00:41 Master Universe 1/6 scale figure line.
00:44 The Wizard of Weapons joins our other formidable evil warriors including Scareglow, Merman,
00:49 and Faker.
00:50 Complete with 30 points of articulation and an extensive array of accessories, plus a
00:54 fully swappable Cronus head, Classic head, and Cronus arm.
00:58 That better not move too slow or I might find myself missing some digits.
01:02 Before of course we get a closer look at the brand new Master Universe Trapjaw 1/6 scale
01:06 deluxe timed edition, I'd like to thank the folks first over at Mondo that did provide
01:09 this sample we could have a look at.
01:12 At the time of shooting this review, the figure unfortunately has sold out for the $2.35 asking
01:16 price over on their site.
01:18 They had also listed a classic version of Trapjaw that had more the familiar filmation
01:23 colors but that also had sold out at $2.35.
01:26 Your likelihood now of getting this guy, you can either go on their waiting list if the
01:30 chance ever comes where they stock this guy again, or you can also go the route of trying
01:34 to find this guy in the aftermarket.
01:36 Either way though, I'm going to grab the tape measure and in a second as well I'll
01:39 bring in a couple of figures for comparison.
01:40 Trapjaw though stands about 11.5 inches in height, or the figure is about 29.5 cm tall.
01:48 Well as big as a bad guy may be, he always still tends to have a boss.
01:51 And when it comes to Trapjaw's boss, here's what the figure looks like with the Revelation
01:54 Skeletor.
01:56 We are also going to be getting ourselves a deluxe version of Skeletor that's going
01:59 to be coming out pretty soon.
02:00 Definitely looking forward to having a look at that one.
02:02 And as well, as soon as we did have a look at He-Man, He-Man seems to be the measuring
02:05 stick when it comes to these new 6 scale Master Universe releases from Mondo.
02:09 And here's what Trapjaw looks like with the most powerful man in the universe.
02:13 Figured first, we look at the figure's stand.
02:15 Trapjaw comes included with the same Mondo stand as we've gotten with releases before.
02:19 It's shaped in a way that you can see that has the Mondo logo on the bottom of it.
02:23 The only thing again about this is that I wish that they would be of a larger footprint
02:26 space, going maybe the route of a rectangular display stand or even just a circular stand
02:31 would be ideal.
02:32 Just because Trapjaw does have a wide stance to him and it only accommodates so much space
02:36 with the stand that they provide.
02:38 The stand of course, you just take your figure and fit it on top of it.
02:41 And again, it looks good.
02:43 I'm glad to see, of course, I'm always appreciative of the fact that any company includes a display
02:46 stand.
02:47 I just wish though that Trapjaw's was just a tad bit bigger.
02:51 One thing I'm sure you already have noticed is the fact I've got the figure displayed
02:54 right now with the Kronos head sculpt.
02:55 As the way he's been transformed into Trapjaw, I figured we'd also do the same here with
03:00 the figure release.
03:01 The figure comes in clue with three interchangeable head sculpts, just so again happens to be
03:05 the case that we're using with the Kronos head sculpt first, but the figure also comes
03:08 in clue with two alternate portraits.
03:10 One a more classic look to Trapjaw and then one slightly tweaked by Mondo's team.
03:15 With the armor also as well, it's swappable.
03:18 Right now I've got actually Kronos with just the shoulder pad.
03:21 Shoulder pad could technically be also removed.
03:23 Let's pick the figure up and get a closer look first at the head sculpt for Kronos.
03:27 Never will there be a time I could see myself wanting to display Trapjaw with this look.
03:31 Always again appreciate the fact that Super 7 include these extra head sculpts, but with
03:35 Trapjaw having such an interesting thing about his face being the fact he does have that
03:39 snapping jaw, I can't really even see myself ever really displaying the figure with Kronos.
03:44 The Kronos head sculpt though to be fair is quite good.
03:46 I like the sneer that he has on his mouth and the paint is handled so well here.
03:50 The helmet is something of course that's going to carry over to Trapjaw.
03:52 The only thing that's going to be different of course is the fact that on the top of Kronos's
03:56 head he has a point.
03:57 Trapjaw then gets the familiar loop afterwards that of course in the original toy line you
04:01 could run a string through it and you could have Trapjaw sliding down a rope cord.
04:05 The thing also I already mentioned is the fact that he does have a shoulder pad piece.
04:09 Technically the arms are removable, at least this side is.
