00:05 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to
00:07 Five Things to Do and not only is it the
00:09 summer holidays but we're heading into
00:11 another bank holiday weekend. Remember
00:13 them? It's bound to rain but let's not let
00:15 that put us off finding five things to
00:18 do. Starting with on the 24th and the 25th
00:21 of August, Doggie will be exploring the
00:23 Bury Transport Museum. Bring your young
00:26 squirrels to meet Doggie at intervals on
00:28 each day and that's not all. The family
00:30 fun continues with a selection of funfair
00:32 rides, face painting and craft activities
00:35 all included in the ticket price so make
00:37 the most of your visit. Complete your day
00:40 out with a ride on one of the Heritage
00:41 steam or diesel trains throughout the
00:44 Irwell Valley. Tickets for adults are £16
00:48 and £15 for children and that includes a
00:50 ride on any train services on the day of
00:52 your visit. Live music next as the
00:56 Ferret Pub in Preston brings its
00:58 legendary original indoor Turfed Festival
01:01 back for its 16th year and it's bigger and
01:03 better than ever. Glaston Ferret is four
01:06 days filled with massive lineup of
01:08 amazing acts and it even comes with real
01:11 grass and hay bales installed throughout
01:13 the whole of the inside of the pub. Guest
01:16 craft ales, cider and summer drinks on
01:18 tap, fantastic festival food vendors, DJ
01:21 sessions and crafty stalls in the
01:23 extended outdoor area and late night
01:26 after parties taking you through to the
01:27 early hours. Events run from Thursday
01:30 night of the 24th until Sunday night of
01:33 the 28th. There's a huge lineup on their
01:35 website to have a look at from special
01:37 guest headliners to local legends,
01:39 outdoor DJ sessions to massive live
01:42 shows. Glaston Ferret 2023 promises to
01:45 be an absolute belter. Tickets are 16.50
01:48 for days and full four-day weekend.
01:51 Ticket will cost you £66. More music now
01:55 as the much-loved St Anne's on the Sea
01:57 music festival returns for its second
01:59 year to its home of Ashton Gardens.
02:01 August bank holiday weekend, Friday the
02:03 25th through to Monday the 28th of
02:06 August. 20 bands will take to the main
02:08 stage under the marquee in the gardens
02:10 with the additional pavilion stage
02:12 providing more choice. The days are
02:15 loosely themed, Friday is a funk and soul,
02:17 Saturday is pop and party, Sunday is
02:20 prog rock and Monday is Britpop and the
02:23 60s. It's a free show and there's a range
02:26 of food and drink vendors along with a
02:27 varied selection of fairground rides
02:29 which will complement music and will
02:31 ensure a fun time for all. Thrills and
02:36 spills of soapbox racing next as we head
02:38 to Accrington Town Square on Saturday
02:40 the 26th of August. The incredibly
02:42 popular and free to attend soapbox
02:44 challenge will return to the delight of
02:46 the onlookers. A fast and frenetic race
02:49 down a 170 meter long track. Participants
02:52 will come across jumps, water pumps, pit
02:54 lanes and many more surprises along the
02:56 way. This year an interval will be added
02:59 between the karting and there'll be
03:00 anything from Brazilian style dancers
03:02 and a samba band, the Vuvuzelas and
03:04 performances from Bojangles and
03:06 Heimburn Comets majorettes. This is a
03:09 great chance to enjoy the August bank
03:11 holiday weekend in style. And lastly more
03:14 music as Cone in East Lancashire hosts
03:16 the return of the great British Rhythm
03:18 and Blues Festival. This year's festival
03:20 will run from Friday the 25th to Sunday
03:22 the 27th of August with a brilliant
03:24 range of live music across the town from
03:26 the main stages to all official fringe
03:29 venues and everywhere in between.
03:31 The star-studded lineup has been
03:33 announced for the event showcasing the very
03:35 best of blues music and the genre's
03:36 talented future stars. The festival will
03:39 feature over 30 artists across two
03:41 stages including the Pendle Hippodrome
03:44 and a brand new stage for 2023 the
03:46 Exchange Project Stage. Individual day
03:50 tickets start at just £30 while full
03:53 festival tickets are priced at £100 and
03:55 they say that's just £3 a band.
03:57 I'll get if you put it like that. Right,
04:00 off you go and enjoy yourselves. I'll see
04:01 you next time. See you then.
