00:00 A mix of sun and heavy showers today and indeed tomorrow.
00:05 And the weather remains fairly mixed through the long weekend as well.
00:08 A back holiday for many.
00:10 We do have high pressure nearby but it's sitting out here in the Atlantic.
00:14 It tries to get a little closer but certainly for the time being we've got low pressure sitting right over us
00:20 and spiralling bands of showers across the UK.
00:23 It's not going to rain everywhere all day.
00:25 There'll be some decent spells of sunshine in East Anglia and the southeast, mostly staying dry.
00:29 But across eastern Scotland in particular, slow moving showers could cause some problems
00:34 with the rain really building up through the day.
00:37 The showers across western Scotland will tend to be pretty frequent but move through on a fairly brisk wind.
00:42 Plenty of heavy showers for Wales and southwest England this afternoon as well.
00:46 Elsewhere the showers a bit more scattered and as I said we will see some sunshine coming through
00:51 but it's not really going to do much for the temperatures.
00:53 Generally below average, mostly only in the high teens.
00:56 A little warmer across the east but even here that's quite a bit cooler than it has been for most of the week.
01:01 A much fresher feel, we've lost that humidity.
01:04 Now through the evening and overnight we'll lose most of the showers across England and Wales.
01:08 Still quite a few around through the evening.
01:10 One area where the showers may keep going is southeastern parts of Scotland
01:14 so we do have that warning in place into Saturday morning.
01:18 Showers also likely to keep going across northern Scotland.
01:21 Quite a wet night here, also parts of northwest England seeing the showers feeding in on a fairly brisk wind.
01:27 With lighter winds and clearer skies over the Midlands and southern England,
01:30 could be some mist and fog patches forming too as temperatures generally dip away
01:35 into single figures in rural spots, towns and cities 10 to 12.
01:39 So into Saturday, again it'll be a case of sunshine and showers.
01:43 Many central and eastern parts starting with the sunshine but quite wet across northern Scotland with a brisk wind.
01:50 And then the showers will get going, well pretty much right across the board.
01:54 Nowhere immune from the downpours during Saturday.
01:57 Again there'll be some sunny spells so if you dodge the heaviest showers
02:01 there will be some fine weather to be had.
02:03 But where the showers do crop up, again they could be quite slow moving
02:06 and they could turn into thunderstorms dropping a lot of rain in a short space of time.
02:11 With a lot of clouds, plenty of showers, it is again going to be a fairly cool day.
02:16 Temperatures mostly again struggling to get out of the teens.
02:19 Eastern England 21, 22, just about possible when the sun comes out.
02:24 There will still be that mixture of sunshine and showers across the country during Saturday evening.
02:29 If you've got any plans staying fairly damp across the far north of Scotland.
02:33 We'll start to see a bit of a change as we head into Sunday.
02:37 This line of cloud behind me is a weather front which tries to push in.
02:42 There's that ridge of high pressure which also tries to move in.
02:45 So it's a bit of a scrap going on.
02:46 Generally that weather front wins on Sunday but this ridge of high pressure
02:50 does promise something a bit drier and brighter for many of us as we head into Monday.
02:55 For more details on that make sure you stay up to date throughout the weekend.
02:59 And the best way to do that is of course to follow us across social media.
