00:00 Well, we are taking a look at tropical storm Don churning over the north central waters of the Atlantic, and this story has been with us now for a week and a half or so, at least about nine days.
00:11 But it's not going to be of much land impact or consequence, so it will be pooling north, moving over colder water and meeting its demise fairly soon here, at least by the end of the weekend, probably transitioning away from being a tropical system.
00:24 We've had a lot of Saharan dust that has been a bit of a tropical roadblock to this point, keeping us out of trouble in the Atlantic farther south.
00:31 But look at what happens here through the weekend, that big plume of sand and dust, little grains of sand at least, high in the atmosphere.
00:39 They're going to be moving away, and that big plume of Saharan dust will generally be kind of thinning out, and that will open the door for perhaps this next tropical wave to gain a little more traction.
00:49 We'll have to keep an eye on this one because it is in a better position to perhaps strengthen just a bit and organize into a tropical depression, and there is a medium chance of that happening into early next week.
01:00 So we'll be watching that as Don meets its demise.
01:03 This system will be moving farther west, and there will be a little bit more in the way of moisture as we approach the Leeward Islands.
01:08 Now, farther west, you'll notice there is some extra wind shear, so this only has so much of an opportunity.
01:14 We're kind of highlighting this disturbance, and you can see as it moves into the Caribbean, it may organize into a tropical depression, conceivably even a tropical storm for a time,
01:22 but it won't be very organized, and land interaction will keep it in check.
01:26 Wind shear over the Caribbean will keep it in check, despite warm water.
01:29 The warm water is one factor encouraging it to develop, but there are some other factors at play.