04:12 If you did want to, you could for all intents and purposes remove the shoulder pad piece
04:15 altogether.
04:16 And then you could have Kronos displayed shirtless instead.
04:19 The thing though that ties everything together is the fact that he does have a shoulder that
04:22 has more already more of a cybernetic design to it.
04:25 So it kind of lends better I think to the idea of actually having him with the shoulder
04:28 pad piece.
04:29 The shoulder is actually more of a softer plastic.
04:32 It has some really interesting details that they've also added some gold and silver on
04:35 the inside there as well.
04:36 And again that just fits over top of his body.
04:39 Let's for right now at least we're going to pop this off.
04:41 We're going to put the shoulder pad back in place and we're going to put the arm back
04:45 in place at least for right now.
04:47 We'll eventually change things off in a second.
04:50 Again just quickly look once again at Kronos's head sculpt.
04:53 Fine looking head sculpt, just not my thing.
04:56 If though you wanted something a little bit more closer to a trap jaw, then he has two
05:00 variations to that.
05:01 One being more the classic sort of design with more the rectangular shaped clamping
05:06 jaw.
05:07 For that I'm going to of course take the head and remove it right now from the ball
05:10 peg provided.
05:11 It's a little hard at first the times you do this and then of course it gets a little
05:14 bit easier putting on more of the classic head.
05:17 This head sculpt actually was the one that came with the figure when you first get him
05:19 out of the packaging.
05:21 And again you've got more sort of that boxier mouth.
05:24 Does open and close and what's rather really neat about it is when you do open up the mouth
05:27 you can see what's left behind of his lower half, at least his lower half of his jaw.
05:31 A gruesome sight to see.
05:33 All the more reason I think you would want to really have the trap always closed.
05:36 Now there's this variation of his head and then there's also this version.
05:40 You can definitely see has a much boxier bottom.
05:43 Really like this head sculpt I think a lot more.
05:45 Face wise though, if I just bring this mouth down, I'm going to bring this mouth down.
05:49 If you were to say look at the two from basically like, well everything other than really just
05:54 the clamping jaw, everything else still looks to be about the same.
05:57 The ringlet on the top is the same.
05:59 It looks like also as well the helmets are sharing the same sculpt and also could be
06:02 said as well for the faces.
06:03 They look to be identical.
06:05 I just personally prefer the larger looking clamping jaw myself.
06:09 So for that I'm going to go ahead and just pop this head off once again and replace it
06:13 with what I feel to be the best of the three.
06:15 Making sure of course you get that completely in place.
06:18 This head sculpt again much has a much wider looking jaw.
06:21 It definitely looks a lot more sinister.
06:23 Now for me when it comes to displaying this guy, I would really like to have the trap
06:26 further up like this, but boy is that ever a really nice looking portrait.
06:30 The paint that's been handled here, you can see like there's a few little notches and
06:33 indentations to the actual helmet and boy the use of this darker kind of burgundy color
06:38 works really well with the figure's overall look and presence.
06:42 The head sculpt of course is one thing that's going to then want to, you may want to change
06:45 the other things to match and follow suit.
06:47 So we're first of all going to take the arm and we're going to just detach it.
06:50 It's quite easy in fact, you're just going to remove it from the ball joint and then
06:53 we're going to take the very large robotic arm instead.
06:56 It plugs in exactly the same way.
06:58 You don't even have to worry really about the shoulder pad.
06:59 You're going to want to keep that in place anyways and then that plugs just into the
07:03 provided hole and now we're getting a little bit closer looking like Trap Jaw.
07:06 The only thing that's really left then to do, get the figure here to stand, is he does
07:11 also have a shoulder harness piece that's going to attach essentially to the shoulder
07:15 pad and it's going to slide up the side of his arm.
07:17 So what we're going to do first is I'll show you guys what that looks like.
07:20 You want to make sure that when you are putting it on the figure that this little ringlet
07:23 sits on the back of the figure's torso.
07:25 You don't even have to really do any dismantling either.
07:27 You're simply just going to slide this up his arm and then on the side you'll see right
07:32 here, hopefully you guys can see, there's a couple of holes on the side of his shoulder
07:35 pad.
07:36 You want to take these pieces, similar to in fact the harness for Battle Cat, kind of
07:41 work the exact same way and you want to as well make sure that's plugged down onto the
07:44 back of the figure's body as well.
07:45 So just going to plug those both in place.
