00:00Our first guest tonight is a great actor on a great show
00:03who's been dodging questions about finger traps
00:06and waffle parties all year long.
00:08The season two finale of Severance
00:10just came out tonight on Apple TV.
00:14Right, OK.
00:18Mark, I know this is a hot man, but if we can
00:26prove that she is alive, if we can
00:28prove that they kidnapped her, it will end them.
00:43What happens to us?
00:59Wow.
01:09Wow.
01:11Well, first of all, congratulations
01:13on a fantastic season.
01:14I'm so excited.
01:17The finale.
01:18Thanks, man.
01:19I intentionally didn't watch the finale before you came out,
01:21even though I could have.
01:22I was telling the audience how unselfish an act that was.
01:25That's incredible.
01:26Can we have a round of applause for Jimmy?
01:31You know, we were just talking backstage
01:33that this is my 15th time coming on the show.
01:36Oh, you think you should have a prize or something?
01:39Yeah, where's my prize?
01:41Are those for me, those glasses?
01:43They are.
01:44Yes, you can read with them.
01:45You can read now?
01:46No, I don't know how.
01:47Well, wait till you put these on.
01:49OK.
01:50Back to you and this show.
01:52Are you happy with the finale?
01:56Yeah.
01:57I can't wait for people to see it,
01:58because I've been watching it for,
02:00I mean, we shot it a while ago.
02:02You know, it took three years for season two to come out.
02:06You shot this in 2011, right?
02:07Yeah, we shot this in 2011.
02:10I did not have a beard yet.
02:14You weren't even able to grow a beard yet.
02:16I didn't know what a beard was.
02:18And now it has to be a bit of a relief
02:21to not have to keep things secret
02:22and then not be pestered all the time.
02:24It is.
02:24I don't, yeah.
02:25Because now it's all out there, and the finale
02:28answers some questions.
02:30And so everyone will be happy.
02:31You guys are good about answering questions, I think.
02:33Yeah.
02:34People want some answers to some questions.
02:36You give answers to the questions.
02:39That's our job, right?
02:40Isn't that what actors and creatives do?
02:42Not always. Not always.
02:43Answer questions.
02:44Sometimes it's like, well, you figure it out for yourself.
02:46That's true.
02:47It can be frustrating for us.
02:49But then I watched the clip, which I've just
02:51now seen for the first time.
02:53And the idea that you could end Lumen, on one hand,
02:58we're rooting for you to end Lumen.
02:59On the other hand, the show's over.
03:01Otherwise, it's just, you know, you kind
03:03of making lunch in the house.
03:05Right.
03:06You don't want to see that show, right?
03:07No, we don't want that.
03:08We want Lumen to be around just for one reason or another.
03:11We're rooting for Lumen in a weird way.
03:13Yeah, now you're rooting for the bad guys.
03:15And I love this idea of the innies and the outies.
03:19I wish I could have that for myself
03:21so I didn't have to look at the news when I go home.
03:24You know, it would be pretty great, I think.
03:26Your innie could deal with JD Vance,
03:28and then your outie doesn't even have to know he exists.
03:32Have you, at any point during the couple of years
03:35that you've been keeping the events on the show secret,
03:38have you accidentally revealed anything to anyone?
03:40Well, I have to sometimes.
03:42Because like two years ago, I had to tell my wife,
03:47I had to tell Naomi just some of it,
03:49because there were some really juicy details.
03:52And I knew I would have to keep them secret
03:54for two or three years.
03:56And so I had to tell her like about Helena being undercover
04:01as Helly early in season two.
04:05I just had to tell someone because it was so juicy.
04:08And she didn't want to hear it.
04:11But I was just like, it's going to be like two years.
04:14You're going to forget.
04:15It doesn't matter.
04:16Did she forget?
04:18No, she didn't forget.
04:20Yeah, of course she didn't forget.
04:21Right, of course not.
04:22But we do, we also like, I have Zooms
04:26that I have to be on with like Ben and Dan,
04:28all the creatives on the show.
04:30And my family doesn't want to hear anything.
04:32So I have to like go into a closet, literally,
04:35and do like work meetings.
04:36Oh, so your kids are involved and invested in the show.
04:38The kids don't want to hear anything,
04:39because it's actually the first thing
04:41I've been a part of that they're interested in.
04:43Oh.
