00:00TRUMP'S ADMINISTRATION IMPOSED ON COSTA RICA, GUATEMALA AND PANAMA TO BE SAVE THIRD COUNTRIES
00:17TO RECEIVE MIGRANTS DEPORTED FROM THE UNITED STATES.
00:23THE PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE BORIS ALENSKY MADE A DESPERATE SWAP PROPOSAL TO RUSSIA.
00:32AND THE PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE ACCUSES U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP OF PROMOTING ETHNIC
00:36CLEANSING IN THE GAZA STRIP AND WARNS HIM THAT HE WILL FACE PALESTINIAN, ARAB AND ISLAMIC
00:41RESPONSE.
00:42Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Delos Luz Studios in Havana,
00:51Cuba.
00:52We begin with the news.
00:53Trump's administration imposed on Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama to be save third
00:58countries to receive migrants deported from the United States.
01:01The tour of U.S. Secretary Marco Rubio forced the administrations of the Central American
01:06Nations to harness hundreds of migrants as their bargaining chips.
01:10Guatemala and Costa Rica are currently trying to transfer migrants willing to return to
01:14their country of origin.
01:16However, they have not even defined the operation plan, not following suit of Venezuela, a nation
01:22that has made a solid repatriation operation for over 70 years.
01:25In the meantime, hundreds of migrants are suffering from degrading treatment.
01:36The U.S. news agency Associated Press reported that one of its journalists was prevented
01:41from entering the White House for continuing to use the name Gulf of Mexico.
01:46Julie Pace, the executive editor of AP, detailed a communiqué issued by the executive office
01:51of the president in which they were told that if they did not align their editorial line
01:55with the executive order of President Trump renaming the Gulf, the agency would be denied
02:01access to the Oval Office.
02:03AP finds it alarming that they are being punished for this decision, calling it a violation
02:08of the First Amendment.
02:09Civil rights organizations point out that denying access to the press for this sagreen
02:14with news coverage is a practice of repressive governments.
02:23In Mexico, the government continues to care for migrants after the cancellation of the
02:28CBP-1 program, which regulated entry into the United States from a shelter in the capital.
02:33We have the following report.
02:37Catherine arrived in Mexico with her three children.
02:41Two of them are already attending school in the capital city, while she works in the kitchen
02:45of this care home that shelters 160 migrants.
02:51My case is like that.
02:52We went from town to town, from bus to bus.
02:54Thank God we arrived here in Mexico City.
02:57And due to the restrictions of the neighboring country, the United States, we stayed here.
03:01Because I think that here in Mexico, they can also give me good opportunities for me
03:05and my children.
03:11Photographs of some of the other families that have passed through the shelter are now
03:14part of this mural that reflects the gratitude and affection that accompanied them on their
03:19journey.
03:21These photos are of people who made it to the United States to do their immigration
03:25regulation there.
03:27Some of them are from when they were here, when they were saying goodbye.
03:30And we also have other photos of when they arrived in the United States.
03:33And they contacted the team to send us photos to thank us for the attention we provide here.
03:42Both adults and children receive, among other support, psychological care to heal the effects
03:47that may have been left by the long journeys and dangers during their journey.
03:53There are children who experience the process as a journey, in which they tell you how they
03:57were in the jungle and got to know everything with emotion.
03:59But there are other children who had to see complicated situations and who see things
04:03with fear.
04:04There are also cultural promoters here with whom I also work.
04:11In addition to encouraging them to draw, paint and play in the art laboratory, they are encouraged
04:16to participate in productive projects, like this one in which plastic bottles, also known
04:20as pet bottles, are recycled, while they are taught about coexistence and family unity
04:25through the germination of seeds.
04:31Because for all the events that are happening, the users are totally disunited.
04:36What we are doing is that with this small element of union, we are promoting care and
04:40inclusion.
04:46These care homes will be expanded to house a total of 2,000 people, in addition to the
04:501,000 people receiving care from citizen organizations.
