00:00A tropical rainstorm, which was a tropical wave that had been battling some dry air,
00:05that has been moving to the west across a big chunk of the northeastern Caribbean, and
00:10now it's moving through an area real close to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
00:13So if we take the graphics full, you can see that this tropical wave is moving to the west,
00:18and as we watch this move over an area around Hispaniola, we'll have to closely watch how
00:24it may interact with those landmasses.
00:27There are some big mountains on these landmasses, but it's much more robust than it was yesterday
00:31at this time, as it was really battling some severely dry air.
00:35At this point, we're dealing with it moving west and west-northwest.
00:38Still some moderately dry air around it.
00:40Wind shear is also moderate, keeping it in check, but overall it is a stronger system
00:46than it was 24 hours ago, and we're calling it a tropical rainstorm because it is bringing
00:50some significant downpours.
00:51This wind shear map shows in the deeper purples to the north of its location, and also over
00:55the central Caribbean.
00:56There is stronger wind shear in those areas that would work to keep it disheveled, but
01:00again, its main obstacle has been dry air and some land interaction now as we move real
01:05close to Hispaniola.
01:06If it stays just north of the islands, it'll have the best chance to organize.
01:10We'll have to keep a close eye on this.
01:12This weekend into early next week, near Florida or the southeast coast, conceivably even east
01:17of Florida.
01:18There's also a chance it could stay south of Florida.
01:22Here's one model depiction that shows this mass of showers and storms moving west right
01:26over the islands, and that solution would keep it a little bit more disheveled, but
01:29there will be downpours through Cuba and into the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, and south
01:33Florida through Saturday.