04:45And what do they like, when dad's like in the sleeping bag
04:48on top of another woman, they love that.
04:51Yeah, they love it.
04:53My kids don't even want to see us kiss, you know?
04:57No, they think it's disgusting.
04:58Yeah, they think it's disgusting.
05:00OK, now you've caused quite a sensation, really,
05:02all around the world.
05:03Last weekend at the LA Marathon, somebody
05:06was holding up a sign that I think is pretty great.
05:09You should have made your innie do this.
05:12Yeah, running a marathon, why would you do that?
05:15It makes perfect sense.
05:17And there's a lot of fan art.
05:19You posted a bunch of it on your Instagram this week.
05:22There's so much.
05:24And it's incredible that the fans are this engaged.
05:30This is like, looks like animation from the 70s
05:32or something like that.
05:33That's right.
05:34But it's a scene, if you haven't seen the show, involving goats.
05:37Did you ever imagine there would be goats in this show
05:40when you started it?
05:42You know what?
05:43I was hoping there would be goats in the show.
05:46And it was just the happiest of coincidences.
05:48This is a group drawing of you and that one.
05:52That one really makes you look, it's
05:54very flattering for all of you.
05:56Actually, everyone looks pretty good,
05:58but what's going on with me?
06:00Well, I don't think Hellie looks great in this.
06:03Yeah, you and Hellie didn't get this right.
06:07I think this is, this is by far my favorite.
06:10This is a good one, yeah.
06:11And then finally, we have, well, maybe not.
06:15It's kind of an ET type thing going there.
06:19That's the most realistic.
06:22And it's flattering, though, right?
06:24I mean, very much.
06:25No, it is.
06:25I mean, not at all.
06:27It depends on, it's all in the eye of the beholder.
06:30You know, people are talking about your flashback scene.
06:35Mark S is your innie, and then your outie is Mark Scout.
06:39Right.
06:40Which it's weird that they picked
06:41a last name that's almost exactly
06:43your actual last name.
06:45Yeah.
06:45There's just one, in fact, they're just one letter off.
06:49Same number of syllables, one.
06:51Yeah.
06:52Same first two letters.
06:54Same last letter.
06:55It's just off by a couple of degrees.
06:57It's just slightly off, but I guess
06:59they don't care about that.
07:00No, they don't care about that.
07:01Nobody ran that by you.
07:02But people are saying, like, how hot
07:05you look in the flashbacks, which
07:07is funny because they're not actually flashbacks.
07:10You're the same age.
07:12In fact, you might even be older in the flashbacks.
07:14Literally, all I did was get a haircut.
07:17OK.
07:18That's it.
07:19This is the way that I'm saying, I like your haircut.
07:21Yeah.
07:22And I mean, it goes to show just how terrible my haircut is.
07:26It wasn't.
07:26As Mark S, I guess.
07:27Are you not, are you wearing a wig as Mark S?
07:30That's my hair.
07:31That's all Ben Stiller.
07:33He loves that hairdo.
07:35He kind of came up with it.
07:37Ben comes in and does your hair?
07:39From the very beginning of the show,
07:42he had a very specific idea of what my hair should look like.
07:45Really?
07:46And that's what it is.
07:47Wow, his attention to detail might be like,
07:50might be a mental illness.
07:52Well, it certainly is exacting.
07:55Last week, Helly, Helena, not Helly, but Helena, her outie,
08:02cut a boiled egg into like six or eight pieces.
08:05And then she put it on the plate.
08:06And then she took a knife and fork.
08:08And in front of her father, who's a weirdo,
08:10just sat there and ate the smallest pieces of the egg.
08:14Yeah, didn't she just eat the white?
08:17Just the white parts, yeah.
08:19And I don't know if that was a calorie thing, or maybe it's,
08:22did you know how expensive eggs would be?
08:26Like two years ago, is that what happened there?
08:29It just goes to show, we spare no expense on stuff.
08:31Is that something that is addressed in the finale?
08:34Yeah.
08:35It is?
08:36I'm not going to give it away.
08:38But everything points towards that particular egg
08:43that Helena was cutting.
08:45Wow, we are learning a lot tonight.
08:47Adam Scott is here.
08:48The season two finale of Subway is on Apple TV+.
08:52We're here with Adam Scott.