07:48 Now Trap Jaw is finally finished and the overall look and presence, boy this guy looks like
07:53 a serious threat to He-Man and obviously he has right now the clamping hand but he has
07:58 of course several other hands that we'll have also have a look at as well.
08:01 Speaking also of hands, something I probably should have touched the base a little bit
08:04 on first before we actually start swapping out things, the figure comes in clear with
08:07 closed fists.
08:08 It will help to be on this side, we'll do nothing at all to help on this side because
08:12 of course we already changed out Cronus's arm.
08:14 So again you can easily just pop this off and swap it out with this hand sculpt instead.
08:20 The figure as well comes in clear with a big very sharp pointed mace.
08:24 Mace is obviously in this case going to be better suited on this side of the figure's
08:27 body.
08:28 It's nicely been cast here in a green plastic and all of the individual spikes, they're
08:33 pretty prickly, are all painted nicely here in silver and again this just fits onto his
08:37 hand.
08:38 The only thing about it though is the few times I've actually attached it into his
08:40 hand, it's chipped off as you can see a little bit of the paint.
08:45 So I'm sure the more times that you're doing it, the more times that that's probably
08:48 going to start to flake off the paint.
08:50 Still though it's a nice interesting looking mace.
08:52 All right let's talk all about the things that are going to swap out with the existing
08:55 hand.
08:56 As it is right now, the figure has the clamping claw.
08:59 The claw is something that can be swapped out.
09:02 It has on its own by the way articulation so you can move it up and down this way and
09:05 you can also rotate it this way as well.
09:07 If you wanted to detach it though, it's just a case of holding onto the forearm, it's
09:11 holding on maybe from the side here, and we're just going to pop this off the peg.
09:15 It's going to squeak a lot of times when you're doing this.
09:17 Just pop that off like that and then of course this can go somewhere else.
09:20 We'll kind of get more into that more in a moment.
09:23 Then the figure comes in clue with all these extra arm attachments.
09:26 He has a blaster for example, very reminiscent of the original toy line.
09:29 Some additional nice scratchings of silver that's been added to the otherwise all dark
09:33 gunmetal gray.
09:35 Again that just pops in place.
09:36 The figure also has as well a very large claw hand.
09:39 I guess by now we wouldn't really say it's a hand, it's just a claw.
09:42 Some additional gold's been also added to the bottom of it.
09:45 Really nice looking claw hand.
09:46 The figure also has as well a hook.
09:49 The interesting thing about the hook is that it can detach and once it's detached, it
09:53 actually attaches then to the rest of the arm via a string.
09:57 The string was wrapped up.
09:59 I'm demonstrating right now.
10:00 It was wrapped up when you first took it out of its packaging.
10:03 I just unraveled it a bit and just plugged it in place.
10:07 All of these have, as you probably have already noticed, have the little hooks on the side.
10:11 So those can also attach onto the figure's body for the ones at least that aren't going
10:14 to be displayed with this forearm.
10:16 The figure also as well comes in clue with a crossbow.
10:19 It's a very interesting looking crossbow as it doesn't look like it actually shoots
10:22 arrows but it shoots more likely laser blasts.
10:26 It's really nicely been painted.
10:28 It almost kind of looks more like something that would be displayed with Hordak.
10:31 Really like the use of this crimson red that they've used.
10:33 It's actually quite close in fact to the color that they used for his helmet.
10:37 And then the funniest of the things that come included with Trap Jaw is he comes with an
10:40 intergalactic fly swatter.
10:43 I don't think it was actually called an intergalactic fly swatter.
10:46 I just felt the need to add intergalactic on the end of that.
10:49 But it is a big giant fly swatter.
10:51 I hate to see the size of flies in Eternia.
10:54 Any one of these, by the way, can again just be attached.
10:56 All of them do have holes on the ends provided and then that fits onto the peg that's right
11:00 there.
11:01 Let's choose one that we're going to stick with here.
11:03 I kind of like honestly the laser blaster or I'm kind of leaning also towards the hook.
11:09 Either one of these again just plug onto the end of the cannon or plug onto the end of
11:12 the forearm.
11:13 And they are quite squeaky though when you are doing it.
11:16 Now like with the original toy, all these other ones that you aren't currently using,
11:20 you can see it on the end of them, they all have hooks.
11:22 Well if you take the figure for example and you spin it around, all across the front of
11:27 the back of his belt actually has these little looplets.
11:29 Now these can actually be lifted up.
