Tropical Storm Sean is not expected to strengthen as it heads toward the Lesser Antilles, but mid-October could bring Tropical Storm Tammy into existence.

00:00 tropical tracks this year.
00:01 It's been a pretty typical season as
00:03 far as the number of named storms.
00:05 And also when you're in an El Nino year,
00:07 like we are,
00:08 we typically don't have as many storms
00:10 that form in the Caribbean or the Gulf
00:12 of Mexico and sure enough we haven't.
00:14 This year just a handful,
00:15 but there's been a lot of activity
00:17 out here in the open Atlantic areas
00:19 really east of the lesser Antilles.
00:21 This whole area right in here.
00:22 There's been a lot of storminess and
00:24 as a matter of fact we actually have
00:26 a storm system out there right now.
00:29 Tropical Storm Sean is still
00:30 sitting and spinning.
00:31 Not really that organized.
00:33 There's been some wind shear
00:34 interrupting its organization,
00:36 but here's South America right here.
00:38 And here is Tropical Storm Sean.
00:40 A closer view shows the winds are
00:42 barely enough to give it tropical
00:44 storm status 40 miles an hour near
00:46 its center. The pressure has actually
00:48 risen since yesterday, which is
00:50 obviously not an indication of
00:52 strengthening 1006 millibars,
00:53 and it's moving West Northwest
00:54 at 12 miles an hour.
00:56 This one is not expected to
00:58 strengthen is it's going to stay
01:00 right around Tropical Storm strength
01:01 or a little bit less as it moves
01:04 West into the middle of next week.
01:06 North of the lesser Antilles,
01:07 so there could be some impacts there
01:09 by the middle of next week.
01:11 Meantime, later on in the forecast here,
01:13 there's a tropical tracker showing
01:15 a high risk of development of a
01:17 tropical system October 16th to the 19th.
01:20 So that's next week.
01:21 There could be some activity here
01:23 and the models show it would
01:24 make its way to the West,
01:26 so it's that same area that we're going
01:29 to be watching here folks moving forward.
