00:00Do you remember about an hour ago where I was like, you want to hear Steve Kerr fire
00:04you up?
00:05And then we never hit that thing.
00:06Yep.
00:07Now we're going to hit that thing.
00:08Oh, we're in full playoff mode right now, you know, the game plans are much more detailed
00:14and specific.
00:15You know, we, every, we, we look at every game now as a playoff game because we want
00:19to avoid, you know, that seven, eight slot.
00:22And everybody we're playing, it seems like it's in a, you know, similar spot.
00:26And so these games are really intense.
00:28So I'm, I've been sitting on my, in my room watching Laker tape the last couple hours.
00:33So you know, where this is, this is, this is what it's about right now.
00:37I love hearing Steve Kerr say we're already in playoff mode and it might be a little bit
00:44of a visual into how they're going to go about doing this with three games.
00:49Check it now.
00:50Three games in the next four nights.
00:53This is really, really intense.
00:55What's about to unfold here in the next couple of hours.
00:59And I think there's a lot of strategy that goes into it.
01:02You know what I mean?
01:03This is, these are the kinds of moments where I feel like the modern NBA kind of starts
01:08shaking because what do you do?
01:11Well, the whole idea has been, we always keep our eyes on the prize.
01:17We are not going to blink.
01:19What matters is the health of Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
01:25Once we get to the second half of April.
01:27Okay.
01:28Okay.
01:29I get it.
01:30Yeah.
01:31I'll get on board with you, but it's April 3rd and I don't know how much of a second
01:34half of April there will be if the next 10 days don't go well.
01:38So you got to balance that and then balance it off of a two game or a two week road trip.
01:45And this is the last night and Denver is already in their hotel room, tucked away here
01:50in San Francisco, getting ready there.
01:52They can sit there.
01:53Yoke, his shoes are off and his feet are up on his big old bed somewhere in the fancy
01:59hotel watching this game tonight.
02:01And then you got to go get on a plane and land back here at SFO at two in the morning
02:06or whatever the hell it's going to be.
02:08And get yourself to your home and get ready for that one followed by the young upstart.
02:14We don't even know what the hell's going on.
02:16Rockets and Dylan Brooks, who, by the way, got himself suspended for a game last night
02:23by kicking Colin Sexton in the, you know, what got his 16th technical foul.
02:28But I'm pretty sure that the game he's going to miss is not the game on Sunday.
02:33He's going to miss the game before that.
02:34So now he's going to be all, all up on his high horse, ready to go for Draymond Green
02:42on Sunday.
02:43This is an unbelievable little stretch and, and, and I, I'm really fascinated to see the
02:49way Steve goes about playing it.
02:51Yeah.
02:52And I think you're right about if they fall behind and it looks like the game's going
02:56to be tough to win.
02:57He may pull the plug.
02:58And I talked about this before Lakers was seven games in 11 days.
03:02The Warriors have seven games in 11 days.
03:04Also, these two teams both have seven to go.
03:07The only difference is LA has got four road and the Warriors only have three on the road.
03:13Excuse me.
03:14Each team though, with two back-to-backs the rest of the way.
03:18And you talked about this back-to-back at LA home to Denver and think about the Memphis
03:24back-to-back home to Boston and then home to golden state.
03:27So yeah, tough back-to-back against two very good teams, but Memphis had the benefit of
03:32at least staying home.
03:33The Warriors.
03:34And I know it's a short flight.
03:35It's an hour, hour and 10, whatever it is, but still you play tonight, national TV.
03:41It's over at 10 or 10 30 media, 1130 on the plane at midnight.
03:46You land at one, you're home at two and you get up tomorrow and it's right back to work.
03:50Well, they woke up in Tennessee yesterday.
03:52I woke up in Tennessee yesterday, Tennessee, Tennessee, right?
03:57Then they come to LA.
03:59And again, like these conversations get tough because I know how those of you out there
04:05listening who hell you probably spent your day delivering packages or lifting lumber
04:11or who knows what you might've been doing with your day.
04:14And you do not want to hear how hard it is that the Warriors have had to play six basketball
04:18games in two weeks.
04:19And they got fancy food everywhere they went and chartered flights on their six flights
04:26around the country during two weeks and the fanciest high rise hotel rooms that you could
04:31possibly find.
04:33And now they're in Los Angeles, California, and it's 72 degrees out.
04:37Oh, boo, the freak who?
04:39Well, I know, I know, but I don't look at it that way.
04:42I don't feel sorry for the human beings, but there is sympathy for the basketball.
04:49I do think that years and years of data will suggest that these scenarios that we're talking
04:58about, they dot, dot, dot lead to the basketball.
05:04And it is fair not to assume, and I hope it doesn't work out this way, and it is unpredictable,
05:10so it might not, but it's fair if like you, you kind of lean into tonight thinking, well,
05:17the Lakers are, are probably more ready to play basketball than the Warriors are.
