00:02 Here's a look at the Spiro Animal Warriors of the Kingdom Primal Series Kali Conquest Armor.
00:08 Reigning over all of the great animal houses, this tyrannical leader rules with an iron paw.
00:26 Just before we look at the self-appointed king of the animal kingdom,
00:30 I'd like to first thank the folks over at Spiro Toys that did provide this sample of Kali,
00:35 the Conquest Armor version, that we could have a look at in this review.
00:38 If you guys are interested and would like to see more from Spiro Toys,
00:41 you can go to www.spirotoys.com, including their line of Animal Warriors of the Kingdom.
00:47 Grabbing now the tape measure to see how tall the figure stands.
00:50 You're looking though at Kali standing about 6 1/2 inches in height,
00:55 or the figure is going to be about 17 centimeters tall.
00:59 To the figure's left are included accessories that were packed with him on the tray.
01:03 Though to the right were also packed inside of a little orange baggie that were actually underneath the tray.
01:08 So we want to make sure that when you're first removing Kali,
01:10 that you also take the time to go back and grab the orange bag,
01:13 because it will also include the hands as well.
01:16 He has as of right now attached onto his forearms gripping hands for holding his blades,
01:20 but he also has as well some clothes punching fists,
01:23 which are nicely detailed and very immaculately painted in this additional metallic gold.
01:28 If you like the look of this metallic gold, you're going to love that,
01:30 because it makes reappearances all across his armor as well.
01:33 The figure has also as well, I could best describe as mauling hands.
01:37 It looks almost like it's sculpted on the inside of his palm,
01:40 like some additional texturing or sculpting needed to be painted as well,
01:43 because he has a lot of the gold here on the outside.
01:46 He doesn't have any of it though painted on the inside,
01:48 and my guess is it probably was supposed to be painted in the same gold color,
01:52 or maybe even possibly in black.
01:54 It was left off though, and it may have also been left off deliberately,
01:57 because of course when he's going to be holding his accessories,
02:00 like for example his firepower,
02:01 you want to make sure of course that the paint isn't going to be rubbing off.
02:04 That might be deliberately why they decide not to paint the inside of the palm.
02:08 Oh, you're looking at that gun, aren't you?
02:09 One of the included accessories with Ka is the fact he comes with this really interesting looking gun.
02:15 Sort of has more of a steampunk design to it.
02:17 It's mostly cast here, I'm guessing in this blue plastic,
02:20 but again painted very maculately in the additional metallic gold.
02:24 I will likely be displaying the figure with the gun,
02:26 although the blades that he has included are not only intimidating, I would imagine in battle,
02:31 but also quite intimidating to have on display with the figure as well.
02:34 They aren't identical if you were looking at them.
02:36 Both the handles, the guard, as well as the actual blades are very unique to each one of them.
02:41 They aren't going to be a carbon copy.
02:43 I love the way that they've actually added all the little notches and indentations,
02:47 looking like these are war-torn weapons.
02:49 Something he's probably been wielding in combat frequently.
02:52 There is no place to really store any of the accessories,
02:55 so your only options are really to be displaying him with his hands.
02:58 Of course, with the hands that he has already,
03:00 you can easily take him and have him holding those weapons by simply just prying the plastic away from the palm.
03:06 I will say, like, the plastic that they used is very forgiving.
03:09 It's very easy, in fact, to actually have him holding his swords,
03:13 but like I said, there is no other place that I can see as well that's going to attach those.
03:16 So, like, for example, you'll have to probably put this back in the packaging.
03:20 I really wish there was a place for him to actually have stored the gun.
03:23 There's no other place.
03:24 Again, if you did want to change out the hands, for example,
03:27 and maybe have him displayed with the bigger gripping hands,
03:30 it's easily a case of just removing...
03:31 First of all, let's take the sword out of his hand.
03:33 Easily just remove the hand from his forearm.
03:36 Just wiggle it back until finally it frees itself.
03:39 Now, also indicated on the packaging as I'm doing this,
03:42 it was stated as well that some of the joints may be a little tight.
03:46 With the time, of course, them packaging in the actual packaging
03:49 till the time you actually get this guy on the shelf.
03:51 I didn't have any real issues with the actual joints needing to be loosened necessarily,
03:55 but if you are having any problems with that,
03:57 you can also just run a few passes with a hair dryer just to loosen up some of those joints.
04:01 With this hand now changed out,
04:03 we can go back to this really cool-looking gun and have that displayed in his hand instead.
04:07 Now, I did, again, already say the fact that they didn't take the time to sculpt...
04:10 Oh, to paint, I should say, the sculpted detail on the inside of the palm,
04:14 but judging by how frequently, just by only the few moments that we've been doing this,
04:17 how frequently I've been changing out the weapons,
04:19 there is really a good likelihood, I'm sure, that that would have been broken or damaged or scraped in the process.