08:55You know, as you know, fans will pay such close, maybe
08:59closer attention to the show than some of the people
09:01making the show.
09:02That's right.
09:03They will draw connections between things that don't
09:05necessarily have connections.
09:07Sure.
09:07For instance, your character on Parks and Rec,
09:10they've connected to your character on Severance.
09:13Yes.
09:14And you know about this?
09:16Yeah, I think I do.
09:17Yeah, they say, oh, there are clues there
09:20and things that you said to Leslie on the show
09:22that somehow apply to Severance.
09:25And it actually is pretty close.
09:28The thing that my character was sort of pitching to Leslie
09:31does sound sort of like Severance.
09:33But that is a coincidence.
09:35Yes.
09:36The first, I think, movie you ever did,
09:39and correct me if I have this wrong,
09:41you had a microchip in your head.
09:43Yes.
09:44Yes, the first TV, the first job I ever got acting, yes.
09:48Microchip in the head.
09:49That's right.
09:49Like Severance.
09:50Isn't that weird?
09:51Also a coincidence.
09:52Yeah.
09:53The fact that we have a clip from that.
09:56No, you do not.
09:57Is that a coincidence or no?
09:59Do you really?
10:00We do.
10:01From Dead at 21?
10:02Dead at 21 is the name of the show.
10:03You want to tell us a little?
10:04Would you like to set it up?
10:07Wow, really?
10:08Yeah.
10:09Dead at 21 was MTV's first scripted show, I believe,
10:14in 1994.
10:16Am I right about this?
10:17Yeah.
10:18I take your word for it.
10:19Yes, I was in the pilot.
10:21I had a guest starring role on the pilot.
10:25And it was the first acting job I ever got.
10:26And I thought I was going to be an enormous star.
10:30Really?
10:31Oh, 100%.
10:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:33And do you recall the part you played?
10:36I played Dan, I think.
10:38But I had a microchip in my brain.
10:40But the whole premise of the show,
10:41sorry, the whole premise of the show
10:43was there's a certain amount of teenagers
10:46that get microchips implanted in their brains that turns them
10:49into like hyper-intelligent super soldiers.
10:52But then on the day they turn 21,
10:54the microchip explodes in their brain and they die.
10:58And so I'm going to warn the lead of the show, played
11:02by Jack Noseworthy, that he's next.
11:05And I'm about to turn 21 and my head's going to explode.
11:08And we happen to have that.
11:09Oh, that's crazy.
11:10OK.
11:11Great.
11:11Wow, that's, wow.
11:36You got to work that into the summer somehow.
11:38Wow, that is so weird.
11:41I don't think I've seen that for like 20 years.
11:43Oh, really?
11:43I don't think so.
11:44Have the kids seen it?
11:45Well, they have now.
11:46They're going to love it, yeah.
11:48When you get in an elevator now, do people
11:52say things to you about that?
11:53Sometimes.
11:54Yeah, yeah.
11:55Sometimes it kind of veers from like, hey, listen.
11:58I'm not going to say anything about being in an elevator
12:01and like you, like the severance.
12:02But it's kind of cool that you're
12:04in an elevator right now.
12:05And then sometimes it's like, hey, man,
12:07are you going to sever?
12:08Like, what's going on?
12:09Are you going to turn into someone else?
12:11And then some people don't recognize me,
12:13and therefore they don't say anything.
12:19They're just in an elevator.
12:22Hey, who's Irving calling on the pay phone?
12:24That's a good question.
12:25Do we find that out?
12:26That's a good question.
12:28You saying, do we find that out, is a very good question.
12:31Oh.
12:33So do we find that out is not a yes or no answer,
12:36or it's just one you can't give?
12:38As far as questions go, it's one of the very good ones.
12:42OK.
12:43You know what?
12:44I don't understand the compliment, but I'll take it.
12:46I'm just here to judge questions.
12:47Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
12:50Well, it's great to have you here.
12:51The show is so good.
12:52Watch the season two finale of Severance on Apple TV Plus
12:56right now.
12:56Adam Scott, everybody.
12:58We'll be back with Senator Adam Schiff.
13:01Guillermo, do you know how many subscribers
13:02we have on YouTube now?
13:0420 million.
13:05That's right, yeah.
13:06That's why we're wearing these glasses.
13:07Thanks for being a subscriber.
13:09If you're not, help us get to 20 million and one.