05:23Doesn't mean that the shots won't go in for the dubs and maybe they pull one off, but
05:28the Lakers are probably more ready for this one than the Warriors are.
05:31Absolutely.
05:32They've had three days off at home and the Warriors are wrapping up a six city road trip
05:36that took two weeks.
05:37And it's the same thing as when we talk about the Niners schedule when it came out last
05:42year and I looked at a Green Bay Buffalo back to back two game road trip in November into
05:48December and I looked at it and thought, well, that's a scheduled loss.
05:52And similarly, when you look at the NBA, you can look at certain games and say, well, that's
05:58going to be a tough spot.
05:59And the NBA is a little bit different because as we've talked about, Mark, it's a make or
06:02miss league.
06:04So just because the Warriors are at the end of a road trip, if you go out and shoot 50%
06:08from three, if you go 22 of 44 from three, you're going to win the game.
06:14Even though all of these factors are lined up against you, Lakers home, Lakers rested,
06:20you're not rested.
06:21End of a road trip, blah, blah, blah.
06:23If you get hot, you can still win the game.
06:26But when you just look at the spot right here, this is a bad spot for the Warriors.
06:31And also tomorrow is a bad spot as well.
06:34Yes.
06:35Denver's here.
06:36So it's almost a Denver home game.
06:38Denver's here.
06:39They're chilling and they didn't play any of their players last night.
06:42So not only is tonight a bad spot tomorrow, I think is equally a bad spot, right?
06:47Which is why, like right now, if you offered me a split, I'm in.
06:53Offer it to me right now.
06:54I take it.
06:55Mark, you want the split?
06:56I'll take it.
06:57Which one do you want?
06:58Don't care.
06:59No, no, no.
07:00That's you don't get to answer that.
07:01If you want the split, you got to tell me which one you want.
07:04You want a national TV win over LeBron or do you want a chase center homecoming against
07:11the Joker?
07:13Which one would feel better?
07:17That depends.
07:18On?
07:19I'm just asking you your feelings.
07:22I know, but my first thought went to, I'd actually rather have the Denver game.
07:28Not because that one like matters more or whatever, like I despise the Lakers, so I'd
07:35like them to beat the Lakers and it's a road game, so it's more impressive and all of those
07:39things.
07:40Yep.
07:41But go to the emotions of it.
07:42If you win tonight, if you win tonight, now you're like, let's get greedy and we're home.
07:48So you end the two game stretch disappointed, but a little bit, but if you lose, if you
07:53lose tonight, you go into tomorrow kind of nervous, but you're like, okay, I get it.
08:00The Lakers are super rested and the Warriors weren't getting your own bed.
08:04Sleep a little late tomorrow.
08:05Why don't you sleep till 10 a.m. right?
08:08And then get yourself right in your home building and welcome the former MVP into the
08:14building and show the Denver Nuggets, who you haven't beaten, I think in 13 tries, that
08:20you can beat them.
08:22I think that I would come out of the 48 hours feeling better about Warrior Basketball if
08:28it was the second game, not the first one.
08:31It's only my like rivalry emotions that want tonight.
08:34I get that.
08:35It's a little bit of a...
08:36I'll pick tomorrow.
08:37Okay.
08:38And I appreciate you working your way through that and I hope I didn't put you on the spot
08:41too much.
08:42I know it's...
08:43You're allowed to put me on it.
08:44That's what we do here.
08:45It's been a little bit of a roller coaster of emotions here on this Thursday, best day
08:48of the week.
08:49It's been a fun day.
08:50Denver, you haven't beaten this year and it's been quite, I think it's nine straight you've
08:55lost to Denver in the regular year and you haven't beaten the Lakers this year either.
09:00So I've been thinking about it, not only from the rivalry angle of it, for me to answer
09:05my own question.
09:06I'd rather have this one because of my longstanding hatred, sports hatred of the Lakers and just
09:12what that's always meant where the Lakers have had the Warriors number historically
09:17over the years.
09:18And so you haven't beaten the Lakers this year, your own three, but I do get your point
09:23about the high highs and we're going to be down at Splash tomorrow.
09:27So if you're going to the game, come see us.
09:30So if you get a split and you win tonight, we are starting to lick our chops about, I
09:34mean the five, talk about the four.
09:37Oh, absolutely.
09:38Let's talk about the four.
09:39Absolutely.
09:40But then you go out and you lose to Denver tomorrow at home.
09:41It's like, okay, let's, can we stay out of the play again?
09:45Or the reverse to your point is, man, we just can't, LeBron and Luka, they swept the season
09:51series and it sure feels like, man, there's a team we don't want to face in the playoffs.
09:56But then you go out and you beat Denver, a team that has also owned you.
09:59So it kind of works either way.
10:01It kind of works both ways emotionally.
10:03Do you want an update on what the Timberwolves are playing right now?
10:07Basketball?
10:08Yes.
