00:00Now back to Stiney and Guru. Take it away, Stiney.
00:03All righty, the biggest celebrity pickleball event in the world is coming to San Francisco
00:07on February 15th and 16th at the Warfield. The star power behind this event includes
00:12celebrities like Brandi Chastain, Chris Mullin, Hunter Pence, Terrell Owens, and Baron Davis.
00:18Visit 957thegame.com for more information and your chance to win tickets, courtesy of our
00:24friends at Pivot. All right, we're talking about the Golden State Warriors. What else is there
00:29today? The train deadline is about 26 hours away, and let me just pass along this piece of...
00:37What you got for us, Stiney?
00:38This little note. It's a little note. So before the last break, I was talking about Joe Lacob
00:45and the reports are that he's pissed. Draymond said it. Windhorses said it from ESPN. Sam Amick
00:54said it. Everybody's saying Joe Lacob's mad, and he's not happy with where the Warriors are.
01:01Well, I just got a text from Joe Lacob.
01:03Come on, Stiney. Joe, he lied to you.
01:06And Joe says, I'm not emotional or pissed. I just want to win.
01:11And that's it.
01:13And then I said, well, you better tell Windhorse, Amick, and Draymond that.
01:17Get your facts straight.
01:18And he said, people say what they want. So there it is. Joe Lacob said he just wants to win.
01:24He's not emotional at all.
01:26Man, I feel like he's in the studio on us right now. Pull up, Joe.
01:30But the bottom line, Stiney, is four championships in 10 years, and Lacob we trust.
01:35And at the end of the day, you were... I didn't tell you, I almost went off
01:39last segment, Stiney. You were screaming at me, but you were excited.
01:43I'm not the one doing this. The Warriors and their brass, and Joe Lacob included,
01:48the guy that runs it, they think if they pull this off that Durant would be an addition.
01:53I agree with them, Stiney, and I'm all for it.
01:56Yeah, I mean...
01:57That's it. And I know you're a future guy. I get it, Stiney. But man, what if Giannis...
02:02This is my point. What if... And I'm rooting...
02:04Dame, I love you. Dame Dollar from Oakland.
02:07But when the playoffs do start, I want Milwaukee to just crash and burn.
02:11So maybe he pulls, I want up out of here, and the Warriors could benefit from that.
02:15But what we've learned, if not anything from the Luca deal, Stiney,
02:19stuff can happen in a millisecond.
02:22And it did this weekend. Nobody saw it. None of the talking heads or the people in the know.
02:26So with that, let's bridge Kevin Durant with Curry and go from there, because that, to me,
02:33makes Curry's job easier. You can't teach what Kevin Durant possesses. We've seen it. We lived
02:40it. So that's why I woke up, Stiney. I couldn't even sleep thinking about, man, if they could
02:45pull this off. And even if they don't get to the promised land, I think it was the right decision.
02:50You're better. Well, you'd think it was the right decision now. But you'd have to wait for the
02:55games to be played and to find out what, if anything, they gave up in the future. I mean,
03:02look, it's like, it's no secret how old those two guys are. And if, like, there's, the Warriors
03:14cannot just acquire Kevin Durant and not think about down the line. Like, they can't. They at
03:20least have to acknowledge what down the line could look like. If they're prepared to give up future
03:25first, they have to at least build into their scenario a worst case in which it doesn't work
03:31out. And that's what I mean. Like, they're not, they're not naive. They know that if they go get
03:37Durant and it costs them what it sounds like it may cost them, which would include some picks,
03:42at least as of this spot, then yeah, it's a risky move. I mean, there's no, there's no other way
03:48around it, but I think they know that any move they make is going to be fraught with some mystery
03:54and with some fear, quite frankly. I don't want to put you on the spot, but could you just share
04:01with us what you would think, just in Kevin Durant for this matter, could you share with us what you
04:07would think on the Stiney computer would be too much to give up for Kevin Durant? Well, I mean,
04:14if you get Kevin Durant, 50 million of salary's going out. Okay. So that's going to be either
04:19Wiggins or Draymond, probably. They probably went Kaminga. Schroeder's making what, 13.