04:24 You can see, like, the way they've also sculpted the fingers.
04:27 They've taken the time to actually be aware of where the trigger would be
04:30 as the finger lines up perfectly with the trigger section of the gun.
04:34 I like the look of that gun, though.
04:35 Again, I wish there was a place to actually store the blades.
04:38 Not that you really would be able to hold it against his cape.
04:41 Even if there was just, like, a little storage space or clips or something on the back of the figure's body.
04:45 Because, like, the accessories, I feel, are way too good to be putting back into the tray.
04:49 As for right now, at least, remove the gun. We're going to put that all to the side.
04:53 And get now closer, like, at Ka Lee.
04:54 Now, Ka Lee here is sporting his Conquest armor.
04:57 I would imagine he's probably been conquesting quite a lot of the Animal Warriors kingdom.
05:02 You can see, like, the detailing done to his face.
05:04 It's really nicely handled here.
05:06 It paints really well. You can see the very nice, finer features of his face,
05:10 not to mention the additional detailing that they've done to his eyes.
05:13 I like the head sculpt, personally.
05:14 The blue skin is certainly something I'm really well accepting of the figure.
05:17 I mean, normally, you don't think of chimps. You tend to think of blue skin.
05:20 But, I gotta say, it, like, works really well for this.
05:22 He has quite long hair on the back, which, for obvious reasons, is going to cause a little more problems
05:26 when it comes to actually rotating the figure around.
05:28 But we'll talk all more about the articulation in a second.
05:31 As a side note, I will say, though, the neck is quite long.
05:34 And they probably have done that deliberately to accommodate the fact that the hair has to rest the way that it is.
05:39 Armor-wise, it's a really enamored, very adorned armor that he's sporting.
05:43 Instead of actually having a lion's head on the shoulder of armor, like we've seen in the past,
05:49 he actually has what almost looks to be kind of like a monkey, or like some sort of ape, I'm guessing.
05:55 In a way, it kind of looks a little like a dragon, as well.
05:57 But that's been sculpted, as well, in this same gold plastic as, really, the rest of the painted body.
06:02 Now, I'm guessing, again, like the armor and like the weapons, I should say,
06:06 I'm guessing they probably would have molded this in probably the blue plastic, the metallic blue that they've used here,
06:11 and then painted the gold over top of it.
06:13 Just because, again, like gold is such a hard thing to cast.
06:15 It usually ends up leaving behind sort of marbling.
06:18 And it doesn't seem to be the case here. The paint is actually really well finished here on the figure.
06:22 If you look at it both on the front and on the back, there's just as much detailing.
06:25 Even though it's really covered by the cape, there's just as much detailing happening here on the back.
06:29 We'll also notice, as well, I want to draw your attention to the fact that there's a hole also in the back of the figure's body.
06:33 From what I can see, it doesn't serve a purpose. It's not as if, actually, like his cape attaches onto it.
06:38 So it's probably something that they have planned for maybe a future figure down the road.
06:42 Maybe that's going to play some role or something's going to attach onto the back of it.
06:45 By the way, there is no peg or anything on the gun itself.
06:48 At one point, I thought, "Okay, well, maybe if I could take the cape off, for example, and that would just plug into place."
06:52 But it doesn't seem like there's anything that's actually would have been connecting onto the torso.
06:57 But, again, I really like the way they've sculpted this. The paint is so well handled here.
07:01 I mean, look at the additional, like, how intricate that armor actually is.
07:05 The texturing does vary a little bit as well. So you can kind of see, like, where the armor would have changed a bit in its design.
07:12 But it's, again, a really interesting looking armor.
07:14 Kind of, in a way, evokes for me, like, the memories of Caesar from, like, the old, like, "Planet of the Apes," for example.
07:20 And, of course, you do have the skirting also down below here as well.
07:22 This is more, unlike this being a more harder plastic, the skirting down below is actually more of a softer plastic.
07:27 The skirting sits pretty close to the sides of the legs. But, luckily, you'll be knowing as well, if you go to split the legs out,
07:33 the skirting does a good job of staying out of the way of things.
07:36 Now, for, of course, the articulation here, starting first with Kali's head.
07:40 The head's gonna rotate back and forth. And for all intents and purposes, it should have a ball joint where it would allow the head to move up and down.
07:46 And, of course, yeah, you'd be able to rotate all the way around.
07:48 But just because, again, like, the length of the hair that he has on the back of the body, there's really no way that you'd be able to rotate the head.
07:53 And it's only really gonna be able to clear the shoulders on the sides. You wouldn't be able to, again, rotate all the way around.
07:58 Upper torso is on a crunch. So, not only can you move it back and forth this way, but it also has a ratchet joint, from what I can hear as well.
08:05 So, there's a lot of durability done behind the scenes to really ensure that these animal warriors of the kingdom are well-constructed figures.