04:55Unfortunately, the cuts in international funding announced by President Donald Trump are impacting
05:00these shelters and that is why Mexico City is assuming the responsibility that corresponds
05:04to it.
05:09Through multidisciplinary and above all, focused efforts this House of Attention to Human Mobility
05:14is especially dedicated to the issue of families.
05:17We have even had the opportunity to see how there are little ones with motor disabilities
05:20that are cared for.
05:22And there is also another similar house that is dedicated to the care of couples.
05:33In other news, Inequality International observer mentions the night that there are indications
05:36of fraud during the elections held last Sunday, February 9th.
05:40On Tuesday, Novoa denounced irregularities in the vote count and claimed to have evidence
05:45of a possible fraud that prevented him from winning the high number of votes.
05:49In loose regard, members of the electoral observer mentions of the European Union and
05:53the Organization of American States denied that there was any indication of fraud during
05:57the recent elections.
05:59Both mentions emphasized that the elections took place in a transparent, peaceful manner
06:03with no major developments.
06:10The Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs calls on the Ecuadorian government to guarantee
06:14the life and protection of the former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glass.
06:19The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken note of the decision of the Inter-American
06:23Commission on Human Rights to extend precautionary measures in favor of Glass.
06:28On the basis of international law, Mexico granted asylum to the former Vice President
06:32who was illegally and violently expelled from the diplomatic headquarters on April
06:365th, 2024, by order of the President of Ecuador, Daniel Novoa.
06:40The regional body has asked to protect the health and improve the conditions of the detention
06:45of Glass.
06:46We now have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on Tiktok at TELUS
06:54for English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
06:59We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:02Welcome back, on February 6th, the Body Baron Republic of Venezuela denounced before the
07:24world an outrage against its sovereignty in the theft of state-owned aircraft carried
07:29out by order of the U.S. Secretary of State to complicity with the government of the Dominican
07:33Republic.
07:34The correspondent has more.
07:41This is the second Venezuelan aircraft that the Dominican government has retained in its
07:45territory and delivered to the United States.
07:48The delivery took place at the airport of La Isabela, Santo Domingo, in the presence
07:53of the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, an act that, according to analysts, demonstrates
07:58the servility of the Luis Abinader administration towards the interests of Washington.
08:07In the case of the two airplanes, we were talking about a double theft.
08:10The fact that it was handed over to someone else does not exempt guilt.
08:18In this case, it aggravates it because it was handed over to the imperial power of the
08:22United States of America, and that implies a crime steeped in servility.
08:28Very typical of a president with the vocation of a colony governor.
08:39Analysts state that the delivery of the aircraft to the United States not only violates international
08:44law, but also exposes the submissive position of the Dominican government in the face of
08:49Washington's pressures.
08:55The media show that Marco Rubio made is even more humiliating because he exhibited the
08:59president of this country acting as a colony governor.
09:07Handing over the airplane to the United States of America is a form of humiliation.
09:13To accept that is very typical of colonial governors.
09:25The context of this act is part of a strategy of permanent aggression against Venezuela,
09:29which has intensified after the recent elections in the South American country.
09:34Various countries and media outlets have tried to legitimize these actions with a fierce disinformation
09:39campaign.
09:43After the elections held in Venezuela where there was a media campaign by the United States
09:47and its allies, and the Dominican Republic is not exempt from that, we know that the
09:51Dominican government has handled its foreign policy in a way that is very bad.
10:05From my point of view I see it that way because it has not been a government that instead
10:08of looking for solutions what it is doing is aggravating the problem.
10:12I always give as an example the doctrine that Mexico has in its foreign policy of not
10:16interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, and yet it is looking for solutions
10:20and dialogue to solve the same.
10:30Recently during his weekly press conference, the Dominican president was asked about the
10:34seizure of the second Venezuelan airplane, but he limited himself to blaming a U.S. court
10:38without further details.
10:41A plane was confiscated from Venezuela.