04:24You could move him as part of an expiring, depending on who wants what. To me, the key would
04:30be, let's talk about the picks. Let's talk about the picks because those are the, those to me are
04:36the big boys. And he texts, he said he ain't mad. And I get it that, that, you know, I, it sounds
04:44to me too, like a lot of warrior fans are down on the way the warriors have been drafting and say,
04:50and there's a lot of sentiment out there saying, well, who, who knows if these guys are going to
04:55be anything anyway. And that's not usually the way you look at draft picks. Usually you look at
05:00draft picks and say, our organization does its homework. They do their due diligence. If we have
05:05the certain pick in the draft, we're going to get a player. So I, I'm not used to, even when the
05:10warriors were under Chris Cohan and they had high draft picks, there was optimism. So I guess what
05:17I'm saying is I don't understand all the skepticism about this team not being able to draft down the
05:24line if they have picks to use. Yeah. And you know, people fan is short for fanatic. Shout out
05:29RIP to the great legend, Pete Franklin Stoney. But the bottom line is James Wiseman was years ago,
05:35but it'll never go away. And that was a big miss. But the bottom line is I told you two weeks ago,
05:40when I went to the Saturday game against the home game here at chase warriors, Phoenix,
05:46and I got to look at Joe Lake up and I've done it before. Stony. I, if he were mad,
05:50I wouldn't be mad. You know what I mean? I know he texted you. He wasn't, but that's a guy that
05:55cares. He's had damn near every game. And I get that the product he's watching right now is
06:02substandard to, to what he thinks it should be. So how do you remedy that? You go try to get you
06:08a big fish you struck. And now I'm happy. They struck out on George. Now I'm happy.
06:12They struck out on marketing. If somehow you could land the Durantula.
06:18Eight, eight, eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, seven, zero is the number.
06:22I mean, it's a pretty simple question. If you can get Kevin Durant,
06:26do you want him? Well, I, and I know I like, I, I get, uh, I understand that, that you want him.
06:36And it feels to me like you'll give up just about anything. And I'm wondering,
06:40is there a bridge too far for Kevin Durant? I mean, for me there is, but that's no surprise.
06:46Mostly the picks though. Not that's not the player, the personnel going out.
06:50Mostly, mostly the picks. Yes. It is mostly the picks. And I actually have done a little bit of a
06:58deep dive last night. Okay. And it relates to Jonathan Kaminga. Boy, that re that statue sent
07:06that hit me. And I, uh, it, I'm not afraid to move Kaminga right now. Now that's big study.
07:17What happened? Well, well, it's not that I'm afraid to move him or not. Not that I,
07:22it, if somebody wants him, I would be open to trading Kaminga. What changed? What changed is
07:30the notion that he may want $35 million a year on average. I'm, you know what? Wow. I don't know.
07:40I've just, I'm starting to look at things a lot differently. I'm not giving Kaminga,
07:45I'm not giving him 30. I might not even, and I swear, I'm not, I might not even give him 25.
07:50Doesn't mean I don't like him. It just means I'm looking at so many players in the NBA right now.
07:57Give us what you said last night. Who are making good money and they're
08:01more productive players. And you're going to pay a 22 year old who hasn't done it yet
08:07for his potential. That's it. His potential. Meanwhile, there are other guys making that
08:14kind of money who have already done it and making less. And the, the issue that, you know, to me,
08:20when I look at Jonathan Kaminga, you know, I look at a player who comes into the league at 21 and
08:26they play four or five years and now they're 25 or 26. Now they want their 30 million. You know,
08:32what they're more polished after four years of college or three years of college.
08:38Like I, I think Jonathan Kaminga may have to wait till he's 26 to get his big deal. I just do.