11:31 And then you can take the hooks of all the things left behind and they just plug in place.
11:35 So you can basically have all his extra weapons wielded, not in his arms necessarily, but
11:40 all around his belt.
11:41 He also has one here right at the very top where his shoulder strap would be.
11:45 Again, just depending on which one you would like to really then use.
11:48 Let's say for example if you want to use like the crossbow and put that in there.
11:50 Again that just attaches in place.
11:52 They aren't the most secure though.
11:54 Moving the figure around, especially like this one right here, it's very prone to popping
11:57 whatever you attach onto it off.
11:59 But at least there's a place to store those accessories when you're not currently using
12:03 them.
12:04 As we move kind of everything out of the way, I did again want to look back and look at
12:07 Trap Jaw here.
12:08 The head sculpt, as already mentioned, is fantastic.
12:11 Preferring this one of the three, I mean again it does have articulation, of course you can't
12:15 open and close the mouth.
12:16 We'll talk all more about the articulation in a second.
12:18 I did certainly want to show you the size of his arm.
12:21 This arm is huge.
12:23 What's rather interesting about this, I'm just going to go ahead and remove his fly
12:25 swatter.
12:27 I did say it was a harder thing for these actually to stay in place and yet the fly
12:30 swatter was giving me a tough time.
12:31 Anyways, you can though move the arm and the neat thing about it though is it actually
12:35 does have a little piston.
12:37 It moves back and forth.
12:38 The only downside to it though is when you move it too far back, it kind of gives away,
12:41 it spoils a little some of it because you can kind of see it in the post sticking out
12:46 the top.
12:47 But there's a nice little pulley system that they've also added there as well.
12:49 Some decent articulation also as well for this arm.
12:51 I mean the fact that it does have like all the same retained articulation as Cronus'
12:55 arm from before, it's just again a much meaner looking arm.
12:58 More akin again definitely to Trapjaw.
13:00 Of course the rest of the lower half of the figure's body, he does have the large belt.
13:04 Really like the additional skull and crossbones.
13:06 They painted in there nicely with the additional gold.
13:09 He has himself skirting.
13:10 Now the skirting on the side and on the front here is a softer plastic.
13:14 Again handling that same sort of dark burgundy color as his helmet but also adding some additional
13:18 gold in there as well.
13:19 If you were to lift the hood, what you'll actually see underneath is a furry loincloth.
13:23 This is made of basically just a soft kind of faux fur material.
13:27 And that of course covers over top of his regular loincloth that's just underneath
13:31 that.
13:32 Decently detailed as well.
13:33 You've got all the nice green there, open sections on his thighs.
13:36 Painted it again with some additional brushing of gold.
13:38 And again like all the classic things for Trapjaw, he has very large clunky looking
13:42 feet that still manages to retain all the same articulation as the other Master Universe
13:46 figures we've looked at before.
13:48 Speaking of articulation, going all the way back to the head sculpt here for Trapjaw,
13:51 we're going to start our things there.
13:53 For the posability on Trapjaw, the head is going to be on ball joint.
13:56 So it rotates the head all the way around.
13:58 You can have the head looking up this far or you can have the head looking down that
14:02 far.
14:03 It really isn't going to be as much of a range just because again the size and the
14:05 limitations for his helmet sculpt.
14:07 But you can also rock the head back and forth.
14:09 We've already established the fact the figure does have a mouth articulation point so you
14:12 can move the jaw up and down that way.
14:14 As for his arms, now this arm is going to rotate all the way around and it's going
14:18 to hinge out.
14:19 But it's only going to hinge out about that far.
14:22 This arm on the other hand does do the exact same.
14:24 It rotates all the way around but you can actually bring this one out a lot more.
14:28 Almost at 90 degrees.
14:30 This one has a swivel in the bicep.
14:32 This one also has a bend in the elbow.
14:33 Just a single hinge and you can rotate the hand all the way around.
14:36 While this side of his body actually has a swivel right here where his bicep normally
14:40 would have been.
14:41 There's the piston hinge there for the elbow and then whatever attachment you then display
14:45 him with can also rotate.
14:47 Technically, by the way, it's just attached by peg.
14:49 The upper torso on Trap Jaw is a little harder to get to just because again he's got the
14:53 shoulder harness here.
14:55 In all intensive purposes, for all intensive purposes, you'd be able to rotate his body
14:58 back and forth.