10:46We know the U.S. justification for the confiscation, but we want to know what was the protocol
10:51that the country used to confiscate the aircraft from the U.S.
11:01They filed a lawsuit in court and there was a judge's order.
11:05That was the legal procedure that was followed.
11:11The secrecy and lack of transparency regarding the confiscation of Venezuelan state-owned
11:16airplanes in the Dominican Republic has not only been applied in this case.
11:20The same happened with the first airplane, where the Dominican foreign minister assured
11:23that neither the public prosecutor's office nor the Dominican government participated
11:28in the investigation.
11:33Today, September 2, a new court order was received authorizing the delivery of the aircraft
11:38to the requesting state, in this case the United States, and therefore the public prosecutor's
11:47office delivered the aircraft and the U.S. government transferred it to its country.
11:51Neither the Dominican government nor the public prosecutor's office have participated in the
11:55investigation process of the United States.
12:03Only this international legal cooperation was required and since the indicated norms
12:07were complied with and judicial orders were obtained, the public prosecutor's office
12:11complied with what was ordered by the courts.
12:22For analysts, what is presented today as a simple confiscation is, in reality, a new
12:27episode of the economic and political war against Venezuela.
12:31Meanwhile, the Bolivarian government reiterates its rejection of these actions and calls on
12:35the international community to condemn this new violation of its sovereignty.
12:45Leslie Voltaire, president of the Haitian Interim Council, announced that he would bring
12:49to justice all those responsible for destabilizing the country.
12:52The acting president has asked Prime Minister Alex de Geffield to gather information and
12:57evidence available against the persons sanctioned by the United States, Canada and the United
13:01Nations, all allegedly linked to various crimes that have contributed to undermining the peace
13:06of the nation.
13:07Voltaire assured that they will act decisively to bring to justice all those who have promoted
13:13actions against the stability of Haiti.
13:22And the Federation of Cuban Women has expanded the legal, judicial and social framework for
13:26the protection of girls, adolescents and women on the island through the support for
13:30the National Response to Gender-Based Violence project.
13:33The initiative, sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund and the Canadian Embassy,
13:38responds to the national priority of ensuring a comprehensive and integrated response for
13:43the prevention and effective response to gender-based violence.
13:47Zmaida Hernandez, member of the Federation's Secretariat, points out that in Cuba no woman
13:51is hopeless, but this project will guarantee attention to the more than 30,000 women in
13:56Cuba's 40 municipalities, at the same time ensuring more effective prevention and response
14:01to this type of violence.
14:09This project presented is one of the actions that are being taken in our country to provide
14:13specific attention to the issue of violence, but its peculiarity lies in the project will
14:17get to municipalities.
14:18Therefore, it is paramount our population, our citizens, our women, our children and
14:22our teenagers keep posted about it, so we must disseminate the project, as we are one
14:26of the institutions or an instrument to safeguard their rights and guarantees.
14:42In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Cuban Institute of Music confirmed the death
14:46of national singer-songwriter Eduardo Sosa.
14:50On February 3rd, Sosa suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and after several days of illness,
14:55he passed away on Wednesday, February 12th, at the age of 52.
14:58The news was confirmed by the Cuban Institute of Music while underlining that the Cuban
15:02singer died after several days in a critical state due to the stroke.
15:06Sosa, known for his ability to fuse the Trova tradition with the contemporary elements dedicated
15:11his life to the promotion of Cuban art and to the defense of its legacy.

15:41Welcome back.
15:57Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a desperate proposal to swap with Russia the
16:01already Russian territories.
16:03President Zelensky is willing to swap some territories of the Kursk, Russian province,
16:07for others which he granted his troops to control.
16:10In response, a Russian government assured Zelensky is trying to hide the Ukrainian Armed
16:14Forces' failure in Kursk, including 30,000 Ukrainian fatal casualties.
16:18Moreover, the Kremlin demanded Ukraine must withdraw all its remaining troops from Russia.