08:46I mean, if he's listening now, I'm sure he's like the hell. Well, whatever that bad from
08:49Reading PA is talking about, I'm about to get the bag, you know, if not here somewhere else,
08:53but can you cite the player you used? I'll tell you like, wow, you shocked me with this one last
08:58night. You want him to make more than Jeremy Grant? Well, he's not as good as Jeremy Grant.
09:04Well, Jeremy Grant is making 30, 32, 34, 36. You want to start coming at 35.
09:11I'm just saying, you know, is he, is he better than Porzingis when Porzingis plays?
09:17Is he a Tyler hero? Who's starting for a team and averaging 23, a game who's making 29, 31 and 33.
09:25These are these guys who have gotten 25 and above. They are established. Okay. You are right. But I
09:31got to say something to that. And I almost want to take back the Jeremy Grant. I meant to say
09:36he's more polished, but the bottom line is working with you for seven years, Donnie, seven long years
09:42you care. And I'm not mad at you. And it's rubbed off on me about the future,
09:47almost more than anything. So if you're telling me looking at me right now,
09:53the Wednesday before the deadline, telling me that you're Jonathan Kaminga, you can move off
09:59of them. Then you don't care about the future in the sense that you're ready to basically start
10:05over because to me, he would get 35 because he is your few. When you talk about the warriors 35,
10:11the warriors might give it to them. I bet they don't. That's all I'm saying. They don't have to.
10:17That's why now things have popped off and they've changed and he might, they might not even,
10:22he might not even be on their watch for them to pay him. But my point is, if you want to
10:26talk about the warrior's future, it starts and ends with Jonathan Kaminga. And that's why I
10:32thought 30, 35. No. And I said, he's made money since he's been gone. It's too much for me. But
10:37you feel that way. Yeah, I do. You don't know what the big man feels. I do. He texted you.
10:40Well, you didn't want to pay him 30, 35 last year. And that was a smart move. What did Bob
10:44Myers tell us? Goo study. You don't have to make a move until you have to. But I'm, when you talk
10:49about warriors future to me, I always thought it was about JK. Well, it may be at the right price.
10:55He's, you know what? You give a guy the reins to your team when he's 25 or 26, not when he's 22.
11:02That's the way I look at it. He's asking his, you can't give it to him. You don't want people
11:07like, think this is harsh. I'd rather commingle walked and I'd lock him in for $160 million.
11:12I feel like there, that he would get that 35 just from who the warriors got money trade
11:18because they look around like, what do they have for the future? Do you get that? He's
11:23restricted. I got you. I got you. If he gets no other offers, then it's the warriors and the
11:27warriors only. And you start, I mean, I would say something like, look, RJ Barrett is a way
11:34more polished than you right now. He's making 26, 28 and 30. We're not paying you 22 more than
11:42Barrett's making it 26 years old. So do you believe real quick? Do you believe he asked
11:47for 40 this off season? He asked for too much. Wow. He asked for too much. And you know what?
11:52The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to get it. All right, let's, uh, let's get into
11:57some calls. Let's go to George in Los Altos. We'll start off with George. How are you doing buddy?
12:04I'm doing good fellas. You know, Joe and wow. It's really cool that Joe texted you.
12:09Uh, I kind of took a little bit out of that. I kind of took a little bit out of what I'm
12:13going to say, but you know, the whole thing about Joe being pissed, he's not stupid.
