00:00 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to five things to do and look can you believe it the
00:09 sun is shining at last so we best make the most of it with some things to do out and
00:13 about in and around Lancashire. Firstly Burnley Light Opera are presenting Young Frankenstein
00:19 at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre. Full of brilliant musical numbers this electrifying
00:24 adaptation of Mel Brooks's monstrously funny film will leave you in stitches. Grandson
00:29 of the infamous Dr Frankenstein, Dr Frederick Frankenstein inherits a castle in Transylvania
00:35 leading him to fulfil his grandfather's legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. There's
00:40 various dates between the 11th of August and the 18th of November and tickets are priced
00:44 at £22. We go back in time next to Wartime Lytham where they're holding their 1940s weekend.
00:52 It's a free to visit event with singing, dancing, vehicle parades, fashion shows and so much
00:57 more. The entertainment marquee situated on Lytham Green has two days of free entertainment
01:02 from 10 till 5 each day and a licensed 40s bar. There'll also be military vehicles, music
01:08 and dance in Clifton Square in the town centre with a resident 40s DJ. It all happens on
01:13 the weekend of the 19th and 20th of August. Right who wants a fight? No I'm not being
01:20 unnecessarily aggressive but instead Preston City Wrestling will once again be making their
01:24 return to the city's flag market. A great spectacle of match brawls outside in the summer
01:29 sun hopefully with a colourful display of strength and aerial acrobatics. Between 11
01:34 and 1 there'll be Open Ring Live featuring up and coming talent from the academy and
01:39 from 2 till 4 there's a full live show featuring talent from around the world. It's another
01:43 free event and it's on Saturday the 19th of August. Now then who has a head for heights?
01:50 As on several dates in August you can take a tour around St Walburgers Church in Preston
01:55 learning all about its compelling history and climb the third tallest spire in the UK.
02:00 The spire delivers panoramic views of Preston and is a fantastic way to appreciate the church's
02:05 architecture and the city all around it. These special events are on from 2 till 5 on the
02:11 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th of August and tickets are just £10. Lastly who remembers the band
02:20 Big Country? Well if you do you might recall their iconic 1983 debut album The Crossing
02:26 and as it's now 40 years since that was released they're celebrating with a live concert at
02:30 the Platform in Morecambe. Big Country broke massively worldwide with the release of the
02:35 album's classic singles Fields of Fire, Chance and their signature song In a Big Country
02:41 which went on to become a massive worldwide hit selling over 2 million copies and driving
02:45 the Crossing to three prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA. You can catch them live on Friday
02:51 the 18th of August for £35 a ticket. There you are, plenty going on as usual, let's just
02:58 hope this sunshine lasts. I'll be back next week for another 5 Things to Do but in the
03:02 meantime whatever you're getting up to have a fabulous week and I'll see you next time.