08:13 You can see the wide range of motion just from this alone.
08:17 And then, of course, you've got the additional articulation with that crunch that he has in his torso, really giving him a far reach backward as well as well forward as well.
08:25 And, of course, when it comes to his arms, now his arm on this side does rotate all the way around.
08:30 The only thing you have to really be careful of is there's this part of his arm that sticks further out from the rest of his torso.
08:36 Be careful, though, because while you are rotating it, you really don't want to start to wear and scrape away the paint.
08:41 The arm does hinge out at 90 degrees. He has a swivel at his bicep, and the figure also possesses a double hinge on his elbow.
08:48 The thing about the double hinge, though, is that you really can't bend it any further.
08:51 You can get to about here, but just so how much thickness that he has in his form and his bicep basically makes a double hinge almost null and void.
08:59 I mean, it's there, and it's always appreciated that it is there, but that's as far as you can really bend it.
09:04 Hands do rotate all the way around, hinging back and forth as well.
09:07 Legs do have that split, as we've already had a look at.
09:10 If we were to actually look at the inner workings of the figure, you can kind of see that there's a ball joint that's attaching this part of the thigh to the rest of the lower half of his body.
09:17 There is also a very tight joint here, a swivel cut three cores the way up the thigh that allows the leg to rotate all the way around.
09:24 And there is also, as well, a double hinge on the knee, but again, very tight on this figure.
09:28 In a way, that's also good, too. I'd much rather have tighter joints on figures than overly loose joints.
09:33 And then when it comes to his feet, the feet move up and down this way.
09:36 Now, you'll notice that he has a cover piece that goes over top to protect his toes.
09:40 This is actually a softer plastic, and while moving this up and down, you can see, as well, it does have a lot of clearance.
09:47 There's enough space allotted underneath here that you can easily move the feet back and forth.
09:51 I don't feel at all like there's limitations by the fact that they actually did put this protective armor over top of it.
09:56 But again, some really nice ankle articulation.
09:58 Figures does have, by the way, pegs on the undersides of his feet, but Spiro did not include a display stand with the figure.
10:03 He really needs it anyways. The figure of Kali stands actually fine.
10:06 Of course, the biggest problem when it comes to a figure looking this good is, what way would you want to be displaying the figure?
10:11 I still feel compelled to go back to the idea of him just being displayed with the gun, because I really like the look of the gun.
10:16 But then that also has to ultimately mean that I have to put one of these blades back.
10:20 And I feel with all of the accessories that get packed along with the figure, too good they are, I feel, to go back into their plastic prison.
10:27 Now, a fairly new line on my radar, Animal Warriors of the Kingdom, I did see online.
10:32 Of course, the folks over at Spiro Toys were nice enough to send a couple my way that we could have a look at here on this channel.
10:37 Physically, now seeing them in hand, I will say right away, one thing I really like about these, from what I've seen only experiencing with Kali, is the plastic quality feels really good.
10:46 Sometimes with limited run figures, it can be the extreme of plastics.
10:49 On one end, you can have really dense, hard plastic. It's very unforgiving.
10:53 You can move the joints, you can move the fingers, and you know that the plastic is just not consumer-friendly at all.
10:58 But on the other end, I've certainly had a look at limited run figures where the plastic is kind of gummy, kind of rubbery.
11:03 It really has too much wiggling to it.
11:06 I will say, though, like Animal Warriors of the Kingdom, based on just the one figure we've looked at so far with Kali, the plastic feels really good.
11:12 Not only does it feel good, but it looks good, too.
11:15 The way that they've actually gone in and painted the gold so richly as they've done.
11:19 Now, he also has, of course, the metallic blue.
11:21 And with the metallic blue being something so close in color scheme to the rest of his face, his feet, and his hands,
11:27 you would think that the blue would kind of blend in with the rest of his facial features.
11:31 But actually, I like the blue differencing between the two.
11:34 The metallic blue works really well with the gold, but it isn't the same kind of blue that he has for his face, his feet, and of course, his hands.
11:40 So the blue on all of those features also stand out really well.
11:43 The plastic is also something going back to the plastic.
11:46 It did say, actually, even in fact on the packaging, that if you had these figures and you're getting them now delivered to your house,
11:52 that you may want to try to test first the waters when it comes to the joints.
11:55 If the joints seem tight, obviously, you may want to go in there and heat them up before you start to move them.
12:00 I did notice, though, that the elbows on Kali were a little on the more tighter side.
12:03 So I actually just heated them up a little bit prior to this review.
12:06 And in fact, actually, even after doing this review, now into final looks,
12:10 I've been able to loosen up the elbows just even a little bit better,
12:13 where I've now got the gun resting against his head as he's drawing his blade out to the rest of the kingdom,
12:18 hoping that all of them will kneel down before him.
12:21 What do you guys think of the animal warriors of the kingdom, especially Kali?
