible displays including projections,
00:46 light clouds and performances which are all free to enjoy and you can find a map of the
00:50 art trail and what you can see online now.
00:53 And if you time it right you can be there at the same time as the final instalment of
00:57 the World Fireworks Championships because on Friday the 20th of October Italy will be
01:02 trying their hand at lighting up the sky to music.
01:05 Performing will be a company who were founded in 1869 as a response to architects who wanted
01:10 to illuminate the facades of churches and buildings on special occasions.
01:14 Since then generation after generation has continued a tradition of hand crafting fireworks
01:19 which is still made for displays at its factory in Florence.
01:23 The display is free and will start around about 8.30pm.
01:28 Right music next as we head to Southport and the Atkinson Theatre where you'll find the
01:31 country superstars on Friday the 20th at 7.30pm.
01:35 This truly unique show tells the diverse story of country music.
01:39 Your host for the evening is Europe's leading tribute to the Queen of Country Sarah Jane
01:43 who has been performing as Dolly Parton for the last two decades.
01:47 Sarah Jane is accompanied by award winning vocal impersonator Andy Crust.
01:51 So they will take us on a journey back through time meeting some of the most influential
01:55 icons who shaped country music history.
01:57 Tickets are priced at £24.
02:01 Now enough of this light hearted fun because October of course brings Halloween and if
02:05 you're feeling brave enough you could step inside Johnny's Fear Factory which is in Morecambe.
02:10 Amongst other terrifying things you'll come face to face with those who roam the underworld
02:14 on a ghost train experience, an electrifying laser tag game which promises more of a shock
02:19 than you bargained for and a hallway of horrors.
02:22 It's on from the 20th of October to the 5th of November.
02:25 There are toned down versions for younger visitors too, a bar area, a more traditional
02:29 fairground and a range of prizes including single and family sessions so have a look
02:34 at johnny's-fearfactory.com.
02:35 It's johnny's-fearfactory.com.
02:36 You'll find it if you're daft enough.
02:42 Right let's not leave Burnley out because on the 20th of October the Mechanics Theatre
02:46 are holding Totally Tina. This breathtaking tribute to Tina Turner celebrates the amazing
02:51 life and work of the Queen of Rock and Roll.
02:54 Supported by her dazzling Dancing Girls in Sequins, Feathers and Diamonds, Justine recreates
02:59 and remembers those famed live performances for one night only.
03:03 Starts at 6.30 and it'll cost you £25.50.
03:08 Can't say fairer than that.
03:09 Whatever you get up to, have a great week, stay safe and join me next time for another
03:12 5 Things To Do.
03:13 See you then.