16:23In all, the conflicts have broken out due to Ukraine not acknowledging either the 2014
16:28referendum or the 2022 popular consultation in which the citizens of Crimea, Sevastopol,
16:34the popular republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, Siberia and Kherson provinces have expressed
16:40their will to be Russian citizens.
17:05U.S. President Donald Trump of promoting ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip and warns him
17:09that he will face Palestinian-Arab and Islamic response.
17:13In this way, Hamas responds to the White House plan, which they describe as racist, and point
17:18out that its only objective is to eliminate the Palestinian cause.
17:24President Trump has said that the people of Gaza will go to a third country and will return
17:28to a reconstructed Gaza, ministered by Washington.
17:32Hamas assured that these plans would clash with a solidly unified Palestinian-Arab and
17:38Islamic resistance.
17:39They also reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire and recalled that it is Israel that
17:43has violated the agreement.
17:52On Tuesday, medical sources confirmed that the death toll in the Gaza Strip rose to 48,222,
17:58the majority of whom are children and women.
18:00Both authorities confirmed that, despite a ceasefire, Israel continues its massacre
18:05against Gaza.
18:07The same sources added that the number of injured people surged to 111,674 since the
18:13start of the aggression back in October 2023.
18:16Authorities warned that the figures are much higher since many victims are still under
18:20the rubble and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them due to the Israeli
18:25siege.
18:32And Israel continues its aggressions against the cities of Jenin and Tulkarim in the West
18:37Bank bridging the ceasefire agreement.
18:39After more than two weeks of attacks, the Israeli occupation forces assassinate at least
18:4429 Palestinians, cause dozens of wounded, carry out illegal arrests, house demolitions
18:50and hundreds of forced displacements.
18:52In this regard, Jenin's mayor, Mohammad Yadar, denounced the economic damage that exceeds
18:56$2 billion during the last three years.
19:00The invading regime is also increasing restrictions on the movement and access to basic services.
19:05Furthermore, Israeli troops are converting Palestinian homes into military barracks as
19:09part of Tel Aviv's expansionist plan.
19:20The director-general of the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reported that at least 92
19:23people have been killed in the strip since the ceasefire was signed.
19:27In the last few days, the Israeli regime intensified its attacks, killing dozens of people and
19:32wounding at least 822.
19:34In this regard, some of the people were killed when they approached the buffer zone of the
19:38Israeli troops, where they were shot at and others from wounds inflicted during the genocide
19:43that lasted 15 months.
19:45It should be noted that a ceasefire was signed between Israel and Hamas on Jan. 19, in which
19:50it was agreed that the hostages held by the Palestinian Resistance Movement would be released
19:55in exchange for the Palestinians held hostage in Israeli prisons.
19:58It was also agreed that Israel would withdraw from Palestinian territory.
20:08In Mali, the army reported Tuesday that they successfully intercepted a terrorist drone
20:12in the Tessalit Airport area near the border with Algeria.
20:15The General Staff of the Armed Forces carried out the operation at 9.40 a.m. local time,
20:20while monitoring a military helicopter that was at the airport.
20:24The drone will be subjected to in-depth research to better understand its operating system
20:29and thus find out its true origin.
20:31Hours before the capture of the drone, Malian troops neutralized several terrorists and
20:35captured a miner that raided a transmitter near the border with Mauritania.
20:47And in France, the third edition of the Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence ended
20:51on Tuesday in Paris.
20:52The final declaration expresses the need for artificial intelligence with a humane approach.
20:56The United States and the United Kingdom did not sign it.
21:00Over 100 countries took part in the summit.
21:02The gathering aimed to translate the debate on artificial intelligence into concrete actions.
21:08Almost 1,000 experts and world leaders attended this meeting to discuss scenarios to ensure
21:13that artificial intelligence does not surpass human intelligence and potentially establish
21:17a form of domination.
21:18However, the United States, represented by its Vice President James Devance, presented
21:24artificial intelligence as a tool for domination and rejects excessive regulation.
