00:09 [Greetings]
00:11 I am Garima and this is Gigi's Platter
00:13 And today we are going to make a very light meal
00:18 Which is called Khichdi
00:20 Which sounds like a food for sick people
00:22 But well, this khichdi can be eaten by healthy people also
00:26 It is made in our homes a lot, specially because it has garlic
00:30 I love the flavour of garlic
00:32 My aunt loved it when I ate it for the first time
00:36 I am sure you will also like it
00:38 There is tomato in this, which is not normally found in khichdi
00:42 There is Arhar Dal
00:44 You can use Moong Dal if you want
00:46 There is rice, garlic, a little ghee
00:50 And the spices that are added are there
00:52 So let's get going and make Garlic Tomato Khichdi
00:57 And first of all, we will put the dal and rice in the cooker
01:04 The measurement of khichdi is that the quantity of rice you take should be half of the quantity of dal
01:15 Otherwise, if you take more dal, the taste will not be good
01:20 So as you can see, I took a big bowl of rice
01:24 So I will take half a bowl of dal
01:27 Let's add water in this also
01:31 The water should be enough for the dal and rice to soak
01:34 And on top of that, half a finger of water should be more
01:39 Now we will add salt and half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
01:55 Mix it well
01:57 Turn on the flame
02:01 Now we are going to add the main ingredient, which is tomato
02:06 So these are two tomatoes which are ground
02:10 You can add it by squeezing it
02:13 This will enhance the color and taste
02:17 It will give a tangy flavor
02:19 So again, mix it well
02:21 And now it will whistle for me
02:25 Three whistles
02:28 And we shall wait
02:31 So the cooker has whistled for me
02:34 Now I have to check whether my khichdi is soft or not
02:37 Whether my khichdi is cooked or not
02:39 So yes, it is absolutely ready for the tadka
02:46 So we will mix it well first
02:53 And because the khichdi should be a little softer and a little soft
02:57 What we will do is, we shall add some water
03:02 And we will mash it a little
03:08 And we will heat it
03:11 And as it is heating, we will mash it into a real thing
03:15 We will get it to the stage where it is soft
03:23 And as you add water, it will soak and become thick
03:29 As you can see, the water has disappeared
03:32 We will add some more water
03:34 We will mix it well again
03:36 The tadka that we will add, the elders will enjoy eating it more
03:40 And as always said, the chef is the one who will taste it in between
03:45 And see whether there is enough salt in it or not
03:49 A little less salt
03:51 We will add a little salt
03:53 Mix it well
03:55 And we will keep it aside
03:57 And we will prepare our garlic tadka
03:59 Because this is a garlic tomato khichdi
04:02 So the pan is hot
04:06 We are adding butter to it
04:08 You can also add ghee if you want
04:11 Or oil, but I would prefer butter or ghee because that gives a better flavour
04:18 And as the butter melts, add a lot of finely chopped garlic
04:24 And we will brown it
04:26 And till it turns brown
04:30 Because it will go as a garnish, it will not be available in the khichdi
04:34 So we will get ready for the plating
04:37 We have to brown the garlic more
04:40 It should change its colour
04:42 As you can see, some of the garlic has started to turn brown
04:46 Till then we will keep the plate ready
04:52 Now we will add red chilli powder
04:55 And we will roast it on a low flame
05:03 If you roast it on a high flame, it will get burnt
05:06 And the chawk will stick to the pan
05:09 So do it on a very low flame
05:12 And our tadka is ready
05:20 We will put it on the khichdi
05:23 The way to eat this khichdi is
05:29 You have to mix the tadka with the khichdi
05:32 And enjoy it
05:34 And as you can see, and as I told you earlier
05:37 This is not just a khichdi for the sick
05:41 You can eat this khichdi whenever you feel like
05:46 Garlic tomato khichdi
05:48 On Gigi's Platter
05:50 And I am sure you are going to subscribe before you like or comment
05:55 And if you have not shared, this time I am going to get angry with you
06:00 I am sure you don't want me to get angry
06:02 So share it first, then comment and enjoy this khichdi
06:07 Till the next recipe, take care. Bye Bye
06:10 Bye-bye.