10:09Okay.
10:10Yes.
10:11They're in Brooklyn.
10:12Early second quarter.
10:13They're down by a point.
10:15They're in trouble.
10:16Got to play from behind.
10:17Yeah.
10:18And they got, they got restaurant quality back, right?
10:20Are they Vincenzo?
10:22I think so.
10:24Yes.
10:25He has gone into the game and gone 0 for 3 for zero points.
10:30Very odd, low scoring vibe going out there.
10:34The first quarter was 20 to 19.
10:37First quarter.
10:38Whoa.
10:3920 to 19.
10:40Yep.
10:41Yeah.
10:42The Warriors almost put 50 on Memphis.
10:43I know.
10:44A couple of days ago.
10:45I know.
10:46I know.
10:47So, yeah, Minnesota.
10:48Well, they scored a bucket.
10:49So now they're ahead.
10:50Anyway.
10:51Yeah.
10:52So they got a close game going, which, you know, it's very, very early.
10:55And then nothing else that is currently going.
10:57Well, actually, no.
10:59I stand corrected.
11:00The Grizzlies are also in action at Miami and they are very early second quarter and
11:06trailing by three.
11:09The Miami Heat have been playing oddly good basketball and I think whipped the Celtics
11:13last night in Boston.
11:16The weirdo result.
11:17Yeah.
11:18And again, Boston is kind of on that island.
11:20Yeah.
11:21Shout out Gilligan.
11:22Under the two seed and they will be the two seed.
11:24So it doesn't really mean that you can mail it in.
11:27I look at Oklahoma City and they continue to be on pace, not on pace, but they might
11:32win 70.
11:33They're killing people.
11:34They are just like they are relentless.
11:38They do not need these games and they don't just win.
11:41They win by 23.
11:42Yep.
11:43Every night.
11:44It doesn't matter who the opponent is.
11:46It is wild.
11:47God, Memphis was there a few nights ago and it was like tied at the end of three and they
11:52won by 22.
11:54It's just like, Mike, they are so devastatingly good in the regular season.
12:01Right.
12:02And how good would it feel if the Warriors tip off tonight and Minnesota and Memphis
12:06have already lost?
12:07It would be awesome.
12:08Oh my God.
12:09That would be such a relief.
12:10It would be incredible.
12:11And it's possible.
12:12It's possible.
12:13Yeah.
12:14They're both locked into some interesting ones.
12:15Yeah.
12:16Heat up by five and the Nets and T-Wolves are tied, but very, very early second quarter.
12:21So that means a pile of nothing, at least at the moment.
12:25And Denver has won 12 of 13 in the regular season against Golden State.
12:3012 of 13.
12:3112 of 13.
12:32So the one Warrior win was back in 2022 when they won by 11.
12:38And I know that they were able to beat them in the playoffs as well, but Denver has had
12:41complete ownage over the Warriors.
12:44Including nine in a row.
12:45Nothing wrong.
12:46Yeah.
12:47That's right.
12:48Yeah.
12:49Do you want it?
12:50I was texting Kuma who was like, is he back on hold?
12:53And then I was like, you don't.
12:54And then we just hung up on him.
12:55Yeah.
12:56Well, he texted his point.
12:57How's he doing?
12:58Is he good?
12:59I think he's good.
13:00Hope he's good.
13:01Do you want to hear what he had to say?
13:02Yeah.
13:03I hope he's not mad about the quick hook that you gave him.
13:04No, I think he got it.
13:05He understood what was going on.
13:06It's not his fault.
13:07It's not you.
13:08It's us.
13:09Yeah.
13:10This is Kumar in Ukiah.
13:13I just wanted to correct dibs a little.
13:18Okay.
13:20He didn't need the ding.
13:22He didn't need that.
13:24But it was funny.
13:25It was funny.
13:26Anyway, it's less about the calls while driving to the hoop and more about the constant mauling,
13:34holding, and wrestling that is happening when he brings the ball up or is off ball.
13:46What can Steph do about that?
13:50Huh?
13:51Dibbers?
13:52Did he say that?
13:54Yes.
13:55Huh, Dibbers?
13:56I read that word for word.
13:57Well, Kumar, and this is going to be unpopular, and my partner, Mark with a K, and I have
14:02... Unpopular.
14:04Mark with a C is, I think, with Mark with a K for a change in that I believe he needs
14:09to be a stronger advocate verbally and otherwise for himself.
14:14Because the nice guy act, we know that nice guys finish last and he's done it for 16 years
14:19and yet this haranguing, this mauling, Kumar, and mauling to me feels a little heavy handed.
14:27Mauling, holding, and wrestling.
14:30Well, holding, yes.
14:32I would say bumping, clutching, grabbing, fondling, all of that mauling.
14:41He's not being mauled.
14:42You better be careful.
14:43I am being careful, Brandy.
14:44These are words in the English language.
14:46I'm allowed to use them.