14:59 But every single time I've done this, what I end up ultimately doing is detaching the
15:03 shoulder strap.
15:04 So I want to make sure I've just plugged that back in place.
15:07 I kind of in a way wish that the pegs were a little bit longer so they would actually
15:11 penetrate a little deeper into the actual shoulder pad section and less likely to be
15:15 detached.
15:16 The figure also has a ball joint at the base of the body.
15:18 It's a little harder to kind of see because he's actually got the belt in the way.
15:21 Legs do split out that far on Trap Jaw.
15:24 You can take the legs and move them forward.
15:25 You can move them back.
15:26 He has a swivel at the top of the thigh.
15:28 The figure has a double hinge on the knee, which is really good to see.
15:31 And then the figure has again all the same retained articulation in the ankle, moving
15:35 not only up and down this way, but also back and forth as well.
15:39 Trap Jaw was one, as soon as I saw images of him online, I was definitely looking forward
15:43 to seeing him in person.
15:44 And in person, he definitely does deliver.
15:46 Again, whether you decide to display him, say for example, with the Revelation Skeletor,
15:50 if you're lucky enough to have the original Mondo Skeletor, or if you got yourself lined
15:54 up to get yourself the new Skeletor that we will be getting pretty soon, in fact.
15:59 Trap Jaw is a nice looking piece.
16:00 Now, earlier in the reviews that we've looked at for Mondo Master Universe, I also had a
16:03 look at Merman and Faker.
16:04 I really should have brought those guys in as well for comparisons.
16:07 If you're looking for Skeletor's cronies, we also now have Trap Jaw to add to the mix
16:11 as well.
16:12 Trap Jaw, as always the case, when it comes to Mondo, they throw in tons of accessories.
16:16 Some accessories, to be all honest, aren't ones I'm really going to be displaying with
16:19 the figure.
16:20 While I do appreciate, again, the work, the time, and the sculpt that they put into Cronus's
16:23 head, never will it be a case that's going to be going onto the neck joint.
16:26 Rather though, instead, I'm either going to be displaying him with more of the classic
16:29 looking Trap Jaw head that kind of has, again, like the closer looking jaw, but by far my
16:33 favorite is the one that has the wider jaw.
16:35 Nice looking Trap Jaw, all in all.
16:38 And the hardest thing really about the figure is just choosing, really, which arm attachment
16:42 you wanted to go with.
16:43 Now, say, for example, we did start things off with the claw attachment.
16:46 Any one of those things can easily be swapped out onto the figure, and the beauty of it
16:50 is like with the original toy, anything that you're currently not using, snap, snap, can
16:54 simply then just attach onto the belt that's with the figure.
16:58 What is usually the case when it comes to Mondo's six scale figures is that the company,
17:01 to their credit, throw in so many extra accessories that you as a collector then have to choose
17:05 how I'm going to be displaying the figure.
17:06 Well, most of the time, all of the time, the figure only has two hands.
17:09 So when it comes to all those extra weapons, you have to then choose the ones you want
17:12 to display with the figure, and then everything else, everything else has to ultimately go
17:15 back into the tray.
17:17 Other than really the Kronos head sculpt and the non-used Trap Jaw head, and of course
17:21 his arm, everything else, luckily, to his credit, can be displayed on Trap Jaw.
17:25 Like the original retro toy, he has all these little ringlets that he has all around the
17:29 back of his belt that can store and house all the weapons that aren't currently attached
17:33 onto his robotic arm.
17:35 One thing I would though say is if you're looking to display him with everything, the
17:38 crossbow honestly works the best attached onto the back of his body.
17:42 If you try to put it onto his belt, well, the crossbow gets in really close quarters
17:46 to everything else that's around it.
17:48 So it's really better just to use the crossbow and attach it onto the back of the figure's
17:51 body.
17:52 I love the look of Trap Jaw, and apparently other collectors agree.
17:55 Trap Jaw sold out pretty fast over on their site, and considering as well that all these
17:59 figures are going for around that $230 to $240 price point, Trap Jaw on his own was
18:03 selling for $235.
18:04 I can certainly understand why he sold out so fast.
18:06 I would have loved to have gotten the more filmation design Trap Jaw also as well, but
18:10 like this one, it sold out right away for $235.
18:13 The price that they're asking for when it comes to these figures, considering all the
18:16 things that you get with these figures, I think Trap Jaw is well worth it if you had
18:20 the chance to get this guy for yourself.