12:20You know, he and Peter Guber and their fellow investors paid $450 million for the Warriors in
12:262010 and they're now worth over $9 billion. He's not going to do anything to jeopardize
12:33uh, the value of the Golden State Warrior franchise. Having said that, I would love to
12:40get Kevin back, but if that means we have to give up two out of the three guys, namely Draymond,
12:48Kaminga and Wiggins in order to get him, I would not do that deal. I would not. The guy that I
12:55really want back is the guy that'll never come back here. And that's Jordan pool. I would love
13:02to see a deal with Jordan pool and Sadiq Bay coming to the Golden State Warriors. That to me,
13:10what would be a great, great opportunity. And you could keep at least Kaminga and keep Wiggins
13:15and you know, we can't get Kevin at the right deal without giving up everything. I would love to see
13:21them do a deal with the wizards. I really would. I just don't know if Jordan would ever come back
13:26and play with Draymond. Yeah, it's, uh, I may not have to appreciate it, George. Thanks for the
13:32call. You may not have to study Phoenix by all reports. They're interested in Draymond. Um,
13:39they're said to be, and I just want to tell the Golden State. Now, one thing about Laker,
13:43he's not mad. Stony, is he desperate when your name is linked to everybody? You're that guy in
13:50the club. Me, I've been there 1245. He closes the wood. I mean, like we've always known since he
13:57bought the team, he's never wavered from if there's somebody out there, I'm going to make a
14:03call. Everybody, anybody who's available. We're going to, so yeah, he's been consistent for this
14:08is all his whole ownership in terms of, I mean, 12 years ago, we were talking about Dwight Howard
14:14coming to the Warriors. So this has been a, you know, this has been a theme of, of the Warriors
14:19and they've come through and delivered, um, on a lot of it. I just, you know, they're at a,
14:25they're at a different time right now. They're at a more critical time than they've been.
14:30So let's, you know, he says he's not pissed. So let's, I know this, he's unsatisfied right now.
14:37And he's working the phones. So I don't know if he is. Well, you know, the people that work for
14:41him. Yeah. Uh, all right. Uh, let's go to Dennis in San Francisco. What's going on, Dennis? How
14:47you doing? Good guys. How are you? Hey, good. Um, yeah, I, you know, I'd love to have Durant
14:55back, but at what cost, you know, I mean, like you've heard me say this. I want to trade Steph.
15:02I want to rebuild that, you know, that's what I would like them to do. I mean, the, the dynasty
15:08is over bringing Durant here is not going to make us a contender. Steph is declining before our eyes.
15:17You know, these guys, they're one injury, you know, these guys could be injured and not play
15:22for the rest of the season. I mean, just like nobody wants to do the hard thing. The hard thing
15:27is going to rebuild and watch them suffer through trying to grow, get a winning team together again.
15:33You know, but I think that's, if you look at the dontage trade, the, I think the owners
15:39are getting tired of the superstar and them directing everything and, you know,
15:46demanding this and that and the other thing. And, you know, the Warriors, you know, I guess
15:51Miami was the first one to create the super team. Then the Warriors got their super team together.
15:56And that's what the league was going after. That's why you ended up with Durant and Beal
16:00on the same team. And you can see that a lot of times it doesn't work. And I would like to
16:05see them build a team that could be competitive. And, you know, otherwise I think we're going to
16:11give away the future and it's going to take us a lot longer to rebuild. We have some younger
16:16players. I think the Warriors need to learn how to develop players. Our young players have not
16:23developed under Steve Kerr. He doesn't play them. Kaminga, you want to talk about Kaminga? Kaminga
16:29has been yanked in and out of the rotation, the lineup, same thing with Moses Moody. If I was
16:34Moses Moody, I'd tell my agent, get me the hell out of here. Look how he's playing now though.
16:37Look how Moody's playing now. Yeah, but he's finally getting a chance. And why are these
16:42kids getting chances? Durant, I mean, Kaminga got a chance last year because of Draymond suspension
16:47and because of injuries. That's the only reason why these guys got on the floor.
16:51They're not developing. They didn't look what they did to Weisman. Look what they did to Poole.
16:55This is just an example. Now you're to get rid of Kaminga and Moody. I mean, I mean, come on. I mean,
17:00this is ridiculous for what these aging superstars that can make it entertain us for a couple of
17:06months. Appreciate it, Dennis. And I think Moody's going to be the beneficiary of a trade,
17:11Stani. I don't think he's going to be included. Well, the problem with Moody is his contract.
17:14And I think he's shown him he can handle it. Well, Moody's what's known as a poison pill,
17:19which means he's making like five million this year. And then next year, his salary jumps to
17:24like 13. So you have to take into account more than just what he's making now. And so without
17:32getting into details, Moody's a little trickier to trade. But Pods is obviously on the table at
17:37this point. Why did they cut? Where's the poison in that, I guess? Because you're taking a salary
17:41of a player who's only making five million, but you have to have room to accommodate the money
17:47he's going to make next year under the cap. So guys like him often don't go to it, don't get
17:54traded until or unless they're going to a team that's already under the cap. Well, it's also
17:59disadvantageous for the team sending him out because you don't get that salary, but the other
18:05team has to make a room for him. Yeah, exactly. And I know one of our biggest fights has been
18:11Moody. We think differently of him, Stani, but I don't want to say flowers, but we can. Roses,
18:17he's playing a lot better. Are you shocked at how he's been playing here for the last month, man?
18:21Well, I'd say it hasn't quite been a month, but yes, he helped them win the last game they played,
18:27which to me is the most important thing. He's been fine. You know what, though? I gotta be
18:32honest with you. This is about priority number 48. I hate his extension. I do. I don't like
18:41Moody's extension. But where would you be without him? You'd be 500, Goo. No, I'm looking at this
18:48roster like, who would be giving you those contributions? What contributions? Especially
18:52when Pogs went out. A guy that'll let it fly that's been shooting from three, damn near 38%
18:58for almost, like the dude, Stani, he'll go to the rack. He damn near helped you. Like, I don't know
19:03what it is about him. Maybe the braids. There's just something about Moody that really not blinds
19:09you, but you don't give him credit. I'm not telling you he's James Worthy. He cannot guard
19:14perimeter players. He's a 6'5 player who can't guard a guy who's facing up to the basket. And
19:21they've been stashing him at the four. Okay, fine. So then we're moving on with him as a four,
19:28which is fine, but we all know that you can only play him at four a short amount of time. And so
19:34now if he's a 15 or 20 minute player, you're paying a 15 or 20 minute player 13 mil. Look,
19:44all I'm telling the Warriors, and they know it already, is they gotta be careful. No doubt about
19:48it. And every move they make, I'm sure they have an eye toward, well, what's it going to look like
19:52in 2026? Because they have to. Let's go to Robbie in Chicago. Hey, Robbie, how you doing, man?
20:00Oh, what's up, man? How y'all doing, man? I love the show. Love the debates. First,
20:05I just want to say, man, the JK situation, I feel like both of y'all are not wrong.
20:12At the end of the day, he's 22, like you say, but you give him a couple more years,
20:17he's still going to be one of the top 20 guys in the league, athletic, can shoot, can get to the
20:24line. And with the Moses Moody situation, I like Moses, man. He's not a slouch on defense,
20:36but he can come in the game and give you 20. He can get high. He's a stricken player.
20:44I think the Kevin Durant situation is getting a lot of people off
20:48track of what we really need, which is to keep JK, keep Draymond, keep Steph.
20:56I feel like we should go for B.I. and Vuch.
21:00Uh, Brandon Engelman Vuchovic. All right. Thanks, Robby. Appreciate the call.
21:05I mean, again, after years and years and years as it relates to Kaminga,
21:11and I know you're going to think I'm kidding. No, I'm not. And I'm not. Today is the day.
21:16I'm absolutely not. If I'm the Warriors and he's on the team and he's a restricted free agent
21:27and he's not getting any offers, you know what I offer him? 25. Three for 60. I offer him three
21:34for 60. You're making seven and a half million this year. All right. Okay. We're going to bump
21:41you to 15. Then you're going to go to 20. Then you're going to go to 25 and you'll be making
21:4625 million at 25 years old. Let's look at you at 25 years old because you'll be due for a new
21:53contract. If you do what we think you're going to do from 22 to 25, now you'll get your 40.
21:59All right. I hear you. I hear you, Stiney, but I would be willing. We could make a bet
22:04that on the open market, and I know the Warriors have the ability to match. He would fetch more
22:09than 20 mil. Some team would give him a quarter for sure. I'm no longer convinced of that.
